I know exactly what you're feeling, it's a gut shot. Hang in there man.

Fanofthejuiceguys 11-24-2006 06:32 PM

What are you crying about, she did you a favor. Why would you want to get married? Just find a girl you hate, and buy her a house. The end result will be the same.

Just dont take off on women until the spring, there is a lot of fresh tail at every turn. My grandfather used to say "everything happens for a reason" which he applied in all facets...including racing. You will learn from your handicapping mis steps today and you will find a girl even better than this other chick.

I like the advice about the horses. No matter what, the ponies will always be there for you. They will never talk back to you, they will never make you go to a stupid movie--all they want is for you to watch them race. Good luck man and a new year is right around the corner.

Great point! Reminds me of the 2003 ALCS Red Sox/Yankees game 7...Boone hits the homer, and me as a Sox fan, am just depressed. However, flipped right over to TVG and caught the end of "The Quarters". Not a fan of QHR, but seeing the ponies lightened my mood...a little!

thanks guys for posting on here. I was pretty hammered when i typed this up today but you guys are right everything happens for a reason. Im just so off cappin the last couple of weeks it frustrating and too have crappy stuff happening in personal life makes it even worse. Like you guys say things happen for a reason will prob head out to CD tomm for final day of track and try to do better. Thanks for the friendly input on here guys i really appreciate it.

repent 11-25-2006 12:48 AM

Ive been getting killed on everything from NY to TX(Sam Houston) the past few weeks.
just brought home the top 2 finishers in the Japan Cup Dirt including the $36 winner.
Life is good again.
dont worry about the girl wac.
there are lots of girls out there, but we only get one chance to play each race.
I'll take a good day at the track over a good night with a girl any day of the week.

I hope wac doesn't follow this advice. to me a good night with a girl is always better than a day at the track.

there are hundreds of races to play each day, how many chances in your life will you have at landing that perfect girl? it would be a shame to miss that chance because you were playing a PK3 at Mountaineer.

did she completely shoot the idea down? i mean as far as in the future? was it a never answer, or i'm not ready right now? if she said not now, than i see no reason for an ending....if she is not interested ever, than it's good that you asked now, rather than say three years down the road.
i'm a firm believer in happy endings. if she isn't the one, someone else will be.
and of course there's no way to lessen the pain, you have to 'mourn' and then move on. er, unlike one guy around here that is....
good luck, be patient til the pain goes away.

That's actually pretty funny, probably because it's true for at least 25% of guys. So many couples end up that way--Fanof's advice would save a lot of heartache along the way. But if you take your time and use a little reason, it doesn't have to be that way.

Hooves, ArlJim, Suffolk, and Danzig have already provided excellent advice/support. Re-read those posts.

Marriage is a form of addiction. It's the one addiction that is encouraged by society.

You've probably got a woman smarter than you! ;>) There's no rule you have to get married after just a year of seeing each other, especially if one or both of you is pretty young. Be patient, enjoy the relationship, and see what happens.

2MinsToPost 11-26-2006 12:38 PM

Marriage is a sacred vow. Unfortunately, it is tossed around by too many in this day and age as just another day and another credit card bill. A chance for a big party and a chance to impress your family and frends. Be thankfull that she spoke her honest opinion, it is much easier now then down the road after you got married. Life is short, live it to it's fullest but at the same time
"Keep it real, keep it cool and never take for granted your day on this earth as it can be snatched from you in an instant".

You know what I have been doinh here lately when I get in a bad mood? Instead of getting stupid drunk and posting anger fueled threads on message boards (inside joke / statement - many on here know I did that for over a year) I reach out to someone. A simple hello to a stranger, a long walk etc..
All this negative stuff that is happening to you is nothing but a memory today. Now, get up, dust yourself off and go to work making new memories.

2MinsToPost 11-26-2006 12:42 PM

Oh yeah I recommend Sent To Stud's line of books about Women, Drinking and Horse Racing:cool:

Boy, ain't that the truth!

Wac, there's some strip bars right around the corner from Churchill. Save some of your wagering dollars and check them out. Maybe you can cash there :) .

Believe me, being legally stuck with the same person every day is not anything to be missed. Consider yourself lucky.

What if you find the perfect girl WHILE hitting a pick 4 at Churchill Downs? :)

What if you hit the CD pick 4 while having hot sex with the perfect girl, and watching the pick 4 on TV with Christine Oliveras on the show?

Consider it the apex of your relationship....even if it happened at Churchill.

HaHa, well at a minimum you're a lucky man. I'd mark that day on the calender.

Its even better if she was the one who handicapped the PK4 for you!

Well thats great, didn't know you were serious.
Good to know that it is possible to meet a member of the opposite sex while doing the thing you enjoy, especially in this sport!

I'm starting to believe now that maybe it's not so far-fetched...

repent 11-26-2006 10:37 PM

I say this in all honestly.
I would prefer to hit the BC Pick 6(or even the late Pick 4) over finding the person I am supposed to spend the rest of my life with(if that person even exists).

marriage is a bad idea in most cases.
anyone can get married, but you have to be a damn good capper in most years to hit the BC Pick 6.

lol,
well considering that I have spent my life in Texas, Missouri, and So IL, I have seen a lot of young dumb kids get married.
maybe you see that anywhere you live, but my point is that anyone can do it.

I want to accomplish something, and Im talking about something bigger than the early pick 4 at Aqueduct.
marriage can often get in the way of accomplishment from what I can tell.

What about a real nice PK3 or trifecta vs. the girl of your dreams.
who wins in that case?

well,
thats a little tougher to say.
I dont play tris.
I live in TX and play SAM often so anyone who knows that track knows they advertise the hell out of their rolling pick 3s(they only have 1 pick 4).
so I thats what I play R-Su.

I really dont play pick 3s regularly anywhere but there.
I almost exclusively play pick 4s and w/p.

Id take Natalie Portman over a really nice pick 3, but not a pick 4.

Repent

repent 11-26-2006 11:03 PM

btw,
the pick 3s were paying nicely Sat at SAM.

Im not going to redboard and say what I hit, but unfortunately I failed to hit any of the big ones early in the card.

they are very hittable though for anyone who puts in the time at SAM and I would say its one of the better values for your wagering dollar.
id encourage any of you to take a look at SAM.
