My free bingo square in a pick 3 looked very short. I guess that Get Stormy lost all interest when she looked around and didn't see any boys to beat.

Lotsa long shots comin in, lots!!!:confused:

After seeing Admiralty Pier pay $44.00 after the objection, it would take a brave person to single Independence Hall in the Davis.

cal828 02-08-2020 05:22 PM

I don't think I've ever seen so many longshots and it wasn't even a wet track.:zz::wf Don G. picked the only form-full race of the day.:tro: except I guess the feature wasn't a huge surprise. As for Got Stormy, I'm guessing it might have been that she just was not ready and also the pace was slow, but maybe it was just a bridge too far. She's a killer at a mile, but I think at a mile and a sixteenth, she has only a show placement in four tries. Hard to figure how that extra sixteenth seems to make the difference.

I'm thinking we could just about all (Dog G. excepted :$::$:) use a little redemption.:( Maybe we'll get it in Newawlins, if that's where we go for the Risen Star. They come out with their pps early so I'll be sure to over handicap everything. I think I'll swear off Turf races for awhile. They seem to be my undoing most of the time.

It looks as if it might take a fair amount of time to handicap the card at the Fair Grounds (if that's where we are taken). The fields for most of the races are full to overflowing, especially the turf races. I'm certain that you noticed that the Risen Star had so many entrants that it had to be broken into two separate divisions, with 11 and 12 runners respectively.

I don't follow the Fair Grounds as much as some other tracks, but have often wondered whether they have a greater percentage of scratches because their entries are taken so much earlier than most other tracks.

Yes, I noticed. One of those Turf races has 14 entries and they don't seem to be AEs, but if a person likes P3s and 4s and maybe even 5s, it looks like those bets can be had with all stakes, I think.

The Oscars and Horse Racing. Tonight on the Oscars I was 9 for 11 picking winners really knowing very little about any of the movies, actors, etc. And I only picked the categories I saw coming up, not everyone. Like I don't play ever race when I go to the track either. Not a whole lot of relevance but if I could pick races like I pick the winners on the Oscars, I'd be much better off in our retirement for sure, much better off.

I'll have sweet dreams tonight picking horses like I picked the winners of the Oscars tonight and wake up much richer for it . . . in my dreams 9 for 11. Go figure!!! :$:

I don't think you are giving yourself enough credit. I don't want to preempt RQ's entertaining narrative, but I think you might have been the only winner :tro: on a baffling Tampa card that had all the rest of us Lost In Space.

Anytime I can get a positive ROi, I'll take it. But it's rare for me. Just felt it would be the safest bet on the card and so it was. My MO is the Points contest, as most know here. You, my friend, are a tough competitor since I thought I might be looking a a SWEEP but your great boxed tri pick in Race 11 shut that down.

It's unusual to see JB and lately Ruffian out of the top 1,2 or 3 . . . but before we know it they will both heat up challenging for the lead. And lets not forget RQ who's right in there as well. You have added a new dynamic here and i'm sure we all like it. Nice REPEAT, again, BTW.

Thanks, but sincere kudos to you for knowing which race would maximize your play. It's a big part of the battle for all of us to know which race we should play and so frustrating to look back after picking the wrong one. When you choose poorly, nobody has to beat you. You usually end up beating yourself. Handicapping is obviously important, but betting is equally so.
