Who was @ the BC?

Let's see a show of hands. Who was there and where did you sit?

I told a few people about this site and I'm curious to see if anyone has joined us.
Some asked me about my DT hat, others I just told to check it out.

Row 124, row P.

Anyone?... Bueller?....

kentuckyrosesinmay 11-07-2006 06:14 PM

I was in Section 117 Row I Box 10.

The BC was my dream vacation. I met a lot of people, saw a lot of great horses up close early in the morning on the backside (although getting three hours a sleep every night did me in), and I had a ton of fun. That trip determined where I want to be for the rest of my life as far as my career goes...I definitely want a job in the industry, and I'm going to go get one. I learned a whole lot about myself on that trip, and my path became clear. I'm not spinning in circles anymore, and I'm chomping at the bit to go wherever the horses take me. I don't know why I was fighting it for so long. It is where I belong.

The highlights of my trip were watching Dreaming of Anna and Ouija Board win their races.

Another highlight was seeing my man, Bernardini, up close on Wednesday evening when I arrived in Louisville. Although, I guess I have to get another man because they retired him. LOL.:D

It was my first trip to Churchill.. it was awesome ( unless you wanted food, or to make a bet )

I was fortunate enough to be in Section 317 box 5A.. sitting right next to Serling, not recognizing him ( feel like a dipcrap now ) until Steve showed up. Got to talk with Steve for a short while after the classic was completed and discussed briefly the day as a whole. Just, if not more, a class act in person as on the boards and the radio.

It was a lot of fun.

blackthroatedwind 11-07-2006 07:19 PM

Yeah, those were some seats. Unbelievable.

Good for you. Did you like your seats?

Winged Foot Jim 11-07-2006 09:33 PM

First Breeder's Cup in person, 3rd as a follower of the sport. Had seats right up on the fence in Section 122, Row A, looking directly across at the eighth pole. Having the Distaff & Mile start right infront of us, seeing the Classic runners pass us twice, and seeing most of the horses pass before us before each race was absolutely incredible as a fan (as was having Todd Pletcher be 2 feet away as he walked by us, but unfortunately that was on the way to check on Fleet Indian so it wasn't a "cool" moment for sure).

It was by far the best day wagering I ever had, hitting 6 of the 8 races, including the first two Pick 3's, and all 5 dirt races. Was able to see up close and personal that the track was being scraped, and although I put my Pick 3's in before going to the track, I was able to put some extra $$ on Street Sense & Thor's Echo based on how the track was playing. The only thing that marred the day obviously was Pine Island's death, as she had been my top choice in the Distaff. Had no idea she even broke down until someone in the row behind me got a call from a friend at home.

It was my first time in Louisville, and everything on the trip couldn't have gone any better. Got there Thursday morning so I was able to watch the L'Ville-WV game at 4th St. Live with the local fans. Only bad thing on the whole trip happened after the game when one drunk fan picked up his buddy on his shoulders and fell into a friend of mine, spilling booze all over him and almost getting everybody seriously hurt. When my friend told him to be a little more careful, he responds "What do you expect, you're in a bar. Go F yourself." At home he would've just knocked the drunk out, but we just walked away because after hitting a guy in a Louisville shirt, there was no way we would have walked out of there in one piece that night :o . Everyone else we ran into down there was VERY nice however.

Spent Fri-Sun at Churchill and fell in love with the place for obvious reasons. Did Millionaire's Row on Friday which was a very cool experience. Avoided the line problems on Saturday by putting a lot of bets in online before leaving the hotel, and the rest in by phone thru Brisbet while I was at the track. Only got food once and that wasn't a problem. Definitely wouldn't have a problem with them having the Cup here once every 3 years.

All in all a wonderful trip. Already looking forward to next year when they'll be having it in my backyard at Monmouth Park!

My fifth time at Churchill, first BC. Sat in 224, had a great time, great weather. Luckily didnt see Pine Island breakdown, and was right in front of Invasor as he was picking up steam. For those on TV, it was obvious he was going to pass Bernadini when they went by me. Id like to do it again but all the northerners I talked to there said the Big M couldnt handle the crowds that day.

...unlike mine. Great point of view however the 1st 16 rows were level with no step. One more row back and I would have been higher. Oh well...it was still a great time. Next time I'll know.

Clubhouse. Sec. 113. But we didn't stay in our seats. Went down to the rail most the races. People standing all over near the rail. And the men.....OMG.... never saw so many gorgeous men in one spot.:p

Seriously Gator, I don't think I have seen so many fine men in one spot. WOW.:p Old and young alike.

Coach Pants 11-08-2006 10:22 AM

I was on the fourth floor (old millionaires row) for the last four races. I was stuck at my brother's house waiting for his girlfriend to get ready.

His internet connection was fubar but luckily there was an unsecure wireless network nearby and i got my bets in for the undercard.

My kind of men too...

kentuckyrosesinmay 11-08-2006 12:12 PM

You right Blue Eyes, there were a ton of good looking men at CD, but there was one in particular that I took a liking to. We hung out for a little while. I had a lot of rich, drunk men hit on me. It was great!:D

For the poster who was down at 4th Street Live to watch the Louisville vs. WV game, I was there too at the Lucky Strike having a great time. Everytime they showed the horses on the TV, I would scream and holler.

I actually met a lot of people. I was sitting beside people who were really good friends of Micheal Matz's, and I was sitting in the box with some older gentlemen from Cali that were friends with John Sadler. I also met a crazy British dude that flew all the way from England just to watch his darlilng, Ouija Board, run.

My seats were pretty good, but I definitely want better ones next time and I need to get them earlier in the year. I'm definitely going to the Derby and to the BC next year.

It was my first trip to the BC, but I have been to CD before. It was fantastic!!!!!!!

The Lucky Strike is where I was for the game too Roses. I got some looks when I walked in being one of the few not wearing any Louisville gear, but when people found out I was there for the Cup (and that I was rooting for Louisville), everyone was real nice. I swear the bartender was ignoring me at first because he didn't think I was a fan, but some random guy sitting there grabbed him and told him to take care of me because I had been waiting too long. Stood up by the big screen in the middle of the front bar and enjoyed the game. Real nice people aside from the a-hole I mentioned earlier. You may have encountered him too, he was sitting up front on one of the couches in a red Louisville shirt and was grabbing every girl that walked by.

Section 119 in the front row baby.

You needed a nice chick to get your drinks for you... you men are such a pushover when it comes to being "aggressive" at the bar. :D

Haha, you're right on that Cajun. I like to think I'm a decent looking guy but I had no shot in comparison to the co-eds that were there that night. Not that I'd want the male bartender to stop for me, but the female bartender kept ingoring me too :( , lol.

I'm way aggressive when it comes to getting my alcohol.

It must have been crazy in there, though. I'm glad you guys had a good time. :D

He didn't grab me. He may have been intimidated. Did you see the crazy chicks dancing around everywhere? I was wearing a red dress with a black coat on over it, black gloves, and silver heels. I was dressed to the nines. I was a little blonde girl, and with the heels, stood about 5'6". You couldn't really see my dress under the long black coat. I was over at the far right table with some friends. I had an older woman with me. I was the little girl that you heard hollering every time that Lava Man or Bernardini rolled onto the screen. Of course, like me, you may have been a little bit tipsy and can't remember much.:D

With all the noise in the place I honestly can't remember hearing anybody holler when they would show the Breeder's Cup commercial, but I think I may have seen you because I remember seeing some people dressed up, which stood out from the crowd due to the fact that most people were in red or black Louisville t-shirts. I stood against the pillar across from the middle of the front bar for most of the night, so I had a pretty good view of the place. I certainly would have sent a drink over to any female I saw hollering when the showed the ponies had I actually noticed it ;) .

Man, I'm sorry that I missed a DTer. We were probably the ones dressed up that you saw. I was a few guys. There were some guys being really loud that looked like thugs at the right end of the bar, and they were sitting right in front of us (we were at a table). Those guys that looked like thugs were funny, and they actually worked at Churchill Downs. I was told that they didn't look anything like that when they were actually at work though.:D I had a blast. And I can't believe that you didn't here me hollering for Bernardini and Lava Man!!! I was loud! And wild! And buzzing!

This happened to be my first BC experience. I was on the backside......so it was quite the experience to hear the the thunder of the field fly by. The catastrophic break down of the class Pine Island occurred directly in front of me. While I happened to be shooting away with my camera, I captured the horrific event. Needless to say, I could have done w/out these when I had the film developed. Unlike ESPN! RIP GOOD GIRL!

Ruffian2 11-17-2006 06:10 PM

I was there. Sec 225, Row C. Not that anyone gives a crap.
