What makes you think he will win a lot of west coast Grade I next year. Unless I missed something, Lava Man is going to b racing again. So far, you have to assume Lava Man is going to be better than Derek.

oracle80 11-06-2006 08:46 PM

Why wouldn't it be Invasor if he stays in training?

BellamyRd. 11-06-2006 08:49 PM

well Lava Man can't reign forever
plus BD was better in the Classic than LM
foretelling of things to come
Invasor, well, I don't know their plans
I kinda thought he'd be retired

Cunningham Racing 11-06-2006 08:53 PM

Zippy Chippy here....hellava horse

BellamyRd. 11-06-2006 09:14 PM

Funny Cide gets sent to Dutrow and wins the BCC
Strong Contender goes off as the favorite
but Brother Derek wins the HOY due winning the most G1's
Tiz Wonderful wins the Derby and Preakness, and loses the Belmont
to Dreaming of Anna and then is retired
Perfect Drift wins the Foster!

Charismatic1 11-06-2006 09:29 PM

The Moon will turn the tide in '07. Declan's Moon will reemerge.

randallscott35 11-06-2006 09:32 PM

Discreet Cat

SniperSB23 11-06-2006 09:33 PM

Invasor if he makes it through the year. Otherwise Premium Tap.

Danzig 11-06-2006 09:34 PM

street sense? maybe he can avenge his fathers fall from grace....

The way they've handled him, I wouldnt be surprised to see a grueling schedule such as Dubai World Cup, JCGC, BCC - maybe the Whitney or Woodward as well.

would be nice to see invasor run a repeat, with a win in dubai of course, of the schedule he followed this year.

Cunningham Racing 11-06-2006 09:40 PM

Seriously, Discreet Cat WILL be the best horse in training next year....the only way he loses is if he beats himself........I heard from many good sourecs in New York that he would out-train Bernardini in the mornings when they went together....although he does have a lot more natural speed than Bernie and that is what always does best in the mornings....

Discreet cat was the best horse in training THIS YEAR.

And it begins again. One "superhorse" exposed and another one fills the void.

That would cost them the breeding season so why not bring him back and go for the Classic at that point?

Exactly. I think Invasor will rule the east.

Well everyone knows that Lava Man cant win anywhere other than Cali. Plus they have that cushion track out there now and Lava Man runs good on turf and dirt so I would assume that he will be good on cushion as well. But Lava Man has beated Derek rather easily this year out in Cali.

avance2000 11-06-2006 10:32 PM

i am going to go out on a limb and say that it will be some 2yo (3yo next year) that none of us have even heard of yet.

King Glorious 11-06-2006 11:39 PM

In likely order;
1. Discreet Cat
2. Your Tent or Mine
3. Invasor
4. Lava Man
5. Street Sense

Such disrepect for the 2006 HOY.....Your Tent or Mine. How could you even entertain the possibility that a fraud like Discreet Cat could defeat such a proven monster?

I don't think that Your Tent or Mine is a proven monster at all. Neither do I think Discreet Cat is a fraud. I don't have a good feeling about seeing Invasor run all year. And I don't think he's better than Discreet Cat anyway so if they face each other, I expect him to lose and that the loses would drop him down in the rankings. Meanwhile, if Your Tent or Mine can come back next year and be anywhere close to what I thought I saw from him, he could run up an impressive record running out here in California and put himself into a good position to be HOY. Sort of the same thing that Rock Hard Ten did two years ago and Lava Man did this year. I'm not saying that YTOM is better than Invasor.

blackthroatedwind 11-06-2006 11:57 PM

First of all...I am obviously joking. But secondly...when was the " great " Your Tent or Mine's last race?

You can't seriously believe he is going to reemerge after a year and be a factor next year?

Then again....I am still hoping Dynever comes back in 2008 to vindicate himself. Love his chances in the Temple Gwathany.

Yeah, I know u were only having fun with me. I had to expect that after listing YTOM over Invasor. In the minds of 99.9% of the people, that's crazy. He last ran in December of 2005. He's run a total of three times, missing the entire 2006 season. He did run very well in all of his starts though. He broke his maiden then won the Hollywood Prevue in his second start, beating the good sprinter Da Stoops at 7f. Then he ran right with Brother Derek before losing the Hollywood Futurity at 8.5f in his third start. Do I seriously believe he's going to come back at the same level? No. It's very unlikely. But I can hope right? And what I will say is that if he somehow can, I think he could be right there among the West Coast horses, especially since O'Neill is talking about a campaign for Lava Man that will focus on grass racing. The California older horse division just doesn't seem like it has any quality so it wouldn't take much for YTOM to be near the top if he comes back and is anywhere near his old level.

if BroDerek cant run on poly, he can not win on the west coast for the most part.

thats the new thing for west coast runners.
you have to have a polytrack runner or you might as well head to the midwest or east coast.

and to be honest,
BroDerek is just not that fast.

2007 HOY is an intersesting thing to talk about, but impossible to predict.
does anyone know for sure what they are doing with Invasor?
DCat will not run enough.
neither will Commentator.
it will most likely be a failed turf horse from Europe.
some AP Indy or Storm Cat that had no business ever being on the turf that was sent there to waste his talent for a few years.

Nothing wrong with hoping. I really don't know much about him but a couple of sharp friends of mine were very high on him going into this season. Drysdale...right?

King Glorious 11-07-2006 10:58 AM

Yes, he's Drysdale. That probably handicaps his HOY chances even more. Nothing against Drysdale's training abilities as I have a ton of respect for him but he's so conservative that I shouldn't expect to see the horse run more than five times even if healthy.

blackthroatedwind 11-07-2006 10:59 AM

He's a terrific trainer but he's just ridiculous. Michael Dickinson with a TC win.

You gotta love horse racing people with their superstitions. LOL. Although, I don't fancy myself to be a very superstitious person. Knock on wood. :D

btw on BroDerek,
am I the only one sick of this whole camp?
they b*tch about everything from post position draw proccess to invisible claims of foul.
its just tiring.

their horse is slower than it's competitors.
just deal with it.

they always have an excuse, and its never a good one.
