Plenilune continues to take command early on in the season with dual wins for most of the past weeks with a nice win in ROI, while DonGuido feeling a little more of his usual oats hangs in for the second rung win a nice with in points. Ruffian takes bridesmaid honors again and moves up two spaces to the three hole while Real Quiet hangs tough in 4th with a super spot in points. And JolyB stays close to all with his tie for 4th in points. DonGuido takes down a repeat in points and moves into the lead, at least temporarily, while Real Quite pulls in scores in the two contests and moves up two rungs of the ladder. JolyB hits in both contests as well landing in the 4 hole right behind RQ as Ruffian hits a 4th in points and moves down a couple of spots. So it looks like we prefer to take on our long winters nappy's this coming weekend and forego (where is Forego BTW) the contest to indulge in the festivities, peace and joy of the season. So we have a new leader as Real Quiet jumps over DG hitting a nice REPEAT in ROI garnering 20 bonus points, while JolyB scores in both contests as he slowly climbs the ladder. Ruffian hangs tough in the 5 hole with a nice win in Points. Cruzan adds nicely to his total in the 7 spot and Indian Hemp joins the party occupying the 8th rung of the ladder with a tie for fourth in Points. Ruffian adds minor points with the super place in Pts while Real Quiet remains red hot-hot-hot, as he creeps up on Ruff, accumulating a nice points total for scores in each contest. Plenilune, the big mover of the day, makes a nice gain hitting in both contests and jumps over JB landing firmly on the 3rd rung of the ladder. And JolyB takes over the 4 hole adding nicely in the Pts contest. Lets just see how Tampa Bay has treated us!? JolyB handles Sam Houston just fine with a win in Pts and DonGuido manages yet a second ROI win in three weeks and a 3rd in Pts to move up and join Plen on the 4th rung of the ladder. As we slowly work toward that first Saturday in May I'm sure we'll see some ups and downs in this group. Ruffian stays hot with nice scores in both weeks and RealQuiet maintains the 2 spot hitting as well in both weeks. But JolyB is the big mover and groover getting his keen edge ready of the Triple crown and jumps up to the 3rd rung of the ladder with mega points for both weeks. DonGuido adds a little to his till hanging tough in the 5 hole and Cruzan slips a notch as NJ Stinks takes the 6th rung away from him with a nice win in ROI and Indian Hemp lands points to "keeps on keepin on" in the 8 slot. OK so we all enjoy double points for those who nabbed'em as Ruffian stands tall still in the lead but JolyB climbs much closer as he pulls down a boo coo load of points for doubles day and a SWEEP. Real Quiet maintain the 3 hole capturing a 3rd in ROI and DonGuido makes a significant move up the ladder with place positions in both contests. Cruzan is no slouch adding to his total and solidifies his hold on the 6 spot. No word yet as to where the Professor is taking us next but I'm sure it will give us more fun than we can handle, or maybe not. :) And many of us wait with great anticipation to justify our feelings for a Justify triple crown. No changes in positions and lots of added points to dole out over the past two weeks. JolyB holds on to the lead, Ruffian hangs tough in the 2 hole and Real Quiet maitains the 3rd rung of the ladder. DonGuido gaining some on the top 3 but stays in the 4 hole while Plenilune and Cruzan stay pat with nice points gains as well. Indian Hemp and Roamin are on the move with a share of the winner's points for ROI on 6/23. Status in time (if anyone cares): JB is on track, in fact a month ahead of DG pace at this time last year, to eclipse the record points total of 565 DG ended up with last year. BTW JB ended up with a not to sneeze at 508 total last year and with right at 4 months to go to Breeders Cup. Thanks for playing and keep those cards and letters coming in. Real Quiet takes on minor honors in both contests and hangs tough in the 4 hole while Plenilune has a stellar day in the Points Contest and adding a place showing in ROI. Roamin registers a great showing with a humongous win in ROI and nabs the place spot in Points as well. And I am happy to add Cal288 to the points totals board. I bet Cal288 can't wait to have some more fun this week. JolyB is putting on a Secretariat-Belmont performance with the first THREE PEAT of the year adding "gobs" of points to his leading status while Ruffian continues to add nicely to her totals as well gaining points in each contest. Real Quiet hits a first in ROI and a second in Pts which allows him to leap over DG to regain the 3rd rung of the ladder and Cal828 keeps climbing the ladder in the lower tier. Is a FOUR BAGGER in the mix for JB? Never been done before but if anyone can do it, JB can . . . we'll see as we take to Arlington Park this week. Points and ROI Totals through August 25, 2018
Labor Day Weekend update with lots of yard work and home stuff and I LABORed way to hard and today I may rest up . . . but anyway back to the totals. No change in the order asJolyB continues his smooth and easy ride to the Year's Handicap Champion while Ruffian adds nicely to her total in the 2 spot and DonGuido widens the separation from RQ adding minor points. Plenilune nails the win in ROI and increase her points totals hanging tough on the fifth rung of the ladder. Banter nabs a place position in ROI and Cal 828 hits show spot in the Points contest both add nicely to their totals. Let's see how the last Saturday card at Saratoga treats us, giving me a "no show" "no points" . . . with guests visting and just too much going on. Always a sad day when racing has to wait again until next year at the Spa.
