Anybody want a gelding for free?

I'm not kidding here. Any of you trail rider type people who wanta gelding need to email me quick. One of my clients Maggi is giving away some racehorses, geldings, and she has three left out of 8 she started with.
Better speak fast, and you may be able to get one for free.

No you cannot. When horses are given away or donated, they are given away with the agreement that the horse can no longer race.

slotdirt 10-24-2006 11:55 AM

Man, if I had a few extra ducats right now, I'd absolutely take him.

Its free. You'd have to pay the shipping. She has 3 that need homes.

slotdirt 10-24-2006 11:59 AM

Yeah, but then you'd have to pay board and all, etc.

Make sure they aren't New York breds that will put holes in your walls.

Cajungator26 10-24-2006 12:06 PM

Mike, are they sound? (Or sound enough for pleasure riding?)

Buffymommy 10-24-2006 12:13 PM

Are they sound enough to do hunting? I could ask my friend if she would want a gelding. She may. I take it they are in NY?

Ditto, but I've got a good friend looking for one right now.

Then definately look into it for her Cajun. Should only be a few hundred to ship from NY right? Thinking $600 or so.

No not bad at all. Too bad I can't get a nice raise right now, but honestly, I would need a "bombproof" horse for right now not a project one. Especially since I am still sore from a fall on Friday! :)

This is an example of why life's not fair. Free horses being dangled in front of my very nose. When I wanted my first car what do I get? A kitten for my birthday instead. Funnily enough I had a kitten find me a few weeks ago. Apparently instead of being able to bear children, whenever I want one I'll just get a kitten instead.

My best friend got a new car and soon to be another doggie instead of children. :)

Funny, when anyone ever asks me if I am going to ever have kids, my response is "I have always wanted a horse, haven't wanted kids yet".

Life works in mysterious ways Merlinsky. I am very lucky in the situation that I have. I am kinda "free" leasing a horse right now. Just take care of him and baby some of their other horses and I get to ride for free. Sometimes I help by feeding too. Horse's owners are very nice and kind people.

i think he was just being sarcastic cajun, deep down jerry is a good guy and i dont think hed wanna see any horse harmed. i still feel awful for taking my horse down and running him at fairmount this year. as soon as we got him off the trailer i said"sorry boy for bringing you to this shiathole." nothing wrong with bottom tracks but if you see some of the butcher jobs that go on down there and the shape some of em go to the track in youd be absolutely sick

disappearingdan_akaplaya 10-24-2006 02:42 PM

just to add to my last post luckily we do have orginizations here like canter and others downstate like the one retired jockey cindy medina runs, god knows how many theyve saved here in illinois!

I know he was being sarcastic, but my God, he picks the worst things to be sarcastic about, you know? To even joke about running there is ridiculous. :(

I am going to have to keep bumping my thread on the "off topic". It is titled "looking for a horse" if you want any more info on my friend and what she is looking for. It can be a filly. Doesn't have to be a "mare". It can be two or three.

yeah cajun. if jerry actually spent some time around the horses themselves he wouldnt joke about things like that. i tell him instead of betting all that money claim himself a horse and get in the game, if that ever happens im sure his outlook will change
