Mandalla: Tin Man will pass BC

Sorry for DTer and Tin Man a.m. rider Honu...

Coach Pants 10-20-2006 01:43 PM

That's unfortunate.

We need more horses like The Tin Man. What a solid record.

Thanks, its whats best for the horse, he is not 100% going into this race.

Seattleallstar 10-20-2006 01:49 PM

It shows how smart Mandella is, a true horseman. He knows the Tin Man doesnt have a chance in hell in the BC Turf and that they took a shot at the Million. They know that was his ceiling, very good news.

for the Tin Man to have a chance in the BC turf he would have to be 200%

Bernardini 10-20-2006 01:52 PM

I wouldnt blame him a bit for this decision either !!!

Bold Reasoning 10-20-2006 01:53 PM

I was going to make The Tin Man my best bet. The horse's welfare comes first. The connections are the best.:)

I appriciate the compliment of my boss's horsemanship skills . Your thoughts on why he is missing the race are not correct.

The Tin Man didnt have a chance in hell of winning the BC Turf, I like the horse and have won money on the horse. But lets face it he was never top class, won his share of important races and was very fortunate to get the trip in the Million that enabled him to win.

That is your opinion , people didnt like him when he went to Dubai , nobody liked him when he went into the Million , yet the horses that he has competed with this year and beat are now being talked about as possible winners of their prospective races.
He is doing what is best for the horse. Mandella doesnt lie and he isnt scared if he was he never would have beat Cigar.

Agree 100% with that. Despite being called The Tin Man, this horse has never lacked for a heart.

Hope he gets back in form so we can enjoy watching him a little longer.

Was he 100% last race? I sure don't think he would have beat TH Approval at 12 furlongs the way he ran last out.

The BC Turf is going to one short field.

he had every chance to win the Turf that any other American horse has -- and remember he ran second to David Junior in Dubai.

David Junior would win the Turf for fun if he were not running in the Classic.

No American has beaten the Tin Man this year, so it would seem that he would have had as good a chance as any American in the race.

At least that's what comparative logic says.

How's " comparative logic " working for you at the windows?:D

generally serves me quite well.

we can talk all we want about how or why a horse wins a race -- but if a horse just continues to win, then no amount of talking changes that. it's that simple.

getting an unchallenged lead didn't make War Emblem's win price any lower :)

1st_Saturday_in_May 10-20-2006 02:13 PM

Seattle, buddy, stick to picking losers and chalk favorites. It seems to be all you're good at.

Buffymommy 10-20-2006 02:16 PM

Seattle you get a "BE NICE". The guy is doing what is best for his horse, and you have to be a mean nasty little Beeyotch about it?

Ever heard of the saying "if you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all"? I know that I am being mean and I am yelling at you to be nice, but sometimes you deserve it. Mandella doesn't. He is doing right by his horse.

cakes44 10-20-2006 02:26 PM

I really wanted him to go. He would have taken plenty of money in the win pool and had no chance of finishing 1st.

repent 10-20-2006 02:41 PM

this is so freaking funny I can barely type this.

why not announce that Cambiocorsa is not running in the BC Mile? its just about as relevant.

this horse is not very fast,
not very sound,
and not very interesting.

Great move by the trainer. I like this horse but there was no chance he was going to win this race on the lead. There are too many good horses going in this race. He is a gelding and there is another year for him.

Yeah, I know Honu, you gallop him. Don't mean nuthin. Been around to long, seen to much, rode to many great ones, and I NEVER pay attention or listen to riders now, or in years past (with the exception of Shoe).

Good for you.

Boy, listen to you. The boards biggest braggart saying it "don't mean nuthin" and going on to say "rode too many great ones." WTF? Now you're supposedly sitting in a swank hotel lounge, sucking on a cigar, sipping gin and living it up? At least the girl don't go around blowing smoke up our asses about the horse/s she gallops and saying "told you so". I only wish I kept a list of all the Frankel horses you touted and they tanked (3+ yrs. worth) only for you to come back with an excuse. And for all those champs that you "touched" - it don't mean nuthin', right?

Crown@club 10-20-2006 06:12 PM

Oh man the BC TURF at Arlington.

Alright their going slow. Looking good.

They're still going slow. Yea baby its in the bag.

Coming around the final turn: "Turn on the Jets! You got them! Easy Money"

Father Bobed 4th! UGH!!!!

Where was he at SA?

Boy you have been bumping your head alot lately. The home you're in should be putting the helmet on you after they dress you.
P.S. we don't want to see your old post after any race.

You are a moron, a true moron.
They aren't passing because they fell there is a ceiling, hes not right.
Grow up and stop acting like a know it all in something that you have been exposed 1000 times as knowing absolutely nothing about.

oracle80 10-20-2006 09:18 PM

Guy likes to run his mouth and tell you all the time who can't win.
hes only said that about at least 5 horses who went on to win grade ones.
You'd think he'd eventually learn, but he never does. Its very frustrating. His parents have to be early candidates for sainthood.

GPK 10-20-2006 09:46 PM

Honu....I am sorry to hear this kiddo. I hope TTM is gonna be okay. Would love to see him return to the races again next year.

jpops757 10-21-2006 11:43 AM

How can this turn into a dump on this horse and Mandella? Look at the years accomplishments by the horse. Imo it is tougher for Mandella to pass on the race, than it would be to go. I think this move by Mandella shows his status as a responsible and quality trainer. Mandella does not need to have a horse in the BC to have the status. If this horse would hae been fit and went to the race, he probably wouldnt have been my pick but he would of had my respect.

well said. I love to root for this horse, I'm sorry he's not right for the big one. But the great thing about him is he'll be back for me to root for next year...gotta love a gelding.

Totally agree. That's why Mandella is at the top of my list of trainers in Cal.

Kinda like YOU!!

what the hell are you talking about?
I am very sound.
have not had a serious injury in almost 7 years now.
and I am very fast.
plus i can run all day.
as for being intersting, thats a matter of opinion.

but you are way off buffy by saying that i am not fast and not sound.
btw, the Tin Man is still slow and he totally sucks as a racehorse.
deal with it.

better yet, I hope he ends up like Bluesthestandard.
Symphony Sid is a better turf distance horse with more speed.

Its not essential to my job that I type x amount of words/minute,
but I get by.
its not like I have a personal secretary or anything. although it would be nice.
