Pharoah vs. Older, what's next . . . ?
So he romped today, Victor nudged him slightly on the far turn to take over the race with 2 or 3 little hand pumps and then sat chilly, hands still, throttled down and coasting to the wire . . . thus he had an easy work out today . . . So there are no 3YO's that can carry his horse shoes let alone run against him. Question is, is there a horse of any quality of any age that can give him a run for his "money" . . . can't think of any . . .
Who is out there . . . anybody, I doubt it!!! |
Obnoxious, no?

as good/great as a.p has looked i'm not going to say an older or euro horse couldn't beat him. he's going to have to earn it in the b.c.

Speaking of freaking . . . AP is truly the definition of a FREAK. Bring'em on I say, bring'em on. |

My guess is they'd prefer one more race before the BC, not 2. I don't know that there is a suitable one on the calendar midway between now and the BC. If not, somebody will write him one, or enhance a pre-existing race (like the Mass Cap did for Cigar, etc.)

Zayat has certainly said all the right things regarding the horse and the fans. Well the fans want to see him run in the Travers, lets see if he puts his money where is mouth is now.

Is there any way he can become the all-time money earner?

OK, last time . . . it's not about the money. The connections have more money than Fort Knox . . . it's about prestige, history and more than anything taking the right path for the horse and the fans.
Forget about the purses and money. That said, Travers and BC Classic get ready. |

Travers!
Bloodhorse | Zayat: American Pharoah to Run in Travers
ETA: Ugh. The headline is misleading. No commitment to Travers as yet. |

I heard that Del Mar is talking about the possibility of delaying the Pacific Classic for a week if AP will run. That would give him 4 weeks instead of 3. I don't know if that would make the connections of AP reconsider, but I guess Del Mar thinks it's worth a try.

Listening to comments from Baffert it doesn't sound like he is in love with the new surface.
|
since they said ap won't face older til the bcc, the pac classic is out. and in the bloodhorse article the other day, they said ap was tired after his trip..so i don't know that them saying he was tired bodes well for shipping again at the end of the month.

the horse dictates the schedule. if he's good, he'll run. |
American Pharoah looking fresh and eager
Jay Privman, Del Mar 2015-08-11-DRF Live AMERICAN PHAROAH looked very well this morning, with a gallop under exercise rider Jorge Alvarez notable for the snug hold Alvarez had to have on the reins to keep an apparently fresh and eager American Pharoah from doing more than needed for the day. Trainer Bob Baffert gave American Pharoah an extra day of walking after returning from the Haskell, and even jogged him two days thereafter, so it was a full week from the race until American Pharoah resumed galloping on Sunday. His gallops have all been quite good on Sunday, Monday, and again this morning. If he continues to progress like this, I would expect a very satisfactory breeze on the weekend as he progresses toward his next start, which will be the Travers if -- if -- he doesn't regress. So far, so good. If you want to see American Pharoah -- and why wouldn't you? -- he goes out at 7:45 every morning, right after a renovation break. |
There you go. Bring AP to the Spa, Bob.

so, assuming the Pharaoh enters the Travers, who else is likely to be there? Texas Red, Frosted and Keen Ice i would think. Dortmund and Firing Line are out. any other most likelys out there?
