And the Met Mile winner is.

The hell with the Belmont, which seems like a 2 horse race. Who wins the Met?

Arletta 06-05-2015 10:24 AM

Agree.. Tough race to cap!

knickslions2 06-05-2015 10:24 AM

True North/ Met double is a tasty looking bet. I haven't figured it out yet

dellinger63 06-05-2015 10:30 AM

Heart says Private Zone, brain says Tonalist and Tamarkuz seems like the value but I agree, much better race on paper than the Belmont.

Jasper131 06-05-2015 10:33 AM

I think Wicked Strong could get lost in the betting a little bit and he should get the jump on both Tonalist and Honor Code...His last race I think was a little better than it looked.

Arletta 06-05-2015 10:36 AM

I am leaning towards Tamarkuz right now.

my miss storm cat 06-05-2015 10:42 AM

Tonalist, easily.

RHT2004 06-05-2015 10:51 AM

Bayern or WIcked Strong

Yes!

First glance looks like some nice speed in this one. Sets up nice for Honor Code though I need to look at it some more.

pointman 06-05-2015 11:22 AM

I think it is highly likely that Private Zone and Bayern hook up with even Bay of Plenty dueling up front, I am going to play Kobe's Back who is improving quite a bit and could upset this at a very nice price with a perfect setup.

ateamstupid 06-05-2015 11:23 AM

Tough to go against Tonalist, especially at Belmont. Anyone know why Johnny is riding instead of Rosario though?

It was the owner's call - said he was more comfortable with Johnny V in the Met Mile. Seems really odd to me too..

Indian Charlie 06-05-2015 12:39 PM

I don't like Tonalist here at all.

He's a better horse than I originally thought, but I think he's up against it here, especially if Bayern is back to normal.

What happened to Palace Malice?

Our hearts and brains came up with the same horses, they just picked differently. I also like the McLaughlin horses.

Standing at Three Chimneys.

I was just looking up the farms I might have a chance to visit next week in Lexington and I saw him there. I was kind of surprised myself.

If Bayern is 100% he still isn't faster than Private Zone, and I can argue a case that Pants on Fire is even faster than him. He's going to need to do something he's never done (without wiping out his competitors) and work out a trip from behind the speed. Personally I think he's going to be used up by the 3/8ths pole and struggling by the 1/4 pole with the rest of the speed folding quickly thereafter.

Tonalist is 2nd off a layoff, off a career top, which sets him up (Thorograph-wise) for a huge move forward. And has a preferred style pace wise.

Not trying to talking anyone off anything, it's a fantastic race with a bunch of great horses - I just don't see this as a tough race to find the winner.

IC, what don't you like about him here?

I think Private Zone is the horse to beat, but an unlikely healthy Bayern loose on the lead is dangerous.

I don't think Tonalist is best suited for a fast paced mile, with genuine high quality milers.

Really? Even though he just ran 26 days ago?

No kidding man.

I knew he was eventually going to stand there in 2016, so I'm not confident that he's been officially retired.

Fair enough - I agree that it will be PZ's race to hold onto at the end

declansharbor 06-05-2015 02:04 PM

I wouldn't play Private Zone or Bayern in this spot with monopoly money!

I'd side with Tonalist, or if I was to take a shot at a price, Kobe's back.

Good luck tomorrow everybody!

Yeah, Kobe's back is intriguing, but he never seems to fire against higher quality.

Neat race tomorrow!

But you would think that if the pace collapses like it should, he has a big chance of hitting the board at a huge price.

Private Zone just doesn't collapse. His two Vosburghs and Cigar Mile races are tough as nails.

RHT2004 06-05-2015 05:23 PM

Why would anyone like PZ tomorrow? Bayern gets to dictate this time, huge difference.

How does a markedly slower horse dictate pace?

knickslions2 06-05-2015 05:43 PM

9 or 10 look like winner. Pace has gotta be fast

Bayern is slower then PZ? I dont see that at all and I have the pps open. Last race was over right away. When Bayern got off bad the race was over. And if he gets off bad again tomorrow the race is probably over again and horses like WS, HC and Tonalist wont have a prayer. I expect a huge effort from Bayern. 2nd time back, over a track where you can argue he ran his most impressive race ever.

I would use him over Tonalist. I think Tonalist got a dream setup last time. I think he's like the 5th most likely winner tomorrow. I guess he can win, but why take him at 2-1 vs this stacked field. In the words of the great Kenny Powers, I could be wrong, but Im not.

1st quarter of Bayern's last four stake route races:

01Nov14 SA12 ft 1-1/4 STK 7 1 1 24.84s bl Garcia, Martin
20Sep14 PRX12 ft 1-1/8 STK 4 1 2 24.36s bl Garcia, Martin
23Aug14 SAR12 ft 1-1/4 STK 2 1½ 24.27s bl Garcia, Martin
27Jul14 MTH12 ft 1-1/8 STK 2 1 1 23.44s bl Garcia, Martin

1st quarter of Private Zone's three stake route races:

07Mar15 GP10 ft 1M STK 5 1 1½ 22.52s bl Marquez, jr., CarlosH.
29Nov14 AQU10 ft 1M STK 1 1 2 22.26s bl Pedroza, MartinManuel
30Nov13 AQU8 ft 1M STK 10 1 1½ 22.61s bl Pedroza, MartinManuel

So yes. PZ is very much faster than Bayern, by about 9 lengths. Can he hang on for a mile against these? I doubt it, IC thinks so and I hold his opinions in high regard, so may include, but Tonalist to me is the play.

If Honor Code walks out of the gate again not sure he can run down these types. Bayerns pattern off of a bad race says hes ready to fire here.

With you here. Just don't think Tonalist is fast enough. This race has Bayern written all over it.

He says Bayern loose on the lead is dangerous, I totally agree. But the other guy is saying he respects IC opinion and PZ is 19 lengths faster. Kinda confusing guys.....

cakes44 06-06-2015 03:10 PM

Not sure what I said was confusing. I think bayern wins in the lead or not on the lead and I don't think Tonalist is fast enough to win this race regardless of how it's run.
