Breeders Cup Keeneland

Anybody that has been to Keeneland with seat suggestions?

You'll probably get just as good of a view from your San Diego high-rise as you will from many of the seats being offered.

tanner12oz 02-25-2015 05:44 PM

Paddock view...parking lot view :-)

saratogadew 02-25-2015 05:56 PM

I like anywhere in the 3rd floor grandstand. Looks like 425. for the 2 day ticket.

That thought had crossed my mind :p

It appears the seats will go quickly and I will not be able to pull the trigger on any until later in the day.

I think it was Andy Serling that said (paraphrasing) 'A cold rainy day at Keeneland might be worse than a winter's day at AQ.'

So I was looking at the 84 Club....but it is also nice and cozy in the Casino's of Las Vegas !

Capping tix at 28k

South Beach Luv 02-25-2015 07:05 PM

We're going, my wife will be shooting her first BC, but I'm staying either in our hotel room or a nearby bar to watch it both days.

Any reserved seat that day would be nice. For the Bluegrass I was able to snag a single seat in the finish line section. Overslept by 15 mins that morning and pickings were slim. Can't imagine it'll be easy to get one for this occasion.

F5 F5 F5 as fast as you can with a minute to post would be my advice.

I was at keeneland for the shade well turf mile this year and it was insanely cold. The wind whipping on the hill, whipping across the track was awful. Grandstand doesn't get any sun..
was cold as hell

Thanks ! Thinking Vegas might be a better choice this year- have been spoiled by the Southern CA weather for the past few years. The freezing at Arlington still gives me PTSD.

dellinger63 02-26-2015 08:50 PM

The monsoon at Monmouth was lovely. Also remember a BC Friday at Churchill so cold and damp we left early. Almost killed this board's Irishman and Hooves and wife who arrived from FLA.

IMO AP wasn't that bad unless you were in the temporary bleachers.

richard burch 02-26-2015 09:19 PM

never been there but it looks absolutely beautiful at Keeneland on TV. Very green.

couldn't have selected a better track.

Been there one time for the Rood & Riddle Dowager a couple of years ago. Started the day by having breakfast in the track kitchen next to Bobby Ussery and then watching the workouts. It is absolutely beautiful and a great horseplayers environment. But this will be one Breeders Cup that will be better in the comfort of my own home with Xpressbet at my fingertips. I just don't see how they'll handle the crowds. Love the track!

its perfection. Everyone goes above and beyond at keeneland

tanner12oz 02-27-2015 05:26 PM

Is this seriously going to be as hot of a ticket as everyone thinks? Tix are super expensive. Seems like its going to be the thoroughbred elites and that's about it

saratogadew 02-27-2015 08:33 PM

hotels in Lexington are mostly gone. So I would say yes, hot ticket.

tanner12oz 03-04-2015 05:36 AM

Lot of tix are gone already through advance ticket sales...will be even less then 28k when the tix are released to the public today

LOL - That's where we were

Vegas Baby !

outofthebox 03-04-2015 10:27 AM

Going to dry my best to qualify for the BCBC for a nice cozy seat. Otherwise going to have to settle for the big screen in my living room. Good luck to everyone finding their desired seats.

OldDog 03-04-2015 11:07 AM

Sorry, the system is unable to handle more requests at this time. Please try again later.

OldDog 03-04-2015 11:21 AM

How does "your current wait time" go UP from 7 minutes to 10 minutes to 12 minutes and so on . . . now up to 23 minutes?

This blows.

OldDog 03-04-2015 11:37 AM

36 minutes . . .

Seems as if I stay on for an hour I'll have an hour wait time. 2 hours, 2 hour wait time.

That makes sense.

bare it all 03-04-2015 12:02 PM

Most of the desired seats are already sold out.

OldDog 03-04-2015 12:06 PM

All we wanted was general admission. Took an hour, but we got them.

:)

Statement from Craig Fravel on BC Ticket Sales

“We are extremely pleased with the incredibly high demand for tickets to the 2015 Breeders’ Cup World Championships at Keeneland. Since we opened up public sales at 12 p.m. ET today we have sold approximately 25,000 tickets through 5,500 unique transactions. Most of the reserved seating available for both October 30 and 31 sold out within hours. However, there remains some highly desirable inventory including General Admission for both days, and limited availability in the trackside Bourbon Lounge located at the top of the stretch featuring expansive views of the action. We encourage fans to visit Breederscup.com or call 1-877-TIX-4CUP (call center hours are M-F, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. ET). We also have great seats in both the Entertainment Center and Keene Barn. We greatly appreciate fans being patient with our ticketing system while we processed the unprecedented volume of inquiries during the first hour of ticket sales and sincerely apologize for any inconvenience.

“Total ticketing for the 2015 Breeders’ Cup is projected at 77,000 for the two days (tickets for The Hill & The Meadow are per car, and allow access of all occupants of the car, so the estimated attendance is 42,000-45,000 each day). After today’s public sales, we have sold 60,000 of those tickets, and have approximately 17,000 available.”

I started trying at 12 and finally got my GA tix at 1:20..got alot of errors for the first 10 mins then got put into a queue that went up and up in time...a couple times the buy screen popped up..i hit buy and it just put me back into the queue. I totally expected all of this though...websites simply can't handle the pressure..it would make sense to stagger the sales. Sell Friday tix one day Saturday another day...sell all GA on one day reserved another day..anything to take some heat off

bare it all 03-04-2015 07:28 PM

I can't believe they are daring to add the "car attendees"... You are tailgating. You won't see a horse except on the big screen TVs. You'll be better served sitting in your home and saving your travel $$ and betting. I really wanted to go to a Breeders Cup not in California. Being on the East Coast and a young middle class mom with a small child excludes me from spending excess amounts of cash on travel and entertainment. We have done Churchill for BC and enjoyed it immensely. When they announced KEENELAND I was elated. That's a mere 5 hour drive and one night in an overpriced hotel and at most 2 days of a babysitter for the kiddo. Sad part is I've realized a trip to Santa Anita would actually be cheaper most likely (and far more enjoyable) than this years BC would be. Very, very disappointing but there will be more breeders cups. I'm just embarrassed how badly the ticketing system worked and how badly the average fan was treated.

tanner12oz 03-04-2015 07:58 PM

I'm the average fan and feel I was treated just fine.. Waited an hour and a half in the queue but its too be expected. Everyone is trying to go and everyone is trying to get in at the same time..hot concerts, sports events etc all have the same caveats...you ever try to get Paul McCartney tix? Now that's a hard ticket...

largo1 03-05-2015 11:43 AM

Bought tickets today!! Now to find a hotel…..

largo1 03-05-2015 05:25 PM

I'm pretty stoked!!! Gonna drive in from cincinnati and stay at the 21 c hotel. Should be an awesome day. Hope to pick up some rich men there!!! Hahahaha!!

saratogadew 03-05-2015 05:35 PM

21 c hotel "under construction and expected to be completed by the end of 2015. Unless your staying in Louisvile. I would hate to see you get shut out last minute in Lexington if its not completed by BC time.

geeker2 03-06-2015 09:15 PM

If you need a hotel room for BC, PM me. I still have two rooms reserved at Comfort Suites in Lexington.

I'll be at the MGM Vegas....

tanner12oz 03-07-2015 07:53 AM

BC reporting on twitter that GA tix are about gone

largo1 03-08-2015 11:14 AM

Thanks for the hotel tip Saratogadew. I'll keep an eye on that.

tanner12oz 03-08-2015 01:32 PM

Thunder Gulch 04-10-2015 10:54 AM

Bought 6 and will have at least 2 xtras. Shoot me a pm if interested. 3rd level Section I reserved.

richard burch 04-12-2015 10:06 PM

Never there but Keeneland looks so beautiful on TV...very green.

but I hear the outside area is like something out of Deliverance.

tanner12oz 04-13-2015 05:19 AM

Very green is correct. If you consider some of the most historic farms in the history of the sport "scenes from deliverance" then I guess your right. I've never seen anything weird and I've been all over Lexington and surrounding areas over the years. Keeneland is a class act and even with the BC crush if its keeneland staff its going to be handled well
