Iotapa is interesting based off her last SA race and the likely to need a race Beholder, if she is even herself anymore after setbacks.

ateamstupid 09-24-2014 10:20 PM

That's such an awesome lineup that it almost makes you forget how stupid the re-naming of all these stakes was.

The Distorted Humor - Peppers Pride 2yo debuts in the fourth race.

Too bad the Zenyatta 2yo isn't in there!

Gotta put something on Lord Nelson in the 2yo race.

blackthroatedwind 09-27-2014 09:01 AM

I see Angela Renee has been made the favorite for the 2YO Filly race. For the sake of the breed I hope there are more than a few better than her in that race.

Yes but guess who owns Santa Anita and the horse Awesome Again.
That was an executive decision.

RockHardTen1985 09-27-2014 10:47 AM

Im betting against Beholder in multi race plays. I want to get live to beat her on rolling pick 3's. Iotapa is obviously a legit threat and I think the 1 is improving and is clearly a dirt horse. Maybe Iotapa is like 6-5 and its nothing clever but 2-1 on the ML compared to 1-2 for Beholder, Im hoping its something like that at post time.

I'm with you that she might not be that good, but on paper that's a pretty soft field. Plus cant you make the excuse that she hated the slop last time?
I dont think she's even the best 2yr Bernardini filly in the barn, but I guess they are high on her. Why else send her out there to race over the track?

I love Shared Belief.

Incredible performance on what looked like an off day.

I dont know about that, a horse took him to the 8 path the first turn, then others never gave him a break.

He was 10 lengths best.

I don't disagree. He's special. I thought he was quitting before the final quarter. Then boom. Light goes on.

I don't get it. My remark awhile back about some tracks running stakes races after famous horses, in races that don't make sense?

Yeah, that was extremely impressive.

Big MOFO. It will be interesting to see how far he can go.

There were three very impressive winners on that card today.

Indian Charlie 09-27-2014 07:40 PM

Oh yeah, and about Shared Beliefs win today.

That was a pretty bush league move by Baffert and Espinoza. After that whining by Baffert about how people enter speed against Game on Dude, he basically uses Sky Kingdom today as nothing more than a tool to take Shared Belief out of the race.

Watching that, it would be hard to dispute that him floating out into the first turn was intentional. It looked like Smith and Espinoza might have been jawing at each other during the race after that happened.

Hey Bob, look up the meaning of the word hypocrite.

And no RHT, I don't want to hear your robotic response defending your hero.

I didn't think I'd ever see Baffert resort to such sour grape tactics.

ateamstupid 09-27-2014 07:41 PM

WOW. That was 10 times more impressive than his Pacific Classic win. What a monster.

100% agree..Bushleague Bob. To bad SA doesn't have Trakus..Amazing effort. How about 2yo American Pharoah running faster than Beholder albeit easier trip.

Santa Anita does have trakus. Shared Belief ran 66 more feet than Fed Biz.

Rileyoriley 09-27-2014 08:01 PM

Congratulations to Beholder as well. Going for a repeat in the BC Distaff. If she wins, she'll join Goldikova as the only 3 time winners but she'll be the only won to do it in 2 different BC races.:)

I hope Mandella was right that was she was short for that race, I thought she ran ok but really needs to move forward off that effort.

I saw it more for Espinoza wanting to beat SB for California Chromes changes but I guess the Baffert angle makes more sense.

Should be a good story on what was said after the race, look forward to hearing it.

I never understand a comment like this, not picking on you.....its related to price the way I see it. I am not convinced he is going to win, he probably is something like 30-35 percent so if he is 5/2 I could see betting him but he wont be.

No horse is 100% to win a race.

Interesting Casp, thanks for posting it. Looks like Espinosa doubled up with his CC ride last week. On that PA Derby note, I wonder why noone puts in a rabbit in Bayerns races to soften him up ? ;)

pointman 09-28-2014 11:53 AM

Per Jay Privman on Twitter, Espinoza has been called in by the stewards to explain his actions yesterday. Wonder if Baffert will be called in too.

EDIT: Privman also tweeted that he spoke to steward Tom Ward, when he asked if they were calling Espinoza in, Ward responded, "yes, and maybe Mr. Baffert too."
