ROYAL ASCOT: Paul Jones' Stat Guide/Analysis

Nick Luck pushed Paul Jones' Royal Ascot analysis package and it's hard to believe you'll find a handier, more concise resource if you're playing this week: http://www.attheraces.com/ascot/race...ts&hlid=525278

Awesome, Thanks Steve

wac 06-16-2014 11:33 AM

are there any past performances for the races at Asc? if so, what do they look like and where do you get them?

PatCummings 06-16-2014 12:12 PM

Have been in Newmarket all week - saw the works from Cordero/Crown the Kitten/Sunset Glow today out of Wesley Ward's lot, and would highly recommend Cordero, who runs Saturday in the Chesham Stakes. He's quite high strung, but was soaring over the ground. Have backed Hootenanny at 8-1 for Tuesday's Windsor Castle Stakes, and even took 40-1 on Ward for leading trainer...he's wildly confident with some he has.

Thanks for your insight... am sitting out the baby races but rooting for the Channon filly, Loretta Martin (isn't that a great name?!), in that one. Liked her first race, love him, loved her dad... hope she's a good one.

Have a wonderful time.

wac 06-16-2014 02:59 PM

thanks Steve, i guess i need to ask what do you do with these? just look at the class of race that the horse was in and read the notes to the right? They sure look a lot different then what im used to. i have tagged TVG tues-Fri am for these races b/c its good races and i always get a kick out of how everyone is so dressed up. i liked it better when tvg actually sent Simon and Shrup over there was always entertaining.

That is the 'Omni' bet that provides opportunity to bet any combo of 2 horses getting in the money: 1st-2nd, 1st-3rd, 2nd-3rd.

Kasept 06-17-2014 08:53 AM

Wesley Ward continues his dazzling record in those 2yo races at Royal Ascot.

Judging by the way Hootanany ran today, I think about 50 horses in the OBS June fire-sale and about 10 two-year-olds currently based at PID could have won that race today.

As great as the Euro's are with longer distance, older grass horses -- they really don't seem capable in early season 2yo sprints.

I think there has been less then 6 2 year old races in NY in 2014..I maybe wrong by a couple but there is hardly a bunch of stock ready in NY nevermind England

Everyone thinks they can develop the next Zenyatta.

California Chrome had already made three starts, by this date on last year.

Scav 06-17-2014 07:45 PM

Watching on BEin Sports right now in HD.

I really dont understand how all tracks havent converted to HD. Its simply an amazing sport to watch to HD

senator L 06-17-2014 08:07 PM

Looking forward to the Prince of Wales tomorrow.
Treve is a solid favorite

Anyone like dank tomm? I know treve is powerful but I remember dank from last year and thought a lot of her. Since I can't make heads nor tails of how to read anything about the race I'm handicapping off names

The Fugue awesome in victory stylishly over Magician and Treve.

ateamstupid 06-18-2014 09:53 AM

The NYRA Rewards tip sheet picked the trifecta (5-15-10) cold in the opener today. Pretty impressive in a 23-horse field.

New course record by a good margin.

wac 06-18-2014 10:12 AM

did Dank do anything in the race??? im at work and dont have access. was she competitve at all???

atolunch 06-18-2014 10:18 AM

Never a factor, not in the top 5 entire race.

wac 06-18-2014 10:25 AM

that sucks. really like that horse esp after Arlington but maybe she is just in over her head a little in Grp 1 in Eur. didn't like treve b/c of the ground just picked wrong horse. isnt Fugue the horse that got shafted in BC when she got shut off in the stretch???

Yes, that was in the 2012 edition. Last year she got nailed late by Magician in the BC after racing wide throughout...Ground was very hard. Commentators mentioned that Treve looked a bit short in her stride in her warm ups. Dank as mentioned in a previous post, had no visible excuse...

Headed back for the third day out of the four tomorrow - hoping Sunset Glow can get another as Ward-for-leading-trainer is still in play. That said, bet of the day for me will be Rizeena in the Coronation Stakes (Race 4 #9).

Considering the massive spend on Sony and 4K for the World Cup, I figure by the time racing finally does convert to HD, 4K will be widespread.

Telescope was unreal.

Bein Network is absolutely unreal and the races and telecast was simply stunning. Only issue I have is its owned by our friends Al Jazeera Media Networks. I have to give them credit, the network is on a different level they spare no expense, broadcasts and coverage on all of their sports are simply amazing.

freddymo 06-23-2014 09:44 AM

Speaking of horses dying... Seems as though 3 horses sadly died at Ascot. No race day meds, no drugs because we all know drugs are not OK in elite european racing specially among Arab connections and on grass to boot the worlds safest surface. Goes to prove its a brutal game right Pat Cummings?

brockguy 06-25-2014 03:15 PM

For all those looking for a trip overseas to go racing, I can't recommend Royal Ascot enough - an absolutely brilliant few days of racing, being in the Royal Enclosure is one of life's joys as I am sure the lads from Chicago will concur when they get back - it does help if you have a few winners but if not, you can drink plenty of Pimms :)
