Its HD now on Direct/Dish or stream?

What tracks do they show in HD, I assume NYRA and Ky?

booner 04-04-2014 01:18 PM

Not in HD on Dish. Hope it comes soon.

I like the valet and jockey cams. Something different to liven things up....

Don't like how they turned my 60in TV into a 20in

Agreed. More screen real estate needs to be of the live racing.

An easy fix if they choose to do so.

pointman 04-04-2014 01:25 PM

Can there really be any improvement with TVG until they get all the clowns off the bus?

SilverRP 04-04-2014 02:50 PM

What a bunch of douches. They say I'm watching the first ever hd broadcast of racing coast to coast. Um, no I'm not. I have dish.

Indian Charlie 04-04-2014 03:16 PM

They really need to bring back Rudolph.

knickslions2 04-04-2014 05:17 PM

Never thought I would need my track binoculars to see the tv screen

helicopter11 04-04-2014 09:21 PM

Terrible setup. Why would I care about Purse info and race conditions while watching the race in process? And is that information needed to occupy half the screen?

K.I.S.S. Keep It Simple Stupid

Needing the Wire 04-04-2014 10:12 PM

I can barely read the scroll to see prices. The colors "blend" and the font is so thick it is hard to tell the difference in "6" and "8"..."1" and "7" when checking Pk3's and Pk4's.

Saw some of the Keene and SA races today and I had trouble seeing the saddle cloths until they got 50 yards from the wire. Was looking from PP's to the screen and back to try and identify my silks.

The screen is Vertically stretched and if you choose Full Screen it blurs terribly. Going to be patient through the weekend but track feeds through XB video will be running as well.

Alabama Stakes 04-04-2014 11:42 PM

when the day started they were showing the race on the full screen. i don't know what happened to that.

tanner12oz 04-05-2014 08:38 AM

I have dish and the setup is awful....1/3rd screen racing muddies everything and I have no clue what's going on...too many moving pieces on the screen making it hard to focus on anything when 4 parts of the screen are moving...as bad as the hrtv format was its now superior to tvg

Port Conway Lane 04-05-2014 10:53 AM

Call your cable or satellite provider and request that they show the signal in HD.
After an hour of back and forth with tvg and dish the best answer I got was from dish. They claim there is a middle man who collects from both the broadcaster and provider. The MM is in a dispute with dish as to how much dish needs to pay for the signal.
I put in a request to dish to have them show it and will continue to do so everyday. If they get enough requests the chances will increase that it could be shown eventually.
Don't waste your time complaining here, call your provider instead.

10 pnt move up 04-05-2014 02:38 PM

Whats with the box and making the actual race about 1/3rd of the screen? Who comes up with that and says "thats a good idea".

Left Bank 04-05-2014 03:54 PM

My complaint with TVG is that they delete the TRAKUS info from the tracks that use it, and they do their own thing on the side which is usually wrong.

helicopter11 04-05-2014 06:08 PM

having simon bray walking on the track commenting the post parade is unneccesary

Ocala Mike 04-06-2014 01:28 PM

The new and IMPROVED TVG

Has anyone but me noticed that their "crawl" showing the results from Keeneland (and possibly other tracks) is incorrect with regard to the exacta prices?

For example, in today's 1st race they had the 5/6 exacta paying $12.80 for $2, while that is actually the $1 price.

I sent them an e-mail about it, but it hasn't been fixed yet, I don't think.

Amen...........I also agree with the comments about the screen layout during the races. USE THE FULL SCREEN FOR THE SHOWING OF THE RACE! As has been said on here numerous times, TVG is not about live racing, it's about promoting the 'morons' they have as commentators.

Total pet peeve from yesterday..............had to wait basically an hour to catch abbreviated replays of the late double from Tampa. Pathetic......:zz:

P.S.-- got Dish Network for the first time earlier this week so now at least I can watch HRTV. No comparison how much better they are than TVG.

Pants II 04-07-2014 11:20 AM

It's a disaster. Not surprising.

TVG on-air talent is the equivalent of the Tri-lambs from Revenge of the Nerds but without the humor.

Rich Perloff is another on the "yes" list. His work in the "handicapsule" is terrific on Mondays and Tuesdays dealing with lesser horses, "B" tracks, and making the presentation interesting.

Interesting fact about Megan Devine : She is a graduate of South Side High School here on Long Island, graduating the same time as Crystal Dunn of the US Women's National Soccer team.

Gabby Gaudet should still be with the NYRA crew who put on a much better broadcast with Saratoga Live and Belmont Live. Opened the door for Acacia Courtney who has filled Gabby's ex-role adroitly.

Would move up Tom Amoss as he brings a keen trainer's experience to the broadcasts everywhere. I also find Simon Bray to bring that same insight albeit on a lesser scale. He is paired so often with Todd Schrupp that Simon does not get the same chance to shine on his own.

Sometimes it seems that Mike Joyce and Matt Carothers, both very knowledgable about the game, have become bored with what they are doing and forget that they are lucky to be doing it.

I did laugh about your Candace Hare observation. She could use a stylist on-air, but her knowledge regarding Australian racing is solid.

Leaving Perloff off the list was an error through manual typing. He would definitely be in the top tier. He has reasonable angles and logic for his picks. Schrupp, Joyce and Rudolf were personalities, not handicappers. I'm no Carnac but they aren't any better than me. Carothers tries to win with singling these 8-1 horses who don't have any business being there. I'm sure he hits sometimes but I have never seen it. Simon became a goofball, I don't know what happened to him. I would prefer they just show track feeds and show stats, lots of stats. I can do without the "entertainment" portion of the programming.

As for my dear Candace, sometimes it is better to give thanks to someone like you who says what you feel. Please don't ever mention her "unknown on the planet earth" accent while talking out of the side of her mouth. That would be mean. :)
