"The Song" At the BC
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
Kill me now.... :zz::zz: Crinkle, TRASH CAN |
My husband's comment was that Frank Sinatra didn't so much roll over in his grave as just sighed and farted.
|
My son came out of the room saying "What is that awful music?!" :D
I had to mute it. |
Changed the channel to Delta Downs during that song....
|
But its hip and edgy...

i started watching online early and what got me was the onsite audience being asked to stand for 2 national anthems and a rendition of america the beautiful throughout the day. i'm as patriotic as any but 3 flag ceremonies? are we trying to prove that horse race fans are more patriotic than those leftists at the world series who only stand once? |
What about Richie Sambora's Call to Post? :zz:

When that came on I wanted to puke! NBC Sports was doing a good job with the races that lead up to the Classic and then we got a version of Entertainment Tonight.from NBC....what the hell does Billy Bush know about horse racing. Then they larded out the celebs with their pick of Game on Dud. And that clinched it for me to dump him . If I could get HRTV I would have changes it but I could not (thank you Direct TV). Fortunately at that point I was feeling pretty good at the BC party I was having and I was waiting to root home my p4. All in all a good day until NBC came on and thank god there was not another step left in the race!::$::zz:

However his pre-performance interview he said he follows the sport and he mentioned that "Fire and Ice" will beat "Wild Dan" in the 11th. If you follow the sport, how do you not know the name of the 2013 HOY |
As a lover of musical theater and huge fan of Kristen Chenowith I enjoyed it. However, I understand how horseplayers may have been very put off. Definitely a poor choice of venue.

Stop picking on Oklahomans!

Maybe it's better than it sounded on my tv, but I'm not gonna listen to it again to find out. If they're not gonna get someone who fits that style of song to sing it, pick another one. |

This about sums it up from The Bleacher Report with their piece on the winers and losers at the Breeder's Cup:
"I was seriously ready to reserve this slot for a horse that disappointed during the Classic ... but ... Kristen Chenoweth stood in the winner's circle and sang The Best is Yet to Come. For some folks, perhaps this was a charming warm up for the Breeders' Classic, the greatest race on American soil (yeah, take that Kentucky Derby!). It was irritating. It was, dare I say, out of place, disconcerting and unsettling. All right, the subtext makes sense: The best is yet to come. I get it. The meaning of the song is implicit and the Classic is befitting of a song that tells it how it is. But when four guys in a hotel room simultaneously recoil at the sight of Chenoweth, that's a telling review. The only thing that bailed her out was the sun setting on the San Gabriel mountains." http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1...-anita/page/11 |
