I would love it. Stevens is a lot of things, but dude can flat out ride (one knee or not) and I would love to see him make a comeback and teach these new guys a thing or two.

i don't think i will ever forget tho that whacky arlington million finish when he and his mount had it won, and the horse ducked out and dropped him right at the line. that had to hurt his pride a lot more than his backside.

If we can get Jerry bailey, Chris McCarron, Pat Day, Eddie D, and Lafit Pincay back then we can send some of these current jocks out the door.

I'm not a fan. Patient Pat always seemed to be too late to the party for me.

Aly-Sheba 12-08-2012 06:18 PM

He only hurt his shoulder. Dumb post.

wasn't he the one that Stevens handed the buzzer to after winning the derby. I wonder what God thought about that.
Hypocrite, money burning, chalk incinerator

Acutally, I thought his post was kind of clever and funny.

Pat Day was a total hypocrite.

Considering he almost died in that spill, I would have to disagree. I can't remember all the injuries he suffered in that spill but I remember he had several fractured ribs and a punctured lung. He said that when he went down in that spill, it was the most pain he had ever had in his entire life. He said that he could hardly breathe and he honestly thought he was going to die.

he returned to riding just three weeks after the spill. and when you get your breath knocked out of you you can barely breathe. christ on the cross, it was an effing flippant remark about his pride being injured. gimme a break.

He only came back briefly and had to take another two months off. He admitted that he came back way too soon and it was a mistake. In addition to the puncured lung, he had a fractured vertebra.

He said he was having trouble breathing because of the punctured lung. The bottom line is it was a horrific spill and he was seriously injured. It wasn't one of those spills where a guy has a sore butt, but his pride is injured more than anything. That does happen all the time, but this was not one of those cases.

GenuineRisk 12-13-2012 01:40 PM

Here's an LA Times article from 2003 that mentions the injuries:

http://articles.latimes.com/2003/aug...rts/sp-horse19

I think the confusion is because some accounts right after the race said it was only a sore shoulder.

And a video. The guy who put this one up set it to "Chariots of Fire" but the fall is a little too terrifying from the front angle to be humorous.

It was actually a collapsed lung (not a punctured lung) and that was why he was having so much trouble breathing. Here is another article about it. He said he felt lucky to be alive.

who would think an offhand remark about a spill would garner so much attention.
