Monday Night Football
Very happy for the people of New Orleans for getting back a team they have supported through mostly bad times.
I'm not real optimistic about their chances tonight(their defense is gonna have fits with Vick) but I'm real glad for the folks down there. |
Yes its a great thing. This city has been through hell and back and they love their football. Kudos to the great city of New Orleans and the NFL for helping the cause as much as they did. I'm not a huge fan but the league is tops.
As for the game I have no clue! |
If they can stop that play where Vick fakes a pass and then goes to his right running the ball they stand a good chance. Anyone ever been to the Superdome? I was there back in like 1989 or something, no game just in town with family. Man that place is huge.

Hopefully they show the real New Orleans (Tippitina's, any place that isn't in the French Quarter, and dare I say...Fairgrounds.) I give N.O. no chance this game. Cleveland and Green Bay were patsies for the 2-0 team home opener. Atlanta's D is, to me, remarkably underrated. They were good last year and improved over the offseason with some free agents. Atlanta will roll over this team. |
I would LOVE to see N.O. win this game...
dont see many punts blocked in the NFL btw |

Lets hear it for all of us who took the Falcons. God ****ing damnit.

Im gonna take a contrary point of view. I dont like a bunch of rich guys, Spike Lee, Joe T (not in the same $ league as Spike), tell me about the suffering of people that are poor. Makes me sick like they are some type of modern day philosopher kings teaching us the message.
True philosopher kings lived humbly and were purposely poor so they could live the life of the people they tried to create social and moral values to live by. Its really hard to listen to people who live a life of luxury talk about suffering. I dont care where THEy HAVE been. Where is the damn priest who is workin butt off everyday living in the same squalor these folks live in everyday...? They are not on in the booth because we would not be interested in them. And have we really dropped low enough to have to have a sporting event to teach us about human tragedy? This whole thing sucks to be me. I love the football... but when Spike gets back in his limo for the airport drinking champagne, New Orleans is a passing thought. |
There. I said it.
|
The game would be better off played in a ****ing hockey rink. God damn NFL.
|
I wouldn't get to worked up about it PG. Anything that isn't a flyover is okay by me.
They're there. They spent some money. That's what the town needs. Meanwhile I look like an idiot. Where the hell is Atlanta's D? The Saints are not this good. |

I have a friend right now would like to spoil everything and say "oh yes this is great, I am sure the man in Dafur Sudan would love this game and all the hell New Orleans went thru as his wife is raped and killed in front of him. Party on New Orleans." Kinda of a party pooper role. I thought I would play the role of the pooper. |
PGRDN,3% of the people here control about 85% of the wealth. When I see you write something about that,I'll take you seriously.
|
Boy, you guys saying the Saints had no chance should stick to horse racing. I thought you guys followed this sport!
|
If you had read my post in the nfl picks folder, I said the Saints were my best play of the week, and to play them on the money line also.
The Falcoons don't play well for long. They have to collapse every 3-4 weeks. Vick is a loser. I would rather have Drew Brees or Reggie Bush. Picking that home MNF dog last night was about as easy as it gets, and YES----I SAID ALL OF THIS BEFORE LAST NIGHT!! +3 and +170 opening line +3.5 and +185 mid-week +4 and +197 at game time Now--this doesn't mean that I won't stink it up this week. Good luck to everyone! |
Were any of the "experts" right about this game. Salisbury was about as wrong as you can be about a game.
|
Football games are a coin toss. 50/50 shot. There are no experts. Your better off guessing like red-black in roullete.

It isn't that I don't know that, I choose to not listen to myself...If I ever get patiences, in all aspects of life, I would be a richer man, and not just financially speaking
|
We all do Tom. Thats why we are stuck working for bum paychecks, just so we can go blow it on the horses on the weekend. Kind of sad in a way. Like a bad country song.

Like I said,I don't take any of your crap serious until you see something wrong with 3% having 85% or more of the wealth of a society.Until you attack that huge problem, you will have stuff like the tragedy in New Orleans continuing to happen. It's not about "social engineering." It's about getting rid of laws that help the very rich get even richer. So many people do what you just did to me.You tell me to go volunteer at a soup kitchen.Yet you don't want to change things to stop favoring the ultra rich. Those people who lost everything in that poor area of New Orleans wouldn't have been helped by soup. They needed action to strengthen those levies. That request(for money to strengthen the levies) had been made, and had then been rejected by the Bush Administration. How can this happen? It happens because we spend the country's resources helping the rich get richer.Huge tax breaks for big oil etc.Believe me,those levies would have been built well and /or reinforced properly if this area was well to do.So,keep going and serving soup as the ultra-rich get richer(and leave less and less for others to improve their lives with.)Maybe if we didn't have huge breaks for big oil, some of these people could have actually afforded to fill their tanks and get out of town. Those billions of profits made by big oil come from tightening the economic noose tighter and tighter on those that can least afford to be giving what little they have to help pay for these 10-30 billion dollar profits for big oil companies. The next time you hear about an oil company making 10 billion dollars,I want you to stop and think how much money(for soup)it actually cost poor people to pay for helping the rich oil companies.Gas prices have gone down 50 cents a gallon, and that's because the oil companies want their buddies to get re-elected.They will say it ain't so.They say prices would have come down anyways.I don't believe that those gas prices would have come down like this.Believe that tripe if ya want.By simply voting against Republicans, one can do a hell of a lot.You fail to see that.Fact is that this party works it's tail off to help guys like Donald Trump get richer, and richer. It works hard to kill funding for projects like fixing those levies. The typical poor person needs money to pay their electric bill, and to buy the over-priced gas to get to work. Most people are in denial about 3 % of Americans owning 85% of all our wealth here.Until that changes, there will be a high crime rate, and a huge poor underclass. |
Gander my good friend life is way too short. You gotta get into a line of work you like. I mean you really have got to ask yourself what do I really love and go for it. I am almost positive my paycheck does not meet yours. But tomorrow I am gonna have some fun. You are into your 30's? Time to start thinking about doing something you love. What is it gonna take, you almost getting killed by a sloppy driver or what?
Yes Pgard I am in my mid 30's but I keep myself in great physical shape, so I seldom feel my age. I wouldnt say I love my job but I dont hate it either. I dont make a ton of money but I suppose I am doing alright by most people's standards. I have a beautiful wife in her 20's so WTF am I complaining about. Thanks, it only took a post from you and not some crazy drunk driver to make me see the light of day. |

ANd I also do not think Republicans RELISH the idea of trying to maintain a small number of very wealthy people and a huge number of poor people. That is a recipe for disaster. It is the basic reason why our neighbors to the south are not economically or politically stable. But of course they have too many babies. So why is it that the majority of poor white Americans have many more kids than wealthy white Americans per family? You blamed Mexico for causing their own population disaster , so how about us? IN ALL ethnic groups having this problem, rich smaller number of kiddos, poor having and abundance of offspring? |
"ANd I also do not think Republicans RELISH the idea of trying to maintain a small number of very wealthy people and a huge number of poor people."-PGRDN
This is exactly what they want. They cherish the huge 10-30 billion dollar oil company profits. You don't remember the Oil Company executive getting paid hundreds of millions of dollars? The Republican Party is very happy to see some guy get 400 million (paid for in large part by gouging poor people that have no choice but to pay it.)Do you see Bush wanting to take away any of the tax breaks these oil companies were given? He supports Big Oil getting richer, and richer(often from the money poor people are forced to give them.)Gee,believe it or not poor people don't do better when Oil Companies make billions. So,your statement is false. The Republican Party is not upset one bit by Oil Companies making billions off of poor people having to pay whatever they ask. They could care less. When Enron was gouging people in California (in 2001,)do you remember Bush helping out the poor people who's electric bills went thru the roof? Uh, no.He could care less about how his buddy Ken Lay(and others) were making bank off the poor. So,you can say it(what you did above) all you want, but Republicans actions speak very loudly against the poor. They aren't going to put it into words, but their actions routinely favor the rich and hurt the poor. |
"Im telling you that redistributing wealth will not work."
And what exactly do you call it when the poor get poorer due to having to pay high gas prices? Is that not redistributing what little wealth they have back to the ultra- rich Oil Companies? It certainly is,and the President wasn't bothered by it one bit.Didn't give a sht that the poor would get even poorer(as the oil companies had record profits.)Not even on his radar screen. |
He we go a crusade against the republicans because of course bush hates poor people and several ethnic groups. Most people are poor because they choose to be. They lack education, a financial sense, and most times a willingness to work until they succede. This is evidenced by the huge amount of people on welfare, that don't have jobs. I work in the inner city man. I'm around homeless and poor people all the time. The key to them being middle class is not to give them money, its to educate them. But one can't educate someone without them wanting it first. There are so many government programs out there to help financally challenged people go to college, but they have to accept it first. I absolutely refuse to just give people money for being poor.

Only so many things you can do. What about all the poor peoples trailers and homes in florida, i think we should strengthen those too. Can't forget about the people in the midwest and the ever present tornados. We should strengthen their houses too. And what about the poor people in cali, the ones that live in an earthquake zone and whose houses and apartments are falling down. You can't blame the government for everything. You simply can't fix everything. Natural disasters are always going to kill people. As for the gas companies making money off people, ya that their job. Everyone makes money off poor people. If you really want a cause to rally around get the cash advance places to close. They are charging people astronomical interest rates to borrow their own money for a few weeks.
|
"As for the gas companies making money off people, ya that their job."
Well,it is not like the oil companies are treated like McDonald's fast food corporation. My God man. They are heavily subsidized by our Government. This is not a free market situation. The largest oil companies merged .Profits increased(which is expected when competition goes away or is highly reduced.)Yet,still they get heavy Corporate Welfare while making 10-30 BILLION A YEAR.Where is your outrage about that waste of money in tax breaks? They get huge tax breaks while making tens of billions of dollars.Unbelievable. |

How many times do I hear that catch phrase..."the poor are poor because they choose to be"! No...the poor are poor because they are poor! Folks that are middle class see the poor as lazy etc because they see the world in a certain way and ASSUME everyone sees it the same! Shadows on the cave wall...one person's reality is another person's unattainable shadow! Middle class values say...work hard=get ahead=better life. Poor folks see life from their daily reality...work hard=run into a brick wall=nothing ever changes. When we assume that everyone's reality is the same, we can never understand each other! The only way to change the perceptions of hopelessness and helplessness that exist in that "other America" today is to build a fair society...and you don't do that by pandering to the rich and powerful! Those levies should have been repaired, the government should consider the needs of all the people not just the rich and influential...handouts aren't what I'm calling for...basic equality is! |
Well lets add drug companies in there too. They make big bank of poor people that can't pay for people their medicine. So what if they get tax breaks, they have a massive amount of capital invested in their operations. If you are pissed off about it get people to stop buying gas. Its real simple, watch the profits fall when no one buys gas. And why are the tax breaks unbeilievable. Just because a company makes money, they shouldn't get tax breaks. THis goes back to back to the basic premise of business. TO MAKE MONEY. Do you think there should be a limit on how much someone can make? Once you hit that point you can't make any more money? How is that fair in any form.
Somer, most poor people are poor beause they choose to be. A lot boils down to insufficent education. You can blame that on a variety of factors, but I really dont want to get into them. My premise is that if poor people were willing to dedicate themselves to becoming better, most times they would. The problem lies within our decandant society that must have everything now. Why people go into massive debt on credit cards that scars them financially for life. The way is to not engineer a middle class but educate the poor to become middle class. |
Well, if you think that they should be getting tax breaks when they have profits of 10-30 billion a year, then we have nothing to talk about.
|
Scuds why should tax breaks be dependent on how much you make. Ask yourself this. How much corporate tax do they pay and how many jobs do they create.
