Petraeus...

One would hope that the Director of the CIA would be better at keeping secrets.

Clip-Clop 11-12-2012 05:32 PM

"All In" now the best title of a book yet.

Danzig 11-12-2012 07:46 PM

I heard on tv that the original title was 'just the tip'

Story now is that the original FBI investigation was into allegations of harassing emails sent by Petraeus' mistress to a woman she thought he was sleeping with. It was through investigating the harassment that the affair came out.

http://gawker.com/5959847/why-has-th...etraeus-Affair

Can I just ask, what is it with women losing their marbles at the other woman (or the other other woman, in this case) and not at the guy who is the one doing the cheating? I'm a feminist, but seriously, I read stuff like this and I am all, bitchez be crazy, bro. Bitchez be crazy.

Rupert Pupkin 11-12-2012 11:08 PM

How Do You Explain This?

This whole thing would have never come out if the mistress didn't threaten that other woman.

geeker2 11-13-2012 09:25 AM

Thank God this came out after the elections :tro::tro:

had it come out before, why would you think it would have had an effect on the election? what does petraus have to do with obama?

Waiting for Bill Clinton to weigh in because, you know, he has insightful opinions on everything.

yeah, i saw about allen.

but, again, what does this have to do with obama? it wasn't barack that was having the affair with petraus.

all these 'smoking guns' that aren't.

and even if petraus is out of the cia, he will still be called to testify on the libyan embassy. and surely you don't think this is all some convoluted scheme by democrats to cover up the embassy attack? what, they knew they'd be attacked back a few years ago, so they made sure the guy who would one day be head of the cia would be in contact with this woman..they preplanned the affair that occurred in 2011?

wow, talk about a conspiracy theory!

of course we are talking about the same people who knew enough to run a birth announcement in the hawaii paper that barack obama had been born, cause they knew someday he'd need that proof when he ran for president.

man, these guys are GOOD.

course, if it was me...i'd have bought yahoo and google stock when i went back and forth in my time machine...;)

Case seems to be getting more and more bizarre. Now they are investigating the investigator. I was going to say he pulled a Weiner, but that doesn't sound exactly right for some reason.:D

Did you watch Stewart last nite or record the show? Another classic...He showed a clip of old show with Paula Broadwell as guest..funny bit there.
Again the usual fox suspects give three conspiracy theories..and his guest is Huckabee, nails Huck couple times...

I think a cyanide pill is in order.

Clip-Clop 11-13-2012 06:12 PM

That photo actually ran last night here on the 5pm news. This story is getting better though now with the FBI agent originally assigned to the case going after the other chick (not Broadwell)with topless photos (we all know how women cannot resist those) she and her husband are also apparently broke.

SOREHOOF 11-13-2012 06:18 PM

I've been saying all along Obama doesn't know sh!t and now the Administration, Carney, the Mainstream Media, and a lot of Liberals agree with me!

so petraus having an affair is a black eye for all the above? seriously?! god in heaven, i didn't know the president would be held responsible for some guy plowing another mans field.

Danzig 11-13-2012 07:06 PM

i tell you it's a shame. 'what is a shame?' you ask.

i just went back and looked thru threads containing ndaa, because i knew at least one or two were begun with that topic of discussion.
this thread, about an affair, has garnered more views, and more replies than the thread about drones in use in florida over a party, and the judge ordering a hold on ndaa. more views/replies than the thread about holder saying it's perfectly legal to kill us citizens without due process.
but let some guy get some strange, and look out!!

The fact that this was covered up till after the election is an issue not to mention that after an obvious screw up in Libya with the CIA directly in the middle of it it is ironic that its director is outed a few days after the election and prior to his testimony on said screw up. Obama didn't cause Petraeus to exercise poor judgement but the timing of the matter is very odd and lets not forget that the President is responsible as he himself has said many times though usually while deflecting the blame elsewhere.

Would it have cost Obama the election? Highly doubtful but i'm sure this story would have been spun far more aggresively had it occured during the election media frenzy as opposed to during the victory lap.

sorry, just don't see that it is a big coverup. if the media isn't making a big deal about the actual attack, with supposed real time knowledge but no action, i don't see why petraus dipping his wick was something to worry about. besides, most people didn't think it was a big deal about clinton, so how could it be with the general?
and he will still be compelled to testify, regardless of whether he is in or out of the cia. i think there would have been something to it had the other woman been a libyan terrorist. other than that, it's just the latest fodder for folks who watch that pageant kid.

and yeah, you're right about the tmz-ization of america. and it's embarrassing.

IMO this is a far bigger issue than just a guy getting caught cheating on his old lady. I'm not blaming the white house though I believe that it is 1-9 that they knew about this since the begining. If the head of the CIA is being investgated by the FBI I find it hard to believe the President was out of the loop. The problem is that the head of the CIA was so profoundly stupid and careless about this in the first place. A person in that job should have impeccable integrity and not be so easily manipulated or caught. Being that the entire organization exists to gather intellegence and use leverage and other means to do that, a pretty obvious affair with a relatively unstable woman seems to be a stunningly ignorant move for a man in that position. I'm not naive enough to think that many men in positions of power (or otherwise) arent unfaithful to their spouses but for a guy like Petraeus who seemed to be an ideal candidate for the job to be so amatuerish is scary. I'm sure Mr Putin is having a good laugh over this.

A coverup is a coverup. IMO it is more about the President saving face before an election especially since the FBI started investigating long before Libya ever happened.

i just don't see it, sorry. he had an affair. it wasn't and isn't a matter of national security.
as for putin, i recall when clinton had his peccadilloes being bandied about, that much of the rest of the world was saying 'what's the big deal?'.

is it odd timing? sure. but then, i doubt there's ever a good time for the wife of 37 years to find out something like this. he was a powerful man, and powerful men do stupid things, just like the rest of us. but luckily for the rest of us, no one cares what we do.

Everything the head of the CIA does is a matter of national security. If he is willing to break the rules and put himself in compomising situations how do we know what he might have been willing to do to keep those secrets?

I'm sure if Mr Putin had information that he could use as leverage on Petraeus do you believe he would hesitate to use that?

You think that the FBI has been investigating the head of the CIA for months and the White House is claiming the President didn't know about it is truthful? You dont think if when Obama started slipping a bit in the polls that this story breaking wouldn't have hurt him even if just slightly? It might not have effected the final result but are you ok with the White House lying to us about a matter that you feel isnt of national security?
