randallscott35 09-23-2006 12:36 PM

Can you please stop betting, we don't need posts like this every other day.

Seattleallstar 09-23-2006 12:36 PM

I mean Randall, how the **** does this horse lose.

randallscott35 09-23-2006 12:37 PM

Jerry,

the horse has seconditis. Is stretching out another furlong and drew the rail at Belmont. Plus coming off a career best. At 1/2 its not a bet, its a pass if you think he wins.

Scav 09-23-2006 12:38 PM

Prado's fault on this, he keep on looking at the rail and didn't see Gomez coming, IMO

Seattleallstar 09-23-2006 12:39 PM

i played a 4 dollar pk 4, had a big exacta bet, and a huge win wager

Seattle,
This kind of stuff isn't helping you get a grip on your stress management.
Bad words will get you 15 minutes in the confession booth.
Have you considered taking a break?

Danzig 09-23-2006 12:41 PM

looks like seattle broke his piggy bank...perhaps you should start pretend betting with monopoly money. that way we could be spared your toddler temper tantrums since you wouldn't really lose anything.

Rupert Pupkin 09-23-2006 12:46 PM

It's so pointless to bet these odds-on favorites. If I like a horse that is going off at 1-2 odds like that horse, I would pass the race. There is no way you are going to make money over time betting on 1-2 shots. Even if you hit 6 out of every 10 of these bets, you would still lose money. It's a losing proposition.

Danzig 09-23-2006 01:11 PM

maybe steve could make a 'seattles losing bets temper tantrum' room, and he could go there with these inane threads instead of polluting the paddock...

hey, we need a shovel in here! add this to the compost heap.

Cunningham Racing 09-23-2006 01:33 PM

When a first-time starter is composed enough to run down a clear, odds-on favorite like that - I give credit to the quality of the horse...

This was a 3-horse race all the way to me:

The expensive FuPeg baby for Kimmel, obviously Zito's colt and the winner - WHO IS OUT OF MAYBE THE HOTTEST BROODMARE IN THE INDUSTRY RIGHT NOW...Sassy Pants has not one - BUT TWO FREAKS to race!...Madcap Escapade was a freak and now Dubai Escapade might be even better - but they are two of the fastest fillies along with Xtra Heat that we may have seen in the last 10 years - both from the same dam....

So don't blame Prado and Zito...if their colt was that special he would have won already in three starts IMO....I know that Real Estate is only a High Yield, but he is a 3/4 brother to 'Madcap' - so he has right to be a runner....when you are a baby running in MSW at Belmont this time of year - there is a VERY good chance that you're going to hook some horses with very high profiles and all of the ingrediants to be top class - and that is exactly what Most Distinguished hooked....I wasn't surprised by the outcome...I boxed the 3 I mentioned in an Exacta :)

If we could grow some mushrooms in that compost, we might make enough money to cover the bad bets.

Why would anyone that knows anything about betting horses put a "huge" win bet on a 1/2 shot? I learned my lesson a long time ago. It was the '78 Champagne and I put $100 to win on General Assemble at about 1/5 (don't remember the exact odds). Anyhow, this gray horse who went on to win the Derby and Preakness the next year went off at 5/2 and won easily

Danzig 09-23-2006 02:01 PM

good question slewbopper. i'd rather bet a few bucks on a live shot than put a big bet on a 'sure thing' and go back and get 2.10 for every 2. or foam at the mouth at wasted money when they lose...

Scav 09-23-2006 02:15 PM

I am surprised the winner wasn't played a little more. First time starter from Levine who was a half to Dubai/Madcap Escapade......

if something like that had a hold of me, i'd be crying too.

Pedigree Ann 09-23-2006 02:51 PM

What? Real Estate got to the races and I missed it? I had this one marked out last weekend for the Pick 6 contest and it scratches. Forgot to put it on my stable watch so I miss another chance. How did this one pay $15?

2MinsToPost 09-23-2006 04:05 PM

pillow made me laugh like no other

Seattleallstar 09-24-2006 07:49 AM

instead of playing horses today after church im gonna play in a poker tournament. 250 dollar buy in, 1st place is guranteed 10k.

Bold Reasoning 09-24-2006 11:25 AM

I really only like Prado on longshots. That is how I collected on those Sarava and Birdstone Belmonts.:D

i think experts recommend that you take a temper-tantrum throwing child by the hand and lead them to a room, shut the door and leave them alone. that way they don't have an audience. of course i'm sure that kasept has more important things to do than make a 'solitary confinement' spot on here!! lol

I've been lobbying for a 'hysterical rants' section for a while but a 'time out' section would be great too...but only if the list of those taking a time out is visible to the rest of us...that would be endlessly entertaining.

Seattle,
I'm not even going to comment on the stupidity of playing 1-5 shots to WIN.
But I was on my way down to Belmont and was on the phone with Randall Scott on Saturday. I explicity told him that I thought he might be a seconditis type horse and was going to make two bets on the race. A larger one with Jagerman on top of Most Distinguished. And a saver bet with the winner on top of Most Distinguished.
I wish I had liked the winner more than Jagerman, who broke slowly and rushed up a dead rail to make the lead, but i didn't.
After the race was over noone I was near was asking your question of how could he lose. Just about everyone was unanimous that we may have another "My Friend Bernie" on our hands. You could see the horse ease himself up after making the lead and wait on horses. Blaming Zito or Edgar is quite foolish. Nick obviously had the horse ready for a nice effort, and Edgar gave a perfect ride. The thing you will apparently never understand is that they are animals with personalities. They are not machines. This horse is obviously a "hanger" or "cheater" type who wants to run in company with other horses.
Now that Nick and Edgar realize this without a shadow of a doubt, I imagine different tactics or equipment will be used in the future.
Betting 1-5 shots to win is insane. You could have bet place or show and gotten near the same payoff, which is still insane, but slightly less so than betting a 1-5 shot to win.
If you have an idea or ideas in other parts of a "pik" bet, then singling one can be justified. But did you actually blow a paycheck on a win bet?

Seattleallstar 09-25-2006 09:45 AM

why doesnt these short priced bastards win when i bet them or single them, like that god damn biancone/leparoux horse at saratoga. Deep closer on grass, then they let the leader get away with some god damn crawling fractions on the front, cost me pk6

oracle80 09-25-2006 10:06 AM

Seattle the better question might be as to how long you are going to keep up the insanity.
The definition of insanity is to repeat the same action over and over again expecting a different result. Since I've known you, you have repeatedly stuck to the "strategy" of making large bets keying odds on horses.
Heres a newsflash, if the game was that simple then noone would work. They would just bet big favorites every day and live a life of leisure.
Repeat after me, bet a little to try and win a lot. Not bet a lot to try and win a little.

Seattleallstar 09-25-2006 10:11 AM

its your fault, you havent been online to talk and i lost your phone number.
