And the "Secret Special Speaker" at tonights GOP convention is ...
Clint Eastwood!
He'll be speaking before Marco Rubio. Clint endorsed Romney a few months back. |
Quote:
ABC was guessing it would be him last nite...Today they said the surprise should be Romney with the right message...Geez, Clint one of my all time favs on the other side...:( |
Another speaker is Cardinal Timothy Dolan.
You might remember him as starting the policy to just pay off child-molesting priests to leave the priesthood, to keep it all quiet. Nice guy. Mitt will probably lie about the same shi.at Ryan did last night. Ryan really blew a good chance doing that. The fact checkers have destroyed him today. He gave a rousing speech - filled with lies. Ryan had an interview today with Scott Peltier (sp?) of CBS, played on CBS News tonight. Scott asked Ryan about his lie about why the countries credit rating was dropped (Ryan blamed Obama solely) - which S & P said was due to "congressional Republicans" of which Ryan is the leader. Ryan says, "that's not true" Scott says, "Here, I'll read it to you" ... Ryan interrupts and goes, "That's not what S & P said, blah, blah, blah" and goes on for about a minute. Scott looks him in the eye and reads it anyway " ... dropped due to Congressional Republicans". Ryan is all, "well, that's not the way I think it happened". Fuc.k.ing liar. |

Repubs are running on the platform of "Look at how bad the past four yrs have been", when they should be finding tangible ways to make the country better. That said, they were still some well written speeches. |
Loved this quote enough to share it.

My favorite part of his comedy act...
I would just like to say something, ladies and gentlemen. Something that I think is very important. It is that, you, we -- we own this country. We -- we own it. It is not you owning it, and not politicians owning it. Politicians are employees of ours. And -- so -- they are just going to come around and beg for votes every few years. It is the same old deal. But I just think it is important that you realize , that you're the best in the world. Whether you are a Democrat or Republican or whether you're libertarian or whatever, you are the best. And we should not ever forget that. And when somebody does not do the job, we got to let them go. :tro: |
One of many:)

http://thenewcivilrightsmovement.com...12/08/30/47820 Call me crazy (you usually do) but I doubt the Marxist currently occupying the White House will offer anyone with contrasting views an opportunity to speak at his little party next week. |

My point, for those here that clearly missed it, was agreeing with Eastwood that we are responsible for what our government does. You don't have to vote Dem or GOP - but you have to participate in the political process, and ultimately vote.
Our government is exactly what we have chosen over the years. Bitching about it is easy, changing it hard, saying it's too hard to change is lazy. Clint was elected Mayor as a Republican, describes himself as Libertarian at times, but supports environmental causes, believes in right to abortion, and helping the poor. Fiscally conservative, socially generous. He's basically an old-school "Eisenhower Republican" |

He's basically useless like George Clooney. A paid shill that the sheep know.
Either he's nuts or doesn't know what he stands for. Because Mitt Romney is anything but conservative. |
Quote:
If Romney gets elected and owns enough guys in congress, he will deregulate and privatize all the treasury funds he can (Medicare and ACA, Social Security, defense spending) The Tea Party and all the social crap, the race-baiting, the religious extremism, the outrageously conservative GOP platform, etc. is just a distraction for the little people and media - it's part of the Lions-Christians Colosseum show mix put on by the Emperors to make the some still want to vote "R" They are being used. This is not to say Dems are without fault. But I think the Democratic Party is still a real political party. The current GOP is not. The best that would happen is for the Libertarians/Tea Party to refuse to cowtow to Romney and friends, and create a strong third party to replace the fading former Republican (read businessman) Party's place as the alternative major party in the country. |

Hey you know what I noticed last weekend? You had this incredible day... just brilliant. So not to get too personal or anything but do you suppose there was any kinda correlation between your truly phenomenal day and the fact that weren't down here having a toxic play date? Just wondering. :D |
I think the better outcome is Obama getting re-elected.
The conservatives will b.itch and moan but life will go on. If Obama loses there could be riots in big cities...thus all the weird supply orders by big brother |

The "moderate and intellectual conservatives" (Colin Powell, etc) have abandoned and call themselves independents. Jeb Bush is hanging on to the party, but he see's what is going down, as does Condi Rice. The Republican Party brand is now a shell corporation owned by Romney-Adelson-Koch types. Citizens United was a big step in that. The Libertarians and Paulites have figured it out. They won't play with that GOP any more. That's good for the country. Best hope in my eyes for a strong two-party system is if the Libertarians/Paulites create a new strong party to replace the current shell corporation. They need votes, though, so that puts the religious loons back up for grabs, being fought over by the shell corp and the Libertarians. Quote:
And I say "when", because I don't see any road for Romney to purchase 270 electoral votes at this time. But anything can happen. |
Re the political forum... sometimes I feel like I've stumbled into the bumpersticker mentality Olympics.
