US Citizenship for sale - $465.00
Here's the trick - Whatever you do, just don't call it "Citizenship"!!!
It gets "those" people that actually earned that right all riled up!!! You just give us 465.00 and you get essentially every single advantage of being a US citizen, legally. Oh, except you can't vote (like that really matters anymore!!) Yeah Obama!!!! http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/...a35f73503f3ce0 |
Your title is an outright exaggerated lie. They do not get citizenship.
They get a work permit, and that's it. They do not get any citizenship rights. They get no preferential treatment . They are risking a lot, as they could be deported. This is a good thing. Actually, it's a great thing. Yes, thank you, President Obama, for doing what Bush wanted to do for so long. Let those young people that served in our military and are good citizens get a work permit to try to get on the path to citizenship. A reminder - Obama has already deported over 800,000 illegal immigrants, more than the entire 8 years of Bush. Illegal immigration is judged way down because of it. Oh - and they pay $465 so American citizens who hate immigrants here through no fault of their own can't bitch and moan and effing whine that "my taxes" are paying for this. They are not. The immigrants are paying for it. Quote:

Reality: they are already here. They are already your neighbor. They are already in school, working. They are already contributing citizens. They are paying local, state taxes, possibly federal. They are not "taking" diddly-shiat- they are contributing, right now. And they are risking everything to come out of the shadows, a shadow they didn't chose nor were responsible for, to be put "into the system". And a good number of them will be deported as not eligible when they come forward. |
"Under guidelines that the administration announced Tuesday, the agency said proof of identity and eligibility under the program could include a passport or birth certificate, school transcripts, medical and financial records and military service records. DHS said that in some instances, multiple sworn affidavits, signed by a third party under penalty of perjury, could also be used."
my son is in the navy....he went to DMV in charleston sc to get a motorcycle permit, as he recently bought a crotch rocket (yay). he had both his current drivers license, as well as his military id, also had his s.s. card. they still demanded other proof, so i had to overnight his birth certificate. for a mc permit. and people from another country who are here without proper paperwork can get a work visa with less i.d. there's something very wrong here. |

Do they get health care too? Or get denied at the E.R.?

And this special program for children brought here as children is precisely because they don't have all that stuff? And you're complaining they don't have the ID to prove they don't have ID? God help this country. |

Obama has removed 1.4 million people during his 42 months in office so far. Fewer than under George W. Bush, whose cumulative total was 2 million. |

Military service should grant citizenship, instantly.
Advanced degree, might as well include them too. Can't have Engineers, Scientists and Doctors (not that anyone will want to become Dr.s anymore) leaving or being kicked out. |

and anyone who is outraged just at the thought that an illegal might be able to stay....ever hear of empathy? it's the ability to put yourself in someone else's shoes mentally. just imagine being brought here as an infant or young child, this being the only home you ever have known. you grow up here, meld here, feel every inch an american. and then you find your parents didn't follow all the proper procedures, and you might get sent to somewhere you know nothing about-the language, the culture, nothing. boy, that sounds great, doesn't it? |

had to keep the union groups satisfied that is he pro-labor in America. |

and like the first linked article said, it's not a path to citizenship. it's just a way to get people to get 'legal', come out of the shadows, get enrolled, and for the govt to most importantly get some $$$. it allows them to weed out the ones they don't want to stay. |

When do 'our' new permitted workers get counted in employment/unemployment figures?
and do we have a number or percentage of those (illegals) that have served in the military? Truth behind hope and change sux! |
Quote:
and i'd imagine that they would be listed in figures once they are actively searching for work, or if they get hired and later get laid off, thus getting unemployment benefits. |

i don't care for them saying they won't issue drivers' licenses. reason being, you can't buy auto insurance if you haven't got a license. doesn't mean they can't buy a car, or drive it. so, how would you feel if you were in a wreck, the other driver is at fault-and they have no insurance?? and they don't have it, because they were kept from getting a license? and they may not be an actual citizen-but why would someone who is working and paying their taxes, and doing everything correctly be rightfully kept from getting a d.l.? i think there should be something in place that would allow them to get something that would allow them to drive legally while here. |
The GOP position..

At what point do we hold the law breakers accountable? The parents knew the risk of deportation and yet they still broke the law by coming here and bringing their children. So now they get a buy to secure more votes when they are just people who have no regard for the law.

and you're right, the parents did wrong. not the kids' fault. |

It's estimated that out of the 1.2 million children and young adults estimated to come forward and register in the deferred deportation system, only 800,000 will be eligible for the 2 year deferment. The rest will be deported as a result of their coming forward. |
I know that illegals don't get to vote but by enacting this new policy it does secure more votes from people who support it

besides, you don't think obama only did this from the goodness of his heart? hell no. maybe get some votes, but far more importantly--$$ to the coffers. it's always, always about the money. also, this way when obama's fellow pols and rich buddies need domestic help...why, there it is. without them ever having to explain hiring someone who might not have been here 100% legally. |
Quote:
PS - the cost of the program is zero - there is no income from it, it merely pays for itself. And it's estimated that 400,000 young people will apply for this 2-year-deportation deferment, but will turn out not eligible under the Obama program, and will end up deported. (estimate 1.2 million apply, 800,000 accepted meeting standards for program inclusion) The DREAM Act was supported by many a Republican, and John McCain - before Obama became president, of course. Then the anti-brown bigots took over the Republican party and hating brown people became all the rage. Literally - rage. |
Quote:
The Republicans in the House blocked any chance of DREAM Act passing. So Obama did an exectuive 2-year-deportation deferment for those that meet strict eligibility, gets these illegals "into the system". Romney won't do that. Yes, you bet my vote goes to Obama, not Romney, for doing something I WANT our Congress/executive branch to do. It polls as a very popular position among American citizens, GOP, Dem and Independent, btw. Politicians should do what we, the citizens, want done. As Obama did here. That's why we elect them. |
