Forget Joe the Plumber — meet Joe the Steelworker

Beyond the Obama ads, Joe Soptic’s steelworker story.

Business as usual some may say...

Quote:

Joe Soptic, 62, has become a go-to figure for supporters of President Obama, appearing this week in his second campaign ad talking about being laid off from a Kansas City, Mo., steel plant that was taken over by Bain Capital in 1993.

On Wednesday, Obama advisers distanced themselves from the former steelworker and the most recent ad, saying they were unaware of the details of Soptic’s account about his wife. “We don’t have any knowledge of the story of the family,” spokeswoman Jen Psaki said on Air Force One.

The third thread on the same subject :tro:

Thepaindispenser 08-09-2012 08:26 PM

What a classless, lying lowlife Obama is which is not surprising since he has resorted to these despicable tactics in every race he has run. Also, when you have zero accomplishments and your policies have produced the worst recovery in 65 years, he has nothing positive to run on. It's the Chicago way.

How great is it that the scumbag Obama tried to lie his way of it and got busted!

The Obama hate and outrage over an ad which is not false, but only shading the timing, is sadly hypocritical, considering the last three ads Romney campaign has put out over the past three weeks (not a superpac), including this mornings release, have been labeled screaming "pants on fire" lies by the media, because of the complete and outright lying about what the President said by Romney campaign

Aggressive lies in campaign ads is exactly what Romney did to his opponents in his primaries this spring, and what he did in his last failed run for President in 2008. And it's the reason why the rest of the Republican party have been on record, publicly, about not being able to stand the guy.

dellinger63 08-09-2012 09:10 PM

did you guys here of the lady who died of cancer that Mitt killed?

No! Do tell! This thread isn't about that story, either are the other two threads that already exist since yesterday about it! :D

The ad is false and while I have not seen the Romney adds, I am pretty sure that I am safe in saying they didn't accuse Obama of being a murderer.

dellinger63 08-09-2012 09:25 PM

Did you guys hear Mitt killed a women? By cancer!

As I said, I tend to agree the ad is over the line, pretty tough, but prove it: what facts in the Obama ad are false? List the words said in the ad, the transcript, and which of those words are lies.

I suggest you go listen to the Romney ads before you defend Romney's outrageous lies.

yeah...it is. and obama making comments about superpacs for romney...but nothing about the ones running ads on his behalf. yeah, pure as the driven snow.

but like the article says, they all do it-cause it works. people say they don't like negative ads, but they wouldn't run them if they didn't produce results.

then again, i was reading earlier today about polling women-should any programs be cut. the answer an overwhelming NO! but then when they ask raise taxes or cut programs, the answer was cut. er...but ya just said don't cut anything! lol

we are so screwed.

dellinger63 08-09-2012 09:36 PM

But he killed this poor women and no one but obama and his superpac care?

dellinger63 08-09-2012 09:37 PM

How many other women did Mitt kill?

I have already answered this question in another thread and I am certain you read it. The Washington Post gave the ad 4 Pinocchio's, its highest rating for falseness and called the ad false. The ad goes below a level of taste never displayed before IMO.

Oh, and Joe Soptic admitted a few hours ago that Bain offered him a buyout, something that he has failed to mention the last two days while giving the impression that he was tossed out on his a$$. Disgusting.

Thepaindispenser 08-09-2012 09:40 PM

The ad is a big lie. Joe Septic (that is not a misspelling, it is a descriptive term) lost his job in 2001, his wife had health insurance through her employer into 2003 when she left her job and she died in 2006. There you have it Riot, it is a patently false ad and your idol Obama tried to lie his way out of it and has yet to denounce it. His is a lowlie gutter rat who appeals to the ignorant and brain-celled challenged people of America. Come on Riot tell us about a Romney ad that comes even close to this.

Thepaindispenser 08-10-2012 03:18 PM

I also forgot to mention that Romney left Bain in 1999 and the company went bankrupt in 2001.

My god. GbBob was right. You are so effing, stupid, you can't see how funny you look in your ignorance.

It just makes it more obvious who you really are, Sockpuppet.

Clip-Clop 08-10-2012 03:32 PM

Mitt Romney made $92 million in profit per company he bankrupted and there were many, yet is only worth a quarter billion. Guy is actually the worst businessman ever and clearly not qualified to be anything, let alone President.

Nobody thinks Mittens is only work a quarter of a billion, based upon the one partial, incomplete year of taxes he released (the returns that show the $100 million IRA, the tax shelters, the Swiss Bank Account). That is what Mittens alleges he is worth. But he won't even show one complete year of income tax returns to prove it.

"Supplemented by a dozen interviews – from local real estate experts to private equity partners – we get a detailed look at the current state of Mitt’s money, pinpointing his net worth at $230 million, split between 9 different asset classes." -From Forbes.

Guy ought to be in prison he is so bad at investing, leaving out all his other crimes. He somehow (according to the Obama campaign) made over $730MM in PROFIT from just 8 deals and is only worth $230MM.

OK

OK

You do realize that Bain was an investment group and all that profit from all deals didn't go only to Mittens?

Perhaps phrasing it that way in the commercials might be honest. Instead of Mitt Romney profited an average of 92 million per deal.

Face it, that team is scum.

You are unable to understand that Bain Capital was an investment firm, and thus the money made from "deals" didn't all go only to Romney?

I do understand that completely.
There are a lot of people out there that are less educated than myself that will be voting. If I say to someone "I made $XXX,000 last year" do they think it means me or my company?
Why say Romney profited? Why not Bain?
Because one people understand and the other is complicated and the uneducated masses that hate "rich white guys" will run to the polls so their companies aren't folded in the constant chasing of cash that is Mitt Romney. The man will kill just to make a buck.

He really should be in prison.

Ah. Yes. The inevitable victimhood of the rich white guy at the hands of the envious "uneducated masses".

You actually do not think that is who the ad panders to? I have given you way too much credit.

You mean like 'palling around with terrorists'? Like, 'I don't know if his birth certificate is real but I take him at his word?'

All ads pander, both sides. Voters chose their level of education regarding campaign issues.

Hillary never should have made that accusation.

Really? Quote where Hillary ever said that in the primaries. Hint: Hillary Clinton never said, "palling around with terrorists".
That was pure Sarah Palin, and McCain had a fit over the obvious racism and hate, and told Palin to cut it out.

Read a newspaper or something.

Quote:

Palin says Obama 'palling around' with terrorists
JIM KUHNHENN | October 4, 2008 11:38 PM EST | AP
CARSON, Calif., — Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin on Saturday accused Democrat Barack Obama of "palling around with terrorists" because of an association with a former '60s radical, a harsh attack on his character that she repeated at three separate campaign events without substantiation.

Palin's reference was to Bill Ayers, one of the founders of the group the Weather Underground. Its members were blamed for several bombings, including a pipe bomb in San Francisco that killed a police officer and injured another. Obama, who was a child when the group was active, has denounced Ayers' radical views and activities.

Thepaindispenser 08-10-2012 09:30 PM

Was that supposed to be a comeback Riot?

Romney should run ads with all the death and despair that Obama's job killing policies have caused although there wouldn't be enough air time to include all the sad individual victims of Obama's destructive policies.

dellinger63 08-10-2012 09:50 PM

"Obama killed 49 last month in Chicago and will trying to beat that this month."

Retraction: Obama's supporters killed 49 and what's sad the people going to jail overwhelmingly still support him as well as the family's of those that were killed by those going to jail. :zz:

As some white red-neck comedian said, 'You can't teach stupid'.

Thepaindispenser 08-11-2012 11:05 AM

By the way Septic's wife had health insurance when she died.
