Romans runners don't miss many dances..

As opposed to some other big outfits where horses seem to disappear, you don't have to worry or wonder when or if Dale Romans' runners will make their next start. Unbelievable... From Bris:

Dullahan: Haskell July 29. Secretariat August 18 if no good on dirt again.

Shackleford: Whitney H. August 4.

Afleeting Lady: Molly Pitcher July 29.

Little Mike: Saturday's G1 Shoemaker Mile at Hollywood.

Tapitsfly: Diana July 28.

Guys Reward: Firecracker June 30.

Roman's Avenue: Bashford Manor June 30.

Silver Max: American Derby July 14 or Virginia Derby July 21 (Leaning toward Arlington).

Cozzetti & Finnegan's Wake: Virginia Derby July 21.

Sassy Image: TBA. Worked Saturday.

O'Prado Again: Starts back shortly from shin.

pmayjr 06-24-2012 08:34 AM

I want Silver Max to keep winning. If he does, eventhough he wouldn't come within 10 lengths of Frankel, Romans will run his mouth about how he's got the best turf miler on the planet. Combo that smack-talk with some extra money from the BC people to get him over here and hopefully it at least gets Cecil thinking about it

You're stoned....right?

hockey2315 06-24-2012 10:18 AM

I think you're missing a '0', pmayjr.

The spotting of Dullahan is really puzzling. . .

NTamm1215 06-24-2012 10:21 AM

You have to wonder why Romans is interested in having Dullahan chase Bodemeister around Monmouth. Matz is also going to send Union Rags, apparently, so Monmouth must be tossing the appearance fees around like crazy.

A man can at least dream of it happening, right? It's just when I get stoned the dreams get a little more vivid ;)

But what have I said that doesn't have at least a minor chance of happening? The part about Romans talking up his horse? You know that's true.

The part about the BC throwing extra $ in a race that Frankel and/or Black Caviar enters in? I hope they at least make an attempt. Would it work? Probably not. But I hope they at least try.

Would Baffert/Zayat couple Bodemeister and Paynter?

Dahoss 06-24-2012 11:17 AM

I'm going to go get stoned and come back and read this thread.

No. Paynter will likely go to the Jim Dandy.

How'd it work out for you?

DT can be a very amusing place if you come here in the right frame of mind.

Agree with you 100% IC. Somedays after another defeat and a mounting loosing streak i come on this site for a few laughs. sometimes it's more amusing than Comedy Central!

pmayjr 06-24-2012 11:52 AM

Pardon my delusional optimism folks. Haters gonna hate

i'm figuring this will decide dullahans future-personally i'd have returned him to turf, or awt, after the belmont...perhaps the owner wants one more try on the main?

no, they plan to keep them apart for now.

as for the bc paying fees, i doubt that'll happen. and being realistic doesn't = hate.

Good grief. So this is what American racing has become. If I'm supposed to get excited about Shackleford then I guess I might as well start watching NBC 24/7. Might as well get used to mediocrity presented at greatness.

I like Romans, but it's a little funny that he's being lauded for running his horses often and the best horse in his barn is getting 60+ days off (and skipping a G2 handicap race) in the middle of the year.

Coach Pants 06-24-2012 02:28 PM

I like him too but I'm not going to kid myself and say Shackleford is a true Classic horse. He's an o.k. horse in one of the worst older divisions in the history of the sport.

...after running in the Met, CD H. & Carter between April 7-May 28. The Suburban is so imperative to his having a complete year? The Whitney and 1 other before BC would be a 7 race season and the Whitney and 2 others, 8.

Coach Pants 06-24-2012 03:17 PM

I don't think we should give trainers a pass for running horses 8 times in a year. Big deal. So you're more sportsman than the idiots who run their horses 3-5 times a year. Someone give Romans a medal...or better yet a Doritos Locos 10 pack.

By current standards it's tough to take issue with Shackleford. However, this is a horse he has always said thrives on training and racing. I thought nearly six weeks would have been more than enough to have him run in the Suburban. I don't really think having 8 races in a year should be considered terribly taxing for such a horse.

Taco Bell is the holy grail for food when you're drunk or stoned.

Truth be told, I could sh!t into a tortilla and it would taste better than Taco Bell.

However, those prices on that menu make me feel like I'm Ogden Phipps and that grub has the right amount of greasy mystery beef, cheese, and fire sauce to make Taco Bell a wonderful franchise when you're not sober.

Chipolte had to come around and ruin a good thing with their high prices and wildly superior grub.

There's a really good authentic Mexican food restaurant that I go to with my girlfriend at least once a week. They have these things called 'Tejana Margaritas' that are souped up with extra Tequila. Great stuff. Always leave that place stumbling around and coolly buzzed for a good hour or more.

Speaking of Taco Bell, does anyone from the Cincinnati area remember a quick-service Mexican chain in the 80's called Zantigo's? Was excellent.

I'm going to regret this, but, what makes this place in Erie authentic? They serve salsa not made in New York City?

If you're ever in Chicago, this is by far our favorite 1,2 punch in the city.

Cheap good Mexican food at Arturo's then walk across the street to Margie's for dessert, very old school and awesome sundae shop.

Does that combo come with a free roll of Charmin?

Zantigo's was excellent. Even though Taco Bell bought them out and closed them down in the early nineties, the franchise was revitalized and there are a handful of Zantigo's currently open in the twin cities. Not sure about the rest of the country. Nearly identical menu from the past, too.

I know I'd be a drunk(more of a drunk?) if I was a midget.

Do people think before making posts like this?

The worse answer would be yes.

I don't think Andy has been to any of the chan sites. Otherwise that post wouldn't exist.

This place is MENSA level compared to most forums.

A Paytner Vs. Bodeimester match race sounds good. At least it will gaurantee a win for Zayat.

Exceller73 06-26-2012 12:04 PM

Paynter is not even in the same league as Bodemeister right now.
