I am starting to get nervous

That sick feeling in my gut waiting for a verdict in the Sandusky trial. Should've taken no more than 20 minutes to convict and now they are in their second day. If he walks it would be a disgrace.

How many charges, 50-60?...takes time to weed thru all of them...should rubber stamp all guilty but that should take a few days...He'll never see daylight anyway...cryin out loud, even a step son said he did it...

Unfortunately his step son wasn't on the stand.

i do agree with bigrun that the reason it is taking so long is because there are SO many charges to give verdicts on.

I really dont think there is anyway he walks on these charges. But after Casey Anthony, I guess really anything can happen.

Danzig 06-22-2012 02:58 PM

i have no doubt that the jury is just being thorough. long times and short times don't necessarily mean a thing. i've seen super quick verdicts that everyone expected meant would go one way, and it went the other. you certainly don't want to give anyone reason to question, or have grounds for appeals.
and it is possible that some charges could go one way, and others another. or hell, maybe one of the jurors isn't in a hurry to get home...maybe the spouse is a shrew!

I haven't been following the trial, but how did the prosecution not play this card?

seems like it was recently brought to the prosecutors attention...from what i read, it's why the defense so abruptly said they were done, and didn't call sandusky to the stand.

but hey, he's not included-but new charges can be brought based on his case. i wondered if he was the one whose ex-wife had tried to keep the kids from visiting their far less than grand father. they are. and now we know why.

apparantly it was not known to the prosecution until a few days ago. Also since the son had previously denied denied and denied that he had been molested, he would have been an easy target for the defense if he testified (according to what I read). Personally I think if you hear it from the mans own kid, then it would eliminate any doubt.

But they've already heard graphic testimony from many victims, plus witnesses. I really hope the defense strategy of "those kids lied and want money" doesnt give the jurors any doubt.

Danzig 06-22-2012 03:16 PM

i do know that the jurors asked to review a couple hours of testimony, which they were supposed to do today. i wonder if they will continue to deliberate thru the weekend? or maybe they'll wrap it up this afternoon....guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Thank goodness. That evil predator will be locked up forever from now on.

Danzig 06-22-2012 10:34 PM

so glad about the result. hopefully it will give some measure of comfort to his victims, who sadly will deal with the horrors for the rest of their lives.

bigrun 06-22-2012 10:58 PM

I wish that I felt differently but for the first time in 50 some years, I won't be following PSU football this year. Not because of that monster Sandusky, there are monsters everywhere...but because of their treatment of JoPa.

Lots of hate and accusations...easy to be morally superior even when your post smacks of unsubstantiated dribble. To quote John Cena, "rise above the hate!"

Coach Pants 06-23-2012 12:31 PM

Rise above the hate? That's cute.

How about that f.ucking narcissist Paterno rising above his self interests and putting an end to the massive raping his staff member was putting on innocent children?

Riot 06-23-2012 01:08 PM

So today they are mentioning possibly more charges against Sandusky?

bigrun 06-23-2012 02:30 PM

There are plenty of good times to "rise above the hate."

Children getting raped?

Not one of them.

Shorter somer: "Abortion is a really bad thing. Abetting guys who rape real, live children? C'mon, stop with the hate, guys!!!"

Whatever.

if only he'd done himself in years ago when he couldn't fight his inner demons, would have kept a lot of others from having to wrestle with what he did to them.

Your picture shows are hilarious. It makes it seem most often like you just learned that there's an images option when you Google something.

You chose to post a picture of a black man when mocking what may happen to Jerry Sandusky in prison. Then, when asked about why it had to be a black guy, fulfilling an ignorant stereotype, you blamed Google. That's ignorant.

LuckyJoyce 06-25-2012 03:29 PM

Actually, this is the prison roommate you don't want to have:

And when I Google the word "prison inmate" I see photos like this:

Prisons are filled with a variety of people, all colors really... or so I've heard.

Danzig 06-25-2012 03:43 PM

actually, the original inmate photo just had me wondering if he was a known buggerer...i didn't think about the color of his skin. the one above, scary. i wonder if jolene was able to get a refund.

Thought many are...at least as shown in the movies...

More black men are in prison than enslaved during 1850.

ColorLines' Thoai Lu is reporting that the U.S. Bureau of Justice Statistics estimates that as of 2008, there were more than 846,000 black men in prison, making up 40.2 percent of all inmates in the system

Alexander argues that prisons have become the latest form of economic and social disenfranchisement for young people of color, particularly black men. In it, she grapples with a central question: If crime rates have fluctuated over the years and are now at historical lows, then why have rates of incarcerated men of color skyrocketed over the past 30 years?

http://www.theroot.com/buzz/more-bla...-enslaved-1850

Coach Pants 06-25-2012 04:45 PM

Yeah I don't adhere to political correctness when we live in a society where the private prison corporations are the ones who are the real racists.

When I see the feigned outrage brigade go after those folks then I might have some f.ucks given about them being offended when someone makes an offensive post on an online forum.

Reality is almost 40% of inmates are black.

Real racists aren't on online forums posting stupid pictures. They're in Washington lining the pockets of your representatives and igniting racism with propaganda that the paid media whores present to you...the sheeple.

yes, except for the fact that he was helping a molestor get away with abusing young boys for years he really was such a great guy.

According to Curley's email, Paterno participated more than he ever admitted, including likely talking Curley – and thus the others – out of the plan to turn Sandusky over to authorities.Take a second for that one to sink in.

i thought after you told me that my family should die in a house fire i would be done with you. but like herpes you keep coming back.

"I am supportive," Spanier wrote, according to CNN. "The only downside for us [is] if the message isn't heard and acted upon, and then we become vulnerable for not having reported it."

Graham Spanier is a bad person. That wasn't the "only downside" or even the primary downside of Sandusky not hearing "the message."

The fact that additional children would be abused was the downside. Spanier, ever the self-obsessed top administrator, cared only about his own liability, not some terrified 10-year-old in an empty shower room. At no point, apparently, did anyone write an email about finding the boy McQueary said was being molested.

the only downside........good lord.
