What Would He Bring?

If the Moss's put Bernardini and Quennies's baby into a yearling sale. Assuming he's correct.

What would he bring?

Be schocked if it was less than The Green Monkey who weighed in at a cool $16,000,000. OOOF.

I put the reserve at $25,000,000. Insane?

Seattleallstar 03-30-2012 01:23 AM

Gone are those days now I'm afraid. Its a big deal now if a horse goes for a cool million.

It would be a longshot if he exceeded the sales topper for the last 5 years.
I can't believe you're serious.

I am serious. I also freely admit I know very little about these kind of things. That's why I used The Green Monkey as an example.

I would think that any knowledgeable buyer would be wary of paying too much for the hype.
The bottom line is that a talented mare doesn't guarantee talented babies.

What about Dad? Bernardini was pretty darn good and already has some very successful offspring. No?

Dic:

Bloodstock agents around the world will be relieved to know that you will not be able to steal their jobs too because you clearly know nothing about how to value a horse.

Wait a second weren't you a bloodstock agent? Remember when Garcia stiffed that horse and then you tried to make a deal for the horse? Shouldn't you be a quasi expert?

completely!!!!

It all depends what the horse's legs look like.

NTamm1215 03-30-2012 08:54 AM

I know his name could potentially be Beatenbybetteratchurchill. Or maybe that's too long...

Danzig 03-30-2012 09:11 AM

he'd be an RNA, regardless of the highest bid.

Linny 03-30-2012 09:35 AM

As a yearling (TGM was a 2yo when he sold and his "price" is disputed) a Bernardini/Z colt (if very correct) would probably bring a couple of million, especially since Sheik Mo bids on the Bernardinis.

Ntamm, how 'bout BeatnbybetratCD? Or, Who's to Blame? Or GostofInvsrnBlame?

Calzone Lord 03-30-2012 09:53 AM

Bernardini had 67 yearlings offered at public auction last year. None sold for higher than $1.2 million.

Two years ago, his highest priced yearling was $800K.

He gets bred to a whole lot of good race mares and producers.

Zenyatta was only a $60,000 yearling herself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MP8VFLO25Q4

You know a few buyers would reach badly for her 1st offspring at auction and it only takes two. Even with that said -- if 70 Bernardini's are offered as yearlings that year -- this one would probably have to have a consensus top 5 look to get past $3 million.

The Green Monkey has nothing to do with any yearling. He was about a 500K or so purchase as a yearling and he had relatively unremarkable breeding.

Bernardini ran a lot of extremely fast numbers for a 3-year-old.

I may be a contrarian here, but I think Vic is right.

If that horse goes to sale, all of her legions of mind numbed fans would each pitch in $100 or so and form the largest syndicate ever.

They would then retire the horse and teach it to dance.

Then they could recoup their money by allowing photos taken with it.

Smoothie might even shoot a video of himself racing his Porsche against the horse.

That's great for him. The closest I ever got to winning a stake as an owner was 2nd in the Humbolt County Marathon a few years back at Ferndale.

From the way you've posted so far seems like a job might not be in your future.

Probably safe.
