Hope, Change & Tyranny - Buh Bye, Bill of Rights

>>>One of the most extraordinary documents in human history -- the Bill of Rights -- has come to an end under President Barack Obama. Derived from sacred principles of natural law, the Bill of Rights has come to a sudden and catastrophic end with the President's signing of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), a law that grants the U.S. military the "legal" right to conduct secret kidnappings of U.S. citizens, followed by indefinite detention, interrogation, torture and even murder. This is all conducted completely outside the protection of law, with no jury, no trial, no legal representation and not even any requirement that the government produce evidence against the accused. It is a system of outright government tyranny against the American people, and it effectively nullifies the Bill of Rights.

In what will be remembered as the most traitorous executive signing ever committed against the American people, President Obama signed the bill on New Year's Eve, a time when most Americans were engaged in the consumption of alcohol. It seems appropriate, of course, since no intelligent American could accept the tyranny of this bill if they were sober.<<<

Give the guy a break. He had serious reservations before signing the legislation into law.

Tell me, what was the purpose of the NDAA if the Patriot Act purportedly allows the Gov't to enter your home and remove whom ever they want, hold them indefinitely, without any form of due process?

Oh....That's right, it doesn't.

I guess you've got the reading comprehension skills of a typical Obama-ite as well.

Obama, running a campaign for president, promised to revisit and repeal the most civil-liberty intrusive portions of the Patriot Act. He not only broke that promise, but signed a 4 year renewal that reinforced every key element of it.

http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-me...ersight-on-go/

And for good measure, now signed a bill into law that dismisses the 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th amendments to the Constitution.

Might be a good idea to understand what you're quoting before you blindly support a position - but then again, it's hard to expect that much from folks that would rather blame others for the actions of their incumbent.

Cliff Notes version for the tl;dr crowd - the Patriot Act authorizes the surveillance of suspected enemy combatants on US soil; the NDAA wipes it's ass with the constitution, and flushes it to Cuba.

And G. Bush had nothing to do with it - this is all on Obama.

Pretty amazing that anyone could blame this on G. Bush

Speaking of reading comprehension skills, there have already been two threads on this subject.

But I'm glad, after months of this subject being in the news as Congress added more and more of this crap to the regular defense bill, and as the administration sent back the bill time and time again to have the added stuff taken out, and the blogosphere exploded with concerns about this stuff, that you've finally noticed.

Rudeboyelvis 01-05-2012 01:12 PM

That's hilarious - you weren't even in the discussion - good going. This is the second thread actually, (check your comprehension) one dealt with the Senate bill 1867, and this now deals with his new law. two different subjects - thus two different threads started by me. So obviously I've not only "noticed" this for quite some time, but choose to see the facts without blinders, like some. But don't let that stop you from lashing out at anyone who would bring the topic to the surface - that's pure comedy.

I don't spend every waking hour responding to you, while you hold your 24 hour - 7 day a week vigil on here to defend every single bowel movement the guy makes - right, wrong, or indifferent. So if that's how you define awareness, your perception is off.

Tell me - How in the world can you possibly defend his actions with regard to this?

The reality is that it is an indefensible position - one that might be expected from a far-right fascist, but nauseatingly hypocritical from a guy who ran as a "champion of the people".

So this is the legislature's fault? The devil made him do it? Wow.

Sigh.

If only you "anti-Obama-ites" had a foot grounded in reality, and didn't just make angry crap up whole cloth out of thin air, about what you guess to be the other person's position or thoughts or viewpoint.

I'm really not into debating your guys imaginary boogeymen and leaps of assumption, or defending myself from your vividly false imagination.

Sigh.

Rudeboyelvis... don't you know that Riot knows everything about everything? and that Obama is the greatest president ever? He can do no wrong.

The evil republicans FORCED Obama to sign a law that violates the constitution. Its the SENATE's fault.. lead by those filthy GOP... oh wait, the Senate has a Dem majority. It has to be the House's fault. Obama is perfect just like Riot.

Sigh.

Too bad that's not my point of view. Either are any of Rude's assumptions. And I'm not referring to the two threads that Rude started.

We need to fund more public education. Reading. Then maybe the presumptively angry wouldn't sound so obnoxiously stupid screaming at me for positions I don't hold. You guys are entertaining, to a point. Then you're just ... obnoxious.

If the Clinton blowjob was never exposed, Gore sweeps into the White House. Rules for 8 years, no Iraq war...In and out of Afgan in year with bin laden's head on a stick...Obama remains an obscure politician...McCain elected in 2008 (w/o Palin)...everyone happy in 2012.....till the world ends in Dec....

Fair enough, you will never get an argument from me, I don't defend the Right and especially will never defend Bush and his cabinet...

It is funny though... I recall the uproar, hue and cry from the Left - when GWB detained enemy combatants from Iraq and Afghanistan at Gitmo.... Now that same Left is as quiet as a church mouse when he signs, with his own hand, a law that allows him to do the same to American citizens? You know, the Gitmo he promised to shut down?

Partisanship to the nth degree.

Ummmm...Last I checked, you injected yourself into the discussion; I was responding to bigrun - and no one asked you or cares what your position is. I only asked how you can defend your president's decision to sigh this bill into law.

It seems pretty simple - it's either "I like him as a president, but cannot defend this action by him" or "I agree with him, he wanted his spending bill pushed through so badly, that he was willing to fore go all of our civil liberties to do so, and that's cool with me"

You're the one that engaged in this maniacal diatribe about how everyone is somehow attacking you and assuming what your position is.

Trust us - we don't care.

Well, you could get rid of the hyperbole.

But I still doubt you'd bother to notice that although I have defended Obama for what he got taken out of this bill by sending it back multiple times (there were 495 elected Congresspeople people that worked on it, and put that crappy stuff in there, before it got to his desk, after all); I've never said I've supported his signing it, or some of the changes he made to it. I've said the opposite. Long before you started this thread.

Don't let reality intrude when you're in the middle of a good, angry, assumptive, anti-Obama supporter rant, though. It might make you look ... thoughtful. That's right! It's all my fault you are angry! Even though I don't hold the views you or Anti assumed I hold and threw my way.

Yeah ... I'm not being the maniacal one. Carry on with the Obama Derangement Syndrome.

Bad laws are the worst sort of tyranny.

The people never give up their liberties but under some delusion.

Whenever a separation is made between liberty and justice, neither, in my opinion, is safe.

Those who have been once intoxicated with power, and have derived any kind of emolument from it, even though but for one year, never can willingly abandon it. They may be distressed in the midst of all their power; but they will never look to any thing but power for their relief.

All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.

all of the above from edmund burke. yeah, obama snuck this all in on a friday preceding a holiday. might take some time to sink in....but it will sink in. surely this law won't stand.
