For getting really interesting fields, the Clark never disappoints.

Dahoss 11-22-2011 01:09 PM

I'm not sure if he is good enough to beat this field, but Pleasant Prince ran a pretty big race in the BC Marathon I thought.

He beat Rail Trip in his start right before the Marathon. What sort of rating did that race receive?

He got a 99 beyer beating Rail Trip. His career top is a 100 in last years Oklahoma Derby. He is not very consistent, he throws in clunkers at short prices. I dont like him at all in this spot.

Looking at the lineup, none of them seem to like to win on a consistent basis aside from 3yo Prayer For Relief and the versatile Wise Dan. Not sure if the latter is at his best going 9f.

I am with you PG...Hoss is a clueless nut job you have to wonder why he is allowed to post..Who are you betting Zenyatta? sorry track might be sealed you dont race a 1800lb filly off the bench on a sealed track or was that the Foster or was that 2000and ? whatever

Beyerwise he got a 99 that day. If Flat Out shows up with his best they are all probably running for 2nd. But he did very little running in the Classic and it's hard to ignore that he hasn't run well at Churchill in his 3 starts there.

I'm probably reaching, but who is so unbeatable in here that he doesn't have a shot?

Im against Flat Out also. For me its Wise Dan and Baffert as of now. I do have some more work to do on the race. Im also against Ruler On Ice.

What kind of price will Demarcation be?

my miss storm cat 11-22-2011 05:50 PM

Fun field.

Mister Marti Gras for me.

Good luck to Dubious Miss in the one before...

I usally bet against horses who ran in the BC and run back prior to the years end but Giant Oak won the Clark after coming 4th in the BC Marathon last year. PP ran a big race despite a questionable ride by Rosario.

I bet him last time, so he'll probably win in a photo over whoever I bet this time.

I agree with you, if Flat Out runs his race, he wins no problem. If he doesn't fire, I think it's wide open. The more I look at this race, the more I like Demarcation.

He should be 100:1.

Will's Wildcat is 30-1 but he is 3 for 3 at CD, 3 for 3 with Borel. His 3 races won at CD were for a combined 14 lengths and his beyers at CD are 95, 98 and 97. Everywhere else he doesnt show anything like that. Tough field to beat but I will include in Pick 4, Pick 3

I would use him over the 2 horses mentioned earlier in this thread. The race is wide open.

I can't imagine he'll go this far - especially against this group. I thought Mister Marti Gras was a little bit interesting.

dino 11-25-2011 05:30 AM

I"m looking at Mister Marti Gras. He closed like a rocket on a speed favoring track last time out.

The track wasn't speed favoring last time.

This is such a wide open race it's hard to really dismiss anyone with any confidence (except for Prayer For Relief, he sucks) and the horse does obviously love Churchill. But his only win two turns came against a terrible field and he hasn't really shown that two turns is what he wants. Seems like a tall order to me.

PatCummings 11-25-2011 12:45 PM

I'm using Headache and just hoping he runs a big one. Drosselmeyer lost a bunch of ground on the second turn, and Headache lost a ton of it on both turns, and was much closer to the pace than he should've been, and was still beaten only 7 lengths. Off the Trakus data, he covered about 5 lengths more than Drosselmeyer. A better ride, and some ground saving, could move him back to some of his better performances, one of which came here.

The track was even but the fractions were 25, 51, 115, 139. Tough to close into those fractions in any race let alone a stakes race. I misspoke by saying speed favoring.

Hopefully I will get all of 12-1 on him because he's not a high profile horse.

King Glorious 11-25-2011 01:46 PM

Going with Prayer for Relief for the win over Mission Impazible and Will's Wildcat. Might work a play to include Alma d'Oro and Stately Victor.
