11.11.11 Happy Vets Day.
Many gave some and some gave all..
War makes strange giant creatures out of the little routine men who inhabit the Earth. --WWII correspondent Ernie Pyle. Some veterans bear visible signs of their service: a missing limb, a jagged scar, a look in the eye. Others may carry the evidence inside them: a pin holding a bone together, a piece of shrapnel in the leg -- or perhaps another sort of inner steel: the soul's alloy forged in the refinery of adversity. Except in parades, however, the men and women who have kept America safe wear no badge or emblem. You can't tell a vet just by looking. What is a vet? He is the cop on the beat who spent six months in Saudi Arabia sweating two gallons a day making sure the armored personnel carriers didn't run out of fuel. He is the Nebraska farmer who worries every year that this time the bank really will foreclose. He is the barroom loudmouth, dumber than five wooden planks, whose overgrown frat-boy behavior is outweighed a hundred times in the cosmic scales by four hours of exquisite bravery near the 39th Parallel. She -- or he -- is the nurse who fought against futility and went to sleep sobbing every night for two solid years in Da Nang. He is the POW who went away one person and came back another -- or didn't come back at all. He is the Quantico drill instructor who never has seen combat -- but who has saved countless lives by turning slouchy no-'counts into soldiers, and teaching them to watch each others' backs. He is the parade-riding legionnaire who pins on his ribbons and medals with a prosthetic hand. He is the career quartermaster who watches the ribbons and medals pass him by. He is the anonymous hero in the Tomb of the Unknowns, whose presence at Arlington National Cemetery must forever preserve the memory of all the other anonymous heroes whose valor died unrecognized with them on the battlefield or in the ocean's sunless deep. He is the old guy bagging groceries at the supermarket -- palsied now and aggravatingly slow -- who helped liberate a Nazi death camp, and who wishes all day long his wife were still alive to hold him when the nightmares come. He is an ordinary and yet an extraordinary human being -- a person who offered some of his life's most vital years in the service of his country, and who sacrificed his ambitions so others would not have to sacrifice theirs. He is a soldier and a savior and a sword against the darkness, and he is nothing more than the finest, greatest testimony on behalf of the finest, greatest nation ever known. --This editorial first was published in 1995 and has appeared annually since 1999. __________________ It is the VETERAN , not the preacher, who has given us freedom of religion. Thank you to all the vets, to their families and loved ones, to those who never returned.
You have our eternal love and gratitude. |
I understand why most serve. To feed their family, basic survival, no other real option.
I don't, however, support the tards and foreigners who are serving in our armed services. They will be the ones we'll be fighting when these cocksuc.kers implode everything. I support these vets...the ones who are awake. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yP8q7fc7TR4 |
just got back to my office from the veterans day ceremonies at the courthouse. five brothers were honored-the flag that will fly from today til memorial day for them. others as well, of course, but they celebrate a named vet on those two holidays.
four of the brothers served in ww 2, the fifth in the korean war. only 2 of the five still alive. also mentioned was the ashley county girl killed last week in afganistan along with a fellow national guard member-she was 19, both died from an ied. |
Randy Sterling beats up on girly's and Poach Cant's decides which veterans and active duty guys are good or are filth.
I don't think either was in the Army, etc. BigBeast,Gooey,Rita..oh I guess you too,Danny--------extraordinary work. I,too, say to all those guys and those girls ....thank you all so very, very much.Especially to those who were in the heat of war zones.Those..we can never thank enough for doing and experiencing what we could never imagine. |
Oh the emasculated tosspot is getting confidence back after the last shame spiral.
Hooray. It's like Police Academy 6 but worse. |
You might want to take a closer look at your evidence of insanity these past few months.
Do you have a little square mustache? |
Yeah don't be skeptical. Don't raise your voice. Just obey. That's typical of someone who would whither and die without that direct deposit on the first or fifteenth..
You're the nazi, f.uckface. You accept evil for what...$1000 a month and processed food. God bless America, tard. |
Thank you for the corroboration.
|
It's novel how you're calling me a Nazi yet defending job security for not reporting little boys being f.ucked up the a.ss.
Again who is the Nazi? |
Oh, one more thing.....thank you for your service.

Yes..words are easy. It's a message board where everyone does the right thing. You defend nothing----all you done is bone up on Alex Jones buzz words and vomit them back up here. But again, thank you for your brave message board valor. |
You're just spineless and sanctimonious. A fine representation of present day Americans.
Go watch your wrestling and count that silver for the strange ***** over 1000 miles away vacay fund. |

Would you like that, quitter? I mean you can f.uckin type and travel to Texas...why are you drawing a check? Stop taking money from future generations, you selfish waste of life. Your life is over. Let another idiot savant Browns fan take your place. |

Thank you... |
If he was sorry he wouldn't have said anything to begin with. Don't be fooled...he loves online conflict. He couldn't care less about veterans or your experiences.

You from there? |
an email went out to thank the veterans in my office this morning. 74 people employed here and 2 veterans.
as a society we like the idea of service. other peoples service. it's why we find it so easy to commit to wars of choice lately. it doesn't actually cost us anything directly. outside of whatever the stupid "support our troops" ribbon on the back of the car cost. we've turned into a society that employs a small warrior class to fight for us. i don't agree with coach often but i do think the lack of any real committment by significant portions of this country to the idea of service will bite us in the long run. no one had to fight who didn't want to. and if anyone tried to raise taxes to cover the cost of two wars, they'd be voted out. that's america. |

No, 20 miles east in Western PA....Usta spend lot's of time in Y-town back in the day when they served 18 yo's...and our tracks of choice were Wat (Mnr) and Cleve tracks, Thistle, Randall, Ascot and Nthfld....no simulcasting in those days.... |
Great post,Hi.
Thank you for your brain give away donation. |
I guess the malcontents will Occupy Anything.
But it is a free country. Just too bad the soldiers from all wars can't have a clean thank you thread. The truth is they probably would yell at me and tell me..."that's what we fought for---freedom." Let's just not try to separate the past fighters from the present...just not right. |

Not a veteran but want to thank everyone that is..... I would like to volunteer some time doing something this is Veteran related. Anyone have any suggestions?
We live in a country where we have Veterans living on the streets while we have scumbags that have never worked an honest day in their lives sucking evey dime out of us hard workers that they posibly can. Anyone see anything wrong with that? |
