Peyton Manning

I've never seen a football team where losing a single player has made such a huge difference.

That team had won 7 of the last 9 division titles ... and without Peyton Manning -- they look like a 2-14 team. Freaking Cleveland pissed on them in their dome opener -- and the Texans had them down 34-0 at the half.

The Pats at least went 11-5 without Brady for an entire season. It will take a miracle for this team to get to 5-11.

clyde 09-19-2011 10:41 PM

They need Sham....he's also 0-2.

2MinsToPost 09-19-2011 11:20 PM

He runs the offense. Lost a couple key coaches as well. Did you know Peyton went overseas to have stem cell work done? Wow.

I think you are forgetting that they had Matt Cassel and he was a more than adequate replacement.

Colts have a retired old guy, and a Chad Painter who is more equipped to hold a clipboard than run an offense

Calzone Lord 09-20-2011 12:23 AM

Matt Cassell couldn't get on the field in college and had no prior NFL expierence. He sucks dick.

rpncaine 09-20-2011 06:08 AM

I'll be pissed if they do win 5 games. They need to draft high enough to get a decent collage QB. Luck would be nice. The un-official slogan for this season is "Suck for Luck".

You do know that he was a top 5 QB last season?

slotdirt 09-20-2011 08:58 AM

I'm not sure how bad Matt Cassel is, but based on the first half of Sunday's tilt versus the Lions, Todd Haley and his staff have absolutely zero confidence in him whatsoever.

I appreciate you not quoting him in your response.

Not to take anything away from Brady who is great. But that is the ultimate system in place in NE. Anytime someone gets hurt the Pats are able to just plug someone else in and they barely skip a beat. It's really impressive actually.

3kings 09-20-2011 09:41 AM

The Colts are built to play with the lead on defense. They are small and fast to get after the passer and create turnovers once they get the lead. Their offensive line is built to pass block and get rid of the ball quickly. They havent been able to consistently run the ball in a few years When they haven't gotten the lead in the past they were always in trouble. They are in for a very long year, once they are 2-6 I doubt you will see Payton till next year.

I see him ranked 16th in 2010 -- one spot ahead of Eli Manning (in his INT tour de force year) and Shuan Hill.

MaTH716 09-20-2011 12:48 PM

Very Very Very, unofficial DT rankings. (According to one portly ex-poster)

Quote:

Its actually pretty simple.
1. Brady
2. Vick
3. Rivers
4. Brees
5. Cassel

I still get his wisdom from other places.

He stopped the Raiders last week ....

Lol

Sadly I miss the entertainment part of his picks and football opinions.

I don't know which is worse, Vick at #2 or Cassel at #5.

Plenty of comedy gold in most of last years football threads.

The Colts are double digit dogs at home in a Sunday Night game

Yeah, but at least they are playing a real team. Last week had to be rock bottom, being 2 point home dogs against the Browns.

Calzone Lord 10-23-2011 10:21 PM

This team is seriously bad.

62-7?

Danzig 10-24-2011 05:47 AM

i couldn't believe the score when i woke up this morning. obviously far more wrong with the team than just manning. he doesn't play on defense-or is the team just gutted at this point??

herkhorse 10-24-2011 06:13 AM

Colts are on the suck for Luck plan

ftfy

MaTH716 10-24-2011 08:28 AM

The interesting thing is, what do the Colts do if they end up with the pick?

3kings 10-24-2011 08:39 AM

Take Luck and let him sit a couple of years like Rodgers. Or trade it. If Palmer is worth a 1and 2, Luck should be worth more than that.

I would trade the pick. Obviously they have other problems right now that need to be addressed. Manning will solve the QB problem, get some picks and sure up the rest of the team. As opposed to taking Luck and letting him sit on the bench, getting #1 pick money for God knows how many years.

Now that I think about it, maybe they have to sit down with Peyton and see what his long term plans are, before they put everything in motion.

Do exactly that. Ensures the future QB status of your franchise for the next 10 years.

Seriously how many years does Manning have at the level he is at even if he is still at that level. A neck injury is serious ****. If he has any reoccurence I would not be suprised to see him shut it down for good.

The thing about Manning is, the protection around him is so good that he never seems to get hit. So neck issue aside, I could see him playing at a high level for another 5 years.

Now this season, do they just suck? Or is it a product of not having Manning? That's the question management is going to have to figure out so they know which direction to go in.

Losing quickly becomes the expectation and the Colts expect to lose. Manning was their offense and more than that he was their absolute leader, the most valuable player to his team in the NFL by far. His presence hid a lot of flaws that are now exposed..sorta like the Dolphins with Marino.

I think if its the Colts or Rams you have to trade the pick.

Coach Pants 10-24-2011 01:38 PM

The Dolphins are a mortal lock for Luck. Peyton is fine. That team has been horrible for two years.

I can see the Rams trading, but why the Colts? Because you think Manning is the future of the Colts? He will be 36 years old when he plays again. How many more years do you think he has left to play at the level he is accustomed to? How many shots do you think he is willing to take before he just walks away?

If the Colts have the pick, they need to take Luck.

I think it will be a huge slap in the face to a guy who has said he wants to play into his 40's. He will take it as them not wanting to improve the team right now. On ESPN just today they said they will consult with Peyton about if they should resign Reggie Wayne or not. If thats the case, Peyton must be in the near future plans, right? BTW if It was me I would take Luck, Im just going on what I think those teams will do.

Sorry Joe, no way that convo took place. Unless their plan is to throw the season and take Luck with the #1 because they plan on promoting Manning to GM net year.

Personally I think he was done last year, their running game has been atrocious since Addai fell off, and the rest of the team is old. Say what you will, but I seriously doubt the score would have been much different with Manning behind center.

I have never been a fan of Peyton. I think I left him out of a few different top 5's on this website. Im just saying what I think will happen. That team as a unit is bad. Like you said even with Peyton they get blown out. Thats what makes me feel they would trade the pick and try to get better everywhere else and hope Peyton has 4-5 years left.

Today was the first time I had ever seen that show.
Bayless knows nothing, and he knows far more than the girl who was on the left this morning.

I like Skip. Reminds me a lot of me. Strong opinion and right most of the time.
