Better to be fashionably late then a no show?

welltakethat 08-16-2011 11:54 AM

Fashionably late is always the best way to go in these cases if possible. If it's all or none in terms of being on time, I've found unless the skipping the event leads to a big score where they can shop from it, the wives are never happy, so the safe bet is to go to the wedding and catch the replay when you get back probably.

hud8118 08-16-2011 12:27 PM

To Cannon and Well...

thanks for the advice...got the ok from the wife to first go see Ausable run and then show up at the reception a bit late after working out some details to get her to the wedding/reception on time...this is the same wonderful lady who agreed 36 years ago to stop off at the Saratoga Harness track the night of our wedding so we could watch my horse run

Jesus, that is awesome

Wow! Either she's a saint, or you're quite a catch.

:-)

Good luck to "Sable" and all.

As you can tell, I'm not a serial poster, but your post above is a thing of beauty. Congratulations man. Here's to another 36 years!

If your wife ever decides to hold a training class, I'd like to reserve a spot for my wife.

hud8118 08-16-2011 08:54 PM

Classes...

Big Blue

showed your post to my wife...she laughed her a** off...classes begin opening day of Saratoga next year...how about at the Carolina Barbeque at High Noon...oh wait a minute...she always agrees to let me go 'solo' on opening day so will have to start class another day!

Friday rain?

Looking forward to heading to the Spa on Friday. Presently, weather indicates 50% chance of rain. If the race is taken off the turf, will Ausable still run?

Thanks, see you tomorrow.

Anyone know anything about the #9 horse in the race? 6 year old mare making her 5th lifetime start. First race June 26, 2011.... I thought first start at 6 was odd. Is she a failed broodmare?

hud8118 08-18-2011 08:42 PM

meet at Carolina

Steve

are we all meeting at Carolina Barbeque after the 8th race to head over to the paddock to see ausable saddled?

Hud

Hud,

Absolutely.. I'll have Paddock Passes for everybody early too, so if anyone wants to stop by early for one, they can. Will also be by the Paddock entrance in case anyone gets delayed coming for the 9th.

Look forward to seeing a lot of Dee Teers Friday!

wally09 08-19-2011 04:43 AM

Good luck to Ausable and all involved. Safe travels to those making the trip to the Spa.

keithting 08-19-2011 05:42 AM

Go get'em girl !! Safe journey & GLTA....

OldDog 08-19-2011 06:47 AM

I hope it's a great day for you all.

Riot 08-19-2011 01:46 PM

Good luck this afternoon - watching and hoping to see Dee Tee in the winners circle!

pointman 08-19-2011 04:27 PM

Good luck to Ausable and the partners!

Kasept 08-19-2011 05:04 PM

All good immediately out of the race. A very encouraging return and turf debut for Ausable beaten 3 lengths with the wide run. Shaun said she felt great throughout and it looks like the level and grass were good fits. Should be much tighter after the 5 month break for the next one. More later, but thanks to Gary, Paul, Shaun and Julio and the great turnout of partners and friends! Has been a fun afternoon.

hud8118 08-19-2011 09:22 PM

not bad

really not too bad a race today in first start since early March...wide...some traffic...finished only 2 3/4 in blanket finish behind the winner...next out should be even better.

SuffolkGirl 08-20-2011 09:19 PM

A couple of pictures

Another great day at Saratoga. AC looked great, she has really filled in and is starting to look more like a mare than a filly. Here are some pictures. A couple of Pal of Pals and some of Gitchee Goomee and Frivolous Buck.

And, really like the new signage on the barn

As always, thanks to Steve, Gary, Paul and Julio.
