Gary Carter in bad shape
This is a rough deal. Gary Carter with inoperable brain tumor(s). Story tries to be encouraging, but...

Huge Met fan. Love Gary. Love how hard he played...Sending him my love though it doesn't like he has very long.

Going to be a rough time for him. Wish him all the best.

Carter was one of those guys who had decent talent but delivered tremendous effort everytime he played. It's a shame these things happen.

My father lasted 8-1/2 months with Stage 4 GBM in 2003-2004. He had single tumor on left side of brain. Surgeon successfully resected as much as possible. Prognosis was 6-12 months. Dad enjoyed about 2 months of moderate quality of life, about 6 months of "just being here", and last 3 weeks in hospice environment.
This published story here poses some optimism towards possible cure. In 2003, 5-year mortality rate was 2 percent. GBM is most aggressive of over 150 known brain cancers. Senator Kennedy was fortunate that his tumor was discovered quite early which led to better results for him and his family. Hopefully, Gary Carter will continue to receive great care and enjoy his remain days with his family and friends. |
