Where are you watching the derby?

I'll be at Pocono Downs

somerfrost 05-03-2011 02:41 PM

I'll run over to the OTW and bet and then return home and watch on TV.

Antitrust32 05-03-2011 02:41 PM

on my couch after a day of golfing and drinking.

57rick 05-03-2011 02:46 PM

I'll be in Deerfield Beach Florida in front of TV with my favorite snacks.
Since no one I hang out with can read the DRF or takes handicapping serious for one day, I'd really enjoy being alone.
My girlfriend ( and everyone else I know) think I'm weird, but I don't have the patience for the casual fan.
Also, I can call in my wagers without the hassle of playing everyone's favorite numbers!
As Steve said in his selections for opening night at Churchill,
"should be great fun for those of us that wish to ignore our spouses and families...".
That captures Oaks & Derby Day for me!

Travis Stone 05-03-2011 02:48 PM

The booth at LAD.

Ogygian 05-03-2011 02:53 PM

Vegas

Indian Charlie 05-03-2011 03:01 PM

I won't even watch it, since I already know who's going to win it.

That was a joke, Hockey, Vol Jack and Da Hoss.

justindew 05-03-2011 03:08 PM

At a Derby party at Carpool in Herndon, Va. This is only the 2nd Derby Week I have missed since 1995.

Clip-Clop 05-03-2011 03:09 PM

At my home, with 20-30 of my closest friends, a whole hog and way to many mint julep jello shots.

Arletta 05-03-2011 03:13 PM

Home alone :)

Thunder Gulch 05-03-2011 03:42 PM

Infield at Churchill Downs near the 5/8th pole....damn I'm getting too old for that stuff.

randallscott35 05-03-2011 03:42 PM

On the couch.

OldDog 05-03-2011 03:59 PM

In my living room with a small group of friends and a large bottle of Woodford Reserve.

I can hardly wait.

philcski 05-03-2011 04:04 PM

Probably Keeneland, unless I find a cheap ticket on Friday.

Hickory Hill Hoff 05-03-2011 04:09 PM

I'm either going to Hollywood Park with a few horsie-board friends or doing the same.

My daughter is like a jr PETA member (enjoys informing me that it's cruelty and that I'm mean for watching). My son likes racing okay but will be with his idiot father so yeah... it's fine with me if I'm here and online and celebrating with you guys (who are here) and my TVG account. :D

Let your daughter know that I've been a PETA member since before she was born and I still love horse racing...the purpose of PETA is to speak out against obvious cruelty, not impose their will on the masses. Speaking out against individual cases of abuse in racing is one thing, sometimes some in PETA get carried away...like the magazine they sent me once describing "humane" ways of dealing with flies and mosquitoes (LOL).

Well thank you, good Sir, and yes I have tried to explain such things but alas, she insists they are tortured, abused ponies.

After a while it becomes too draining and just a waste of time trying to explain it so that's where I'm at at this point.

If I, apparently, have no soul? So be it. :D

I love how Pamela Anderson was all about the Kentucky Derby til someone in PETA yelled at her. She's a member and was a fan. I think she didn't realize we were on PETA's s**t list. Now she's calling it cruelty. As much as I believe in the ethical treatment of animals, I can practice it without joining up with PETA. I like horse racing, fried chicken is delicious, and I'm gonna call my dog a "pet" if I darn well please.

As for where I'm watching the Derby, in my house, probably from the same television I saw the Rags to Riches/Curlin Belmont. Yeah, I really need to get a newer tv. Am I the only one who doesn't have a flat screen?

Stick to conspiracy theories and worshipping your favorite horsey.

Comedy isn't your thing.

MichiganMattA 05-03-2011 04:44 PM

Hazel Park Harness Raceway. No really, im serious!

3kings 05-03-2011 04:55 PM

From the infield at CD unless I find cheap tickets. Or Scav hits it big on the Oaks and invites Philski and my group to the box he will rent.

Good one!

Ok, so lesson one. Self deprecation, then refer to something impossibly ridiculous?

How much do I owe you?

Actually, that was pretty funny.

Meeting a buddy from Colorado Springs.............we have a box at Arapahoe Park with a couple of TV's and machines close by. They run live at the end of the month but they actually have a fairly nice setup for Derby Day.

fpsoxfan 05-03-2011 05:31 PM

Derby Party at my buddies house with the usual suspects that HHH already mentioned.

Arlington Park!

LARHAGE 05-03-2011 06:53 PM

I love to do all the things I need to do in the morning, so I DVR the Derby and the supporting races, as well as HRTV. I don't read my e-mail so I don't know who won the races than when I'm ready to come in and relax, I watch the days races and events on my 60" plasma, the best thing is being able to fast forward through all the repititious crap from the day before, the monotonous commercials, and the cheap claiming races I could care less about. :)

helicopter11 05-03-2011 07:19 PM

In a hotel in Wyoming
