The La Troienne is really the "bounce back" stakes. Unrivaled Belle was every bit of awful in the Rampart last time out and Blind Luck seems to be a bit below her best so far this year.

Bill Mott is having a truly horrendous year thus far in dirt races. In the last 90 days he's 1-41 outside of Tampa Bay Downs, where he had 3 winners during that time period. That 1 win from 41 starters is good for an ROI of $0.15.

All Due Respect is racing in Michael Nevin's name since Dutrow can't get licensed and her debut for Dutrow after getting purchased privately by Pompa was terrific. She has routinely flopped in graded stakes company but that was before the barn change.

It's an interesting race on a terrific card.

There seems to be plenty that will seek the lead here. I think it sets up nice for Blind Luck.

I am hoping Blind Luck can get back, she has run into some tough setups and company this year. They were smart enough to avoid Harve de Garce last out so hopefully she can pull it together for the win.

Which race Friday is the Horses & Hope race? Didn't see it on the recap sheet this morning.

RolloTomasi 05-04-2011 07:38 PM

Why is Regal Ransom in the Alysheba?

Here's a horse who last season, and through his entire career really, was only successful in opportunistic, paceless, spots. He looked like a horse who's career might be revived by a cutback in distance.

Finally given an opportunity to sprint for the first time since his impressive maiden win a couple of years ago, he responds with a nice--and more importantly, rallying--effort at GP against the likes of Cpt. Candyman Can.

Does Godolphin take the hint?

Nope. Let's try and improve on that impressive 2010 campaign...by running in the same sort of spots. He should be in the Churchill Downs Stakes.

Looks like it's going to be a bad week for the broodmare Kelli's Ransom all the way around...

Sightseek 05-05-2011 06:15 PM

I'm looking at the La Troienne now --

I wonder if the resulting foal of a Street Sense - Unvrivaled Belle match would be a CHD freak? :D

The Edgewood is an amazing betting race. 9 of the 10 can win:tro:

That race is baffling. Will anyone want the lead?

I think Kent D. will trying and steal it on the front end with Diva Ash.

I was thinking the same thing. Looks like one of the McPeek's could try to go also if they want

Leparoux hasn't won on the front end since Tolstoy penned Childhood.

Haha nice. What did you think of the American Turf the 10th race tomorrow? That race looks so wide open with the opportunity for some big prices.

About half of them don't even look like they belong in that race.:wf

The only long shot that may remotely interest me is Man Of Strife, but he's been facing nothing but La breds, so who knows. Looks to own some tactical speed and his lone turf race wasn't terrible and Rosie is decent enough on the turf.

Programming note, Oaks coverage extended on Versus to deal with the 15 min push back of post time (to 6pm EST).

Coming into the year, I thought he might end it as HOY. I have been waiting for the light bulb to go off with him and thought he might turn a corner and become a monster. The first couple of starts were horrific but the last made me think that maybe, just maybe, he's on the right path. Of course, it was only against nw1x company.....but the bright side about racing these days is there's very little difference between maiden $20k claimers and grade one horses. You see Equestrio finished third in his stakes debut.

I thought it was after the PA Derby (possibly before) that you were saying he was a positive bum, that is why I was surprised.

Oh, I've said it plenty of times and likely will say it a few more times. But like I said, when a horse is a goat....and he happens to be in a field of other goats, he can get it done. There's no such thing as consistent anymore. The ones that you think are bad one day will pop up and win a graded stakes and the ones that you think should be the main contenders will run up the track. So I don't count anyone out of any race.

Sightseek 05-06-2011 04:00 PM

Wow Banned.

ateamstupid 05-06-2011 04:11 PM

Gomez is quite the big day rider. I could have ridden Banned to victory, but still.

King Glorious 05-06-2011 04:56 PM

Ended up with a box of Daisy Devine, St. John's River, and Bouquet Booth. Another ticket with Kathmanblu keyed in all three spots with those three. Another with Zazu keyed with them.

Kathmanblu is the pick.

HRTV really needed to get this Golden Gates Field race in while they are loading huh?

oops, had to watch it on Xpressbet

slotdirt 05-06-2011 05:07 PM

I must have misread that on VS - that exacta paid $14.60? 9-1 with 17-1? That can't be right.

ETA - never mind, they obviously had the wrong price listed for the exacta.
