OK, Oracle who do you like? Do you see Sunriver improving off his last race? I liked the way his kept coming and didn't quit in his last.

I like Sunriver. Would love to find a bomb, but I think the logicals are the ones that will decide this.

Cajungator26 06-07-2006 11:25 AM

I think I'm going to take a chance and play Oh So Awesome in a tri box along with Steppenwolfer, Bluegrass Cat and perhaps Bob and John.

david1025 06-07-2006 11:26 AM

The thing i need to remember is Zito always has his horses ready to run in this race so im definately including him in my tickets

kentuckyrosesinmay 06-07-2006 11:28 AM

I actually am going to use Sacred Light, as well as Steppenwolfer. I am not sure what to do with the others yet. I am definitely not using Platinum Couple and Bob and John.

It's tough for me to use Sacred Light after reading this...

Sacred Light worked six furlongs in 1:16.42 over the Belmont main track on Tuesday. The gray or roan Holy Bull colt received some unexpected company from two horses from another barn who passed him coming out of the far turn.

"I'm glad it happened," Hofmans said. "He got a lot of dirt in his face, and he ran through it. The best part of the work is that he was finishing, and he galloped strong. I didn't care about the time—I wanted him to get around that turn, and I wanted him finishing. It was about the way he works. He looks like he needed the work. He was blowing pretty good."

I'm not sure I like the fact that he was blowing pretty good.

Yeah...that is not good. It sounds like he won't be ready. He's probably a toss.

zippyneedsawin 06-07-2006 12:10 PM

I'm considering him a 'toss' for the win (not place and show) just because he's NEVER crossed the line first in any of his races!! I just can't see him doing it in the Belmont! ;)

zippyneedsawin 06-07-2006 12:29 PM

I think I'm not very patient... I can't wait to see the entries for the undercard!!!!

Thunder Gulch 06-07-2006 12:46 PM

I thought Zito had a bad record at Belmont (minus Birdstone)...somebody help me here

zippyneedsawin 06-07-2006 12:49 PM

I think that's right, until Birdstone, none of his entries had won. I don't know his record though.

Is it just me? I just see Sunriver as a overrated slow plodder type, maybe he'll proove me wrong, but I don't think so. I like Bob and John here.

You are right, all out to get past Lewis Michael.

I like High Finance, Deputy Glitters and Blue Grass Cat for the top 3. BandJ has been going for a long time and could be over the top, but I wouldn't be surprised if he won, looks like he's built like a stayer....

Thunder Gulch 06-07-2006 01:07 PM

I disagree on Sunriver. He closed into a paceless race last time and made a move at Gulfstream on a day when nobody made up any ground. His only ugly race was in the slop. All considered, I think he has as good of a shot as any, though the price won't be very generous.

Exceller 06-07-2006 01:08 PM

High Finance is clearly the horse to beat, especially if it is wet.

Thunder Gulch 06-07-2006 01:09 PM

At m/l odds, I'd take a shot on Deputy Glitters Albertrani and Prado. Extremely wide in the Derby, hated the slop at AQ, but already beat Bluegrass Cat and is 5x the price.

You are reading the form upside down...good shot for last if Platinum Couple runs better.

What's Sunriver going to do in another paceless race going against classier horses, not much. If he wasn't a full brother to Ashado and trained by Pletcher, he would never get this much attention. He's lucky to be a Graded Stakes Winner, the Peter Pan was an awful group.

I guess you haven't seen him recently. He can run all day and he has the fastest times of anyone in the race over this track and will love a wet track.

He's never been over a mile. I'll take my chances going against him.

Sunriver just won the Peter Pan, and had a very good Florida Derby. He was only a few lengths away from the eventual KD winner in that race. I am going to use him because I just can't pass up a nice, improving Pletcher horse.

david1025 06-07-2006 03:44 PM

Yes zito has had one win. He also has a 51% in the money ratio from his fifteen starters in the belmont stakes. hes 15-1-6-1.Some of the horses were Andomedas hero for second last year. first and third in 2004 with birdstone and royal assault.

no way he will eat that. The horse is too slow to win the race, life and death to beat lewis micheal. How can people say Bob and John has a shot and looks like a stayer!?!? What?!?! Look at the wood please, another chalk throwout. Bluegrass Cat is a true threat.

contenders
bluegrass cat
deputy glitters
jazil
oh so awesome
steppenwolfer

teases
hemingway's key
high Finance
Sacred Light

pretenders
bob and john
sunriver

what are you doing in this race
double galore
Platinum Couple

belmont park is the best 06-07-2006 03:55 PM

The belmont isnt even going to be the most exciting race to see imo. All the undercard stakes except the Acorn look to be more interesting than the belmont.

slotdirt 06-07-2006 04:03 PM

Have to admit to feeling relatively clueless on this race...just going to study and bet away.

Sun was cranked for his last and was all oit to get by Mike.Belmont will be a regresion. Pletcher has the Cat ready for this one. If we can get enough to look at Suns big sister and the layers that are in love with the deep closers it may give a little more playable odds with the Cat. BaJ is the bigest threat. Ive got to look at Oh some more but he could be the suprise horse.

Suffolk Shippers 06-07-2006 05:47 PM

Bob and John is a non contender unless UNLESS the 40 days and 40 nights of rain here on the East Coast persists. If it does, you have to at least pay attention to his Wood in similar conditions.

Do you really think Sunriver was cranked for the Peter Pan? That was off a 7-week layoff, with the Belmont being his ultimate goal. If anything, the fact he closed into that slow pace and still won makes it more impressive to me.
He is not my key horse for the Belmont, but I'm not tossing him on his Peter Pan effort.

Thanks.. that's actually better than I remembered. The last two have been good for his overall record.

Lewis Michael would have beaten JAzil, Sacred Light, Hemingway's Key and likely High Finance in the Peter Pan.

I see both Bob and John and Sunriver as the same type of plodders. Both are not going to dazzle you with a burst of speed ,but they are not quitters.

How soon we forget that Baffert was shipping and winning. Bob and John can run.

HEY, I'm just glad someone noticed. That movie has to be one of the most quotable flicks of the last five or ten years.

I immediately regret this decision! These bears are HUGE!
