NHL Playoffs

It's the Panger's favorite time of the year. How many times will Pierre McGuire fawn over something Penguins during the course of the playoffs? Can the Capitals ever win a playoff series? Will the Canucks figure out a way to get by their playoff nemesis, the Blackhawks? Is there enough geritol to go around for the ancient backliners in the Red Wings-Coyotes series?

I'm a fan, but I just can't see the Wings winning 15 more games with the injury issues they've had. My prediction is the Canucks escaping the red hot goaltending of Pekke Rinne in the West finals, while the undermanned Penguins will figure out a way to make it from the East. Canooges win in six to bring America's Hat their first Stanley Cup since 1993.

I think they got swept by the Whalers.

Alright, then how about the Cleveland Barons? 1978, perhaps a Dennis Maruk jersey?

Clyde has the only one left in existence

Cannon Shell 04-16-2011 08:06 PM

And I didn't like the Nordiques. I needed a jacket, it was cheap and the only other team they had in my size was the Dallas Cowboys and i'd rather freeze than wear that.

Heels1989 04-16-2011 09:14 PM

Tic Tic Tic
The countdown is on to the end of Claude Juilian's coaching days with the Bs.
And of course it has to be against the F'n Habs. :(

So where is Mathew to explain this......

How do the #8 seed Black Hawks ring up 5 on #1 seed Vancouver in 25 minutes making the canookies look like the Hartford Whalers??

Why does this sport have one of these disasters from a high seed each and every year?

Do the Hawks actually win this series?

I'm shocked..I thought the Canucks would have exorcised their Hawk demons after game 3. The whole team disappeared. Luongo looks shell shocked, and has reverted to his previous playoff performances. I would not be shocked to see the Hawks take this series.

rpncaine 04-22-2011 06:30 PM

Much as I'd like to see the Hawks move on, I think the Canucks will manage to come back and take it.

That's what the Yankee's thought in 2004 up 3-0 ......
Oh yeah different game...

Bruins thought the same thing last year too....

As a Wings fan, I'm desperately hoping to avoid the Predators next round. Pekka Rinne, IMO, is the best goalie in hockey today and will stand on his proverbial head next round. I'd take the Sharks in a second over the Predators, who had the Wings number throughout the season.

rpncaine 04-26-2011 06:11 AM

Totally agree, although if they get the Preds then the games would start earlier so thats a positive.

declansharbor 04-26-2011 10:49 AM

Flyers to $hit on the Sabres tonight !!! Phuck Lindy Ruff

slotdirt 04-27-2011 06:19 AM

Yeah, the travel schedule for the Wings in the playoffs is pretty ridiculous. Only team with equally as ridiculous a schedule would be the Blue Jackets, but they never make the playoffs anyway.

rpncaine 04-27-2011 08:39 AM

That which doesn't kill you makes you stronger! Go Wings!

booner 04-27-2011 09:10 AM

Thought Chicago was going to pull it out. Crawford played a whale of a game. Worth staying up late to watch.

If you are a Hawks fan you got you're monies worth. They could have very easily gone out like a wet fart. They came all the way back in the series/last night to get into OT and really pushed the so called best team in the league to the brink. Not bad for a team that backed into the playoffs.

booner 04-27-2011 09:34 AM

I'm a Preds fan. It was actually relaxing watching 2 games last night without having a freakin' heart attack. Preds-Ducks series was a good one.

If there are bigger flopping pansies in the league than the Sedin twins, I don't know who they are. God I hate those mf-ers.

Danzig 04-28-2011 07:07 PM

round two begins today.

first night in a while i won't be watching hockey...gillis has put me right off vancouver-i wanted chicago to win after his whiiiining. go nashville.
detroit/san jose ought to be a good series-and should last a bit longer than the first round for the wings vs the hapless desert dogs.

i got infinite pleasure out of watching the pens go down 1-0 at home, just a couple days after their utter embarrassment in pittsburgh.

i expect the bruins to beat the flyers.

and as for the caps....

let's go caps!!!!!

booner 04-29-2011 06:25 AM

If it wasn't for Pecka playing lights out last night, Canucks win 5-0. Preds looked out of sync majority of game. It's gonna be a short series if they don't wake up.

rpncaine 04-29-2011 06:32 AM

Crap. Really want to see the Preds move on for selfish reasons. If they play the Wings next round, I won't have to endure those 10:30 pm start times! Plus it would be great for the city of Nashville.

It's already been good around here. I've actually created some hockey fans at work talking about the first round. Now only if they will stick around a little longer.....

Good luck with the Sharks. Helps having Zetterberg back, eh? :D

rpncaine 04-29-2011 08:51 AM

For sure. Nice rest for them. I have a couple of guys right next to me that are from Chicago and Detroit and hockey was the way we bonded. Nice to have people to talk about the playoffs with, I wish I could find a horseracing "buddy" too.

slotdirt 04-29-2011 09:06 AM

At least the way the series is playing out with the Sharks, the only game that could potentially be one of those awful weeknight 10:30 p.m. EST starts is game seven, and let's not hope it goes that far. Game one tonight, game two Sunday, games 3-4 are Wednesday-Friday, game five also on Sunday, and game six back at the Joe. Only game seven has potential for severe sleep loss.

booner 04-29-2011 11:58 PM

Wow. Sharks-Red Wings just put on a show. Action packed OT. Crappy way for the Wings to lose it.

rpncaine 04-30-2011 06:36 AM

Just got more likely....
