Nice field in the Wiley.

NTamm1215 04-13-2011 01:27 PM

Keeneland needs to cut the Commonwealth loose. For the 2nd year in a row its a 5 horse race with a poor field. It's too close to the Carter to compete for dirt horses.

Otherwise, looks like a fun card.

Why? You don't see a need for a place to run for the high quality synth horses that wouldn't stand a chance in the Carter??

I'd find a stretch battle between Aikenite and Taqarub riveting.

I'm also anxious to see if Charles Lopresti can prove this year that he's not just a newer version of John Ward. His horses never run, they got good for about two months and then poof, they were all gone.

Doesn't look like the people with the high quality synth horses do.

I wonder if they will keep Aikenite sprinting this year.

Of course, if he runs well they'll probably try the Met Mile next. Or the Sword Dancer.

Wasn't Data Link pointing to the Blue Grass?

Minor issue. He is out

odbaxter 04-13-2011 08:05 PM

I really like Brilliant Speed in here. Any chance that he drifts out to 8-1 - 10-1 range.

I really like him too - doesn't he have to be 10-1+ easy?

I'm worried that he takes money and isn't going to look as nice at 4-1 or 9-2. I think this going to be a sweet betting race.

hockey2315 04-13-2011 08:16 PM

King Congie, Santiva, Sensational Slam, Willcox Inn, Wilkinson, and Crimson China all look like they should be shorter prices to me.

Hoist Her Flag 04-14-2011 04:36 PM

Anyone know if they are doing the Makers Mark Bluegrass Double this year?

asudevil 04-14-2011 05:11 PM

Exacta Box
Santiva/Twinspired

Please be advised that if you can't stomach five seconds of Wiley-related "awwwww"-ness you should refrain from clicking the link. :D

And now back to our regularly scheduled bitterness and sarcasm fest (kidding!).

That's some trainer change on Joe's Blazing Aaron.

Lone speed(?)too, DRF and other sites picking him-wonder what the post time odds will be. Big field though, odds should still be pretty good

randallscott35 04-16-2011 10:02 AM

Jenny Wiley looks like the single deepest race I've seen so far this year. Just fantastic.

Cannon Shell 04-16-2011 04:50 PM

It is time for the Bluegrass to lose the Grade 1 status.

Dahoss 04-16-2011 04:51 PM

Clever ride by Jesus Castanon in the Bluegrass.

Good call to those that liked the winner.

outofthebox 04-16-2011 04:52 PM

outofthebox 04-16-2011 04:54 PM

well, looks like Live Oak has it's Derby starter afterall..lol

somerfrost 04-16-2011 04:55 PM

Another day, another upset in the 3yo division....exciting race, was about as close as possible but longshots all.

tjfla 04-16-2011 04:57 PM

Least we got another closer!! Too bad he isn't a dirt horse tho

Imagine being worth a billion dollars (at least) and being excited about running a fair turf horse in the KY Derby? How can anyone talk about the top 2 going to the Derby without at least laughing? Their dirt records are abysmal.

Well Twinspired only has like 197,000 so he is questionable especially with Asmussen saying Silver Medallion might run next week

LOL two no shot horses battling for that last spot...

tjfla 04-16-2011 05:12 PM

The last spot may end up being Santiva with $242,000

Depends on what happens in Ark Derby

Thanks guys. He's all grass though. Thought he may transfer some luck to the Poly!

Mike 04-16-2011 05:17 PM

Oh, it needn't be the only two for that lost spot. We got the Lexington (gotta love the synth!) and the Jerome (on dirt). Silver Medallion and Mr. Commons can still sneak in

Nice job, guys. Looking at the pedigree, his 2nd dam is a full sister to Touch Gold, half to With Approval. I don't suppose he's magically developed an affinity for dirt since age 2, has he? I feel like I'm tilting at windmills when I get hopeful about there being a G1 caliber, ungelded son of Dynaformer that likes dirt (besides Barbaro obviously) and doesn't get sold overseas.

Ms. Webber isnt selling .. Dynaformer gets plenty of dirt winners and to tag him as a turf only stallion is not correct. If you listened to Nathan Fox on ATR's on Friday he outlined Dynaformers success very well. That doesnt mean that Chuck is wrong about Brilliant Speed being a turfer just that Dynaformer can produce any type.

Chuck if she doesnt get excited about winning the Blue Grass and taking a shot in a few weeks whats the point of breeding and race?
