Remind me please of another country who celebrates their "freedom" with an organized rape? I'm sure they will be bringing those responsible to justice soon.

Riot 02-15-2011 08:54 PM

Yeah, because the hundreds of thousands who protested peacefully and non-violently for 18 days - including women and children in the square - don't represent the country, while the acts of a few do.

Yeah, that's never happened in the United States, women getting attacked and raped after football celebrations, during street parades/parties, etc.

Glad she'll be okay.

Ditto. What about the soldiers and women who saved her - they get no credit for being "that country celebrating democracy"?

Coach Pants 02-15-2011 09:14 PM

She was asking for it.

This happened Friday and went unreported for 5 days with live streaming video of Anderson Copper being shoved and giving back a bittch slap? Either CBS sux or something is up? Guess CBS and the rest of the media felt the protesters (Muslim Brotherhood) overturn of the government trumps a little old rape, heck even Obama praised them with no mention of this woman. At least her head is still on I guess. And Riot your excuse "Yeah, that's never happened in the United States, women getting attacked and raped after football celebrations, during street parades/parties, etc." is despicable.

BTW Glad your glad she’ll be OK. :zz:

WTF?????? I now believe you haven't a clue of what forcible rape is?

Glad she'll be OK? Yea wrap it up and get back in the game.

Coach Pants 02-15-2011 09:49 PM

Supreme Allah says that b.itch had it comin' to her for being white.

if it were Al Qaeda instead of the Muslim Brotherhood it would have been her head instead of 'Glad she'll be OK'. So there is a bright side. ;)

dalakhani 02-15-2011 10:05 PM

I don't recall ever hearing of a situation where a reporter was raped covering an event regardless of how out of control the crowd became.

I don't think this says anything about Egyptians as a whole but it does give insight into the chaotic and savage behavior of some of the rioters.

You're an idiot, Dell. I'm glad she wasn't killed. She's alive, and lucky to be so, and lucky to get out of the hospital. I wasn't making light of her attack.

There were other reporters there, who were taken by the police, held and beaten.

You think all those protesters were Muslim Brotherhood? If so, you're clueless.

You guys who want to slam all Egyptians because of what happened to that poor reporter, but fail to acknowledge violent people can be everywhere - that's what's despicable. That was no "excuse", Dell, it's true. But let's not let that get in the way of hating Muslims. Even the ones that saved her from her attackers.

i don't either. another shock is finding that many countries still don't consider that a crime. how awful for her; altho she is lucky not to have been killed, that attack will haunt her forever.

Princess Doreen 02-15-2011 10:28 PM

I can't help but think what hell there would be to pay if a Muslim woman was raped by a few thugs hanging out in a peaceful tea party gathering.

if it were here, it would be prosecuted as it should be. in some places, she'd be on trial, which is a damnable shame.

unless it was ben roethlisberger..than there wouldn't be enough dna, and the tape would mysteriously be erased!!

Seriously, Doreen? You really think these two situations are remotely similar?

The guys at the Rand Paul rally who threw that small woman to the ground and stomped on her are doing just fine, aren't they? In fact, the guy who did the head stomping publicly demanded an apology from his victim. Do those losers represent all Rand Paul supporters? Libertarians? Tea Party supporters?

Sexual harassment of women is an all-too-common occurrence on the streets of Cairo. But many women noted a complete absence of it in the early days of protests in Tahrir Square, where demonstrators made a point of trying to create a microcosm of the society without many of Egypt's social ills.

However, in the final days, and especially after the battles with pro-Mubarak gangs who attacked the protesters in Tahrir, women noticed sexual assault had returned to the square. On the day Mubarak fell, women reported being groped by the rowdy crowds. One witness saw a woman slap a man after he touched her. The man was then passed down a line of people who all slapped him and reprimanded him.

The attack on Logan, CBS News' chief foreign affairs correspondent, was one of at least 140 others suffered by reporters covering the unrest in Egypt since Jan. 30, according to the Committee to Protect Journalists. An Egyptian reporter died from gunshot wounds he received during the protests.

A week before Friday's attack, Logan was detained by the Egyptian military for a day, along with a CBS producer and cameraman. They returned to the U.S. after their release, and Logan went back to Cairo shortly before Mubarak left.

Logan joined CBS News in 2002. She regularly reports for the CBS Evening News as well as 60 Minutes, where she has been a correspondent since 2006. She has reported widely from Iraq and Afghanistan, and other global trouble spots.

CBS said it had no further comment on Logan's assault.

No - not remotely similar. I was talking about a Muslim woman being raped. But, now that you mention it, it's an instance like what happened at the Rand Paul rally that gets all non-Democrats labeled as rabble rousers and **** disturbers with Nancy Lugosi leading the chant.

Prosecution and incarceration wouldn't be enough. There would be rioting in the streets, fire, destruction, injuries, maybe even more deaths.

AND, a lot of sports team have at least one resident felon?!~ Not making excuses for Ben, but too many people use him as their reason for hating the STEELERS.

And you're an insensitive biatch. Tell us again how she's all right? Tell me when 200 anybody assaulted a reporter in this country. Tell us how the protesters are so peaceful and the Muslim Brotherhood (In Egypt) does not want to form a political party. And for you to think this woman is anything but f'd for life proves who's the idiot. At least in American eyes.

Very well put about Big Ben. No one remembers about Vince Young getting cited. Goodall did nothing to him. Only three people knows what happened: Big Ben and the two ladies.

You ignorant jackass. I didn't say she was all right. I wasn't making light of her attack. I'm horrified at what happened to her, and at the other reporter who was killed, and at all the reporters who were beaten.

And I'm not the one here taking the horrible attack on Lara, and using her attack as political fodder to support their Islamophobia and hate. Talk about insensitive jackasses using the misery of others to justify their hate. It's appalling and pathetic, this occurring in this day and age in America.

I wish many more moderate Muslims would speak out against the barbaric customs of their "religion". Why don't they? Probably afraid they'd be auffed.

They do in America. For example, the cultural and community center moderate Muslims were trying to re-establish in NYC. Which was greeted by some Americans as the hated "ground zero mosque", and where those moderates were threatened by hate and being offed by some. Sad.

In Egypt the Muslim and the Christian populations get alone well, and respect each other. When Mubarak's policemen were sent in to attack the protesters and newsmen for those 48 hours, the Christians formed rings around the Muslims as they stopped to pray in public, to protect them from attack while they prayed.

I never said that, nor implied it, nor do I think it. All middle east countries are not the same, but none are like the United States.

You have a younger generation who, amazingly, successfully and peacefully overthrows an entrenched 30-year dictator, it's in the interest of most in the world to try and ensure that nascent cry for democracy doesn't again go the way of Hamas. They are trying the same protests in Iran right now, and thousands are arrested, beaten, killed. Not going as Egypt did. Algeria, Yemen ....

But thinking all people of the middle east are islamic terrorists, or secret islamic terrorists, bent upon taking over the entire world, are the absurd hysterical crazy rantings of a Glenn Beck.

You're quick to correct anyone when they put words in your mouth - don't do it to others. I never said that all Muslims are terrorists. There are moderates who, if they are true to their religion, believe in the propogation of their faith to eventually envelop the world. Big, big difference.

Of all people Jesse Ventura summed it up and I would add it is the ultimate money making machine.

"Organized religion is a sham and a crutch for weak-minded people who need strength in numbers. It tells people to go out and stick their noses in other people's business."

Excuse me, I never implied you did. I was responding to Randall, but I didn't imply he did, either.

You are a complete idiot. Yes, I mean of low IQ. Because when you say "yours truly", you are referring to yourself.

Okay!

Define the term, "yours truly"
