NYRA Network launching new twice-weekly 'National Report'
NYRA NETWORK INTRODUCES “THE NATIONAL RACING REPORT”
OZONE PARK, N.Y. – The New York Racing Association, Inc. (NYRA) will begin airing a new television show, “The National Racing Report,” starting Saturday, February 12, on the NYRA Network, channel 71 on Time Warner’s basic cable system. Hosted by NYRA TV Analysts Jason Blewitt and Andy Serling, the show will usually air Saturday and Wednesday mornings. The Saturday show will preview upcoming weekend stakes races from New York and around the country, while the Wednesday edition will recap major stakes from the previous weekend with a focus on Triple Crown preps. “It's an exciting time at NYRA, and the NYRA Network is a big part of that,” Serling said. “The National Racing Report is our latest effort to bring more information to our fans. While New York racing will always be the primary focus of our programming, like our customers, we are always interested in the important races taking place around the country, especially at this time of year with the Triple Crown quickly approaching.” Each segment will air live at 9:30 a.m. on Saturdays and Wednesdays, with a taped replay following at 10:30 a.m. on both days. On weeks with special holiday live racing on Monday at the NYRA track, the recap show will usually air on Thursday instead of Wednesday. When live racing at Aqueduct Racetrack shifts to a 1 p.m. first post, the segments will air at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Late last year, NYRA reached an agreement with New York City to provide content for Channel 71, a channel that had previously carried the NYCOTB Racing Network. The channel, now known as the NYRA Network, shows racing content from approximately 11 a.m. – 8 p.m. After the conclusion of NYRA’s live races, the channel highlights select simulcast signals from tracks around the country, with coverage usually extending to the end of the card at Santa Anita. On NYRA dark days, usually Mondays and Tuesdays, the channel exclusively shows simulcast signals from around the country. |
Are they still going to do Thoroughbred Weekly, on MSG Plus?

This has nothing to do with the MSG+ shows like Thoroughbred Weekly. The NYRA Network is Channel 71 in NYC and the boroughs.
|
Will the show be on the NYRA site, either streamed or archived for later viewing?

Congrats on the new show Andy!!
Guess no more drinking late on Friday nights!!! |
Somethings not right. 71 is an empty station at my house. I have time warner digital cable. Nothing comes up, I go to 71 and question marks flash on the screen.
|
Congrats, Andy. :)

Andy, do you know if there is any chance that Time Warner will allow only the show to be DVR'd so that you don't have to tape 8 hours of programing? This would be helpful for Talking Horses as well. |
I'd love to see it statewide for all the NY tracks on the network . Under one NY betting umbrella . Just like Quikdraw. NY needs to get their act together before they impulsively slap that 2.75% surcharge on purses.
Provide an open framework for racing in NY and there will be increased revenue for the state because the business is growing. That surcharge is totally irresponsible. |

We can try, but from experience I can say this will likely be VERY hard to make happen, but we'll look into it. |

NYRA Rewards just gets better and better. Here is the current list of tracks which live video feeds are currently or will be shown from:
•Aqueduct Racetrack •Arlington Park •Belmont Park •Calder Race Course •California Fair Circuit •Churchill Downs •Delta Downs Racetrack •Fair Grounds Race Course •Golden Gate Fields •Gulfstream Park •Hollywood Park •Hoosier Park •Laurel Park •Lone Star Park •Mountaineer Racetrack •Oaklawn Park •Parx Racing •Pimlico Race Course •Portland Meadows •Sam Houston Park •Santa Anita Park •Saratoga Race Course •Sunland Park •Tampa Bay Downs •Turf Paradise •Turfway Park •Woodbine Racetrack If they added race replays it would pretty much make the complete package! |
The replay should be on the website, nyra.com, today and every Wednesday ( Thursday next week ) and Saturday going forward. The following link should work, else you can't miss the link on the right near the top on the home page.

NYRA now takes the lead in TV programming. Capital was a nose in front and now 10 lengths behind due to some lame idea of filling their morning programming with sports talk. Good job "Action" when given a choice you always pick #3 of 2 choices.

|

I just watched the online archive. Very nicely done show.
|
I watched it last night and enjoyed it.
In a lot of ways - it's like what the Tuesday show on MSG+ should be. I realize you'd be showing fewer races because of the banter - but it's to the point now where every stakes race run across the country can be watched by anyone who has a computer - for free - at DRF's stakes result site. I DVR the Tuesday show - but only because the picture is better quality than what I can get from watching those races off the computer. |
All times are GMT -5. The time now is 05:08 AM. |
