Egypt
|
What's scary is the military Egypt has (largely supplied by us) and the uncertainty of who or what will take control of it.
|
Hopefully our country doesn't get involved in this mess. This country has enough on thier plate with Iraq and Afghanistan.
|
Glad i am not there.....be thankful you are here in th USA...
|
Egyptians in Chicago staged a demonstration protest 2000 strong.
IMO Kinda of like the idiots at OTB's who yell instructions to jockeys and complaints to stewards / trainers through the TV but I guess they're at least within a few thousand miles. :zz::zz: Yell louder and they might hear, or not. |
There go my chances of EVER seeing the pyramids... :(

I'm for the Vegas Pawn episode when the King Tut Mask comes in.
'Um let me get someone down here to authenticate it and then we can talk price.' After finding out it's real and estimated at $500 million US. 'Ok very few people can afford this, it might be a curse for me to even buy it. I can do $50 thousand cash money' 'You can't do more. I came all the way from Egypt with this and it wasn't easy' 'Well it does have some damage from when the museum guards tried to machete you. I'll do $75 grand no more.' 'Ok Sold 75K' |

Maybe we will see the mask on Pawn Stars. Love to see if Corey knows anything about King Tut. |

Strange how The Muslim Brotherhood, all over the news shows last night as a successor to Mubarek and his party, was represented as a peaceful secular group yet are making statements like, "A leading member of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt told the Arabic-language Iranian news network Al-Alam on Monday that he would like to see the Egyptian people prepare for war against Israel, according to the Hebrew-language business newspaper Calcalist.
Muhammad Ghannem reportedly told Al- Alam that the Suez Canal should be closed immediately, and that the flow of gas from Egypt to Israel should cease “in order to bring about the downfall of the Mubarak regime.” He added that “the people should be prepared for war against Israel,” saying the world should understand that “the Egyptian people are prepared for anything to get rid of this regime.” Ghannem praised Egyptian soldiers deployed by President Hosni Mubarak to Egyptian cities, saying they “would not kill their brothers.” He added that Washington was forced to abandon plans to help Mubarak stay in power after “seeing millions head for the streets.” http://www.jpost.com/Headlines/Article.aspx?id=206130 |
He can keep wishing.

But I think BBC is there. |
CNN screwed up when they missed Anderson Cooper getting beat and Amanapour flea and get her windows broken out doing so. Makes you kind of wonder whether that's how it happened? We shall see soon as getting punched 10 times in the head will surely leave a mark and he'll be live.
|
I already saw video of that on the internet (not on CNN <g>) Pretty ugly. Did the gov-sent Mubarik supporters really think riding in on tourist camels and poor slow ponies would keep them from harm? I do give the people of Egypt credit, however - they didn't hurt the animals as they beat the crap out of their riders. Frankly, I've been surprised how non-violent it's been so far, but looks like Mubarik wants to change that. The army needs to escort him away.
|
Getting violent and ugly overnight. Shots being fired on protesters (suspected to be Mubarik policemen sent by government) and army isn't helping or preventing.
|
Obama is dropping the ball again. Shocking. How many days will it take for terrorists to enter Egypt through Sudan and set up shop?
Could be looking at up to 20,000 Americans stuck. |
Wow reporters getting attacked for no reason. Way to go Egypt. This country should pull all of our people out of there including diplomats. Once this is all over im sure Obama will give Egypt money to rebuild. Pretty much this is turning into a smaller version of Iraq.

It's Mubariks police force and supporters that have brought this latest violence overnight, and it's they who are attacking the journalists. |

Live feed cut
It's reported the news media's live feed of the square was cut late this afternoon. With the attacks upon, and rounding up of, the international journalists, people are starting to get afraid Mubarik has blocked witness by the world, and is going to set the police force upon killing the protesters,

I guess all the rest of the journalists are lying, too? For those that are actually worried about what Mubarik is doing to international journalists, it's reported Brian Williams and Katie Couric left Egypt late today for safety fear. ABC producer threatened with beheading. Here's more on journalist crackdowns. Al Jazeera journalist missing. Christian Amanpour is going to have a 1 hour special on Nightline ABC tonight, interview with Mubarik. Quote:

Nascar, those were Mubarek supporters and police sent by the government to start trouble. Did you see what happened in the square in the past 24 hours at the huge rally? Nothing. Very peaceful. The army and the citizens set up barriers, people were frisked and ID's checked before they were let in, and it was fine. Meanwhile, a group of yelling, screaming Murbarik supporters trying to start trouble was kept away from there by the army. Don't worry, Nascar, Dell says Anderson Cooper didn't really get hurt, that was "bs" |

Meanwhile the response from the WH? The 'stick your head in the sand' no comment. White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs declined to address the assassination reports when asked earlier by Fox News. "I'm not going to ... get into that question," Gibbs said. http://www.foxnews.com/world/2011/02...ell-fox-news/# |

BTW I’d really like a comment and the thought process behind releasing Britain’s Nuke secrets to the Russians as alleged by wikileaks. I’m hoping the report is false but if it is true we’re in deeper shiat with this guy than I could have ever imagined. |
now if you could fix the quote fiasco in this thread then you'll have all the answers to life's problems.

Egypt - army now in control
Mubarik will speak to the nation within the next hour. Expected to resign, of course. The army has taken control of the country.

Al Quaeda hates the Muslim Brotherhood because they call for non-violence. Just sayin'. But no, from what most have said, the Muslim Brotherhood won't be taking over. They work on a community level, not a leadership level. |
