I would start with not playing Turfway at all. Why would you? So much better racing goes on at other places. Tampa Bay turf racing seems pretty fair. I have a bit of a hard time with the dirt.

Just stop betting.

Hell no! Bet more!

All kidding aside...stay away from Turfway, especially with tri bets. You are betting on the worst jockeys in the world and expecting them to actually read a form, have a set of nuts, put forth great effort, have a sense of pace, etc so that your time and effort handicapping the pace, race shape, class, etc pays off. Good luck with that. There is a reason why when Bejarano and Leparoux started there they absolutely made a joke of the rest of the colony.

Add that to the fact that you are assuming a trainer like Joe Woodard is entering his horse with good intentions and has the horse ready to run its best that day.

Seattleallstar 12-28-2010 03:49 PM

add the Michael Maker runner's too. But I dont know with Turfway its like a crapshoot.

Tampa Bay its either favorite with super bombs. Or a super bomb beating a favorite, or the horses on form in paper dont even run a lick. Its nuts!

Buy a dart set

I gave up on Turfway 2 years ago. I have struggled with that track consistently. I now focus my efforts elsewhere.

Haven't focused on TBD too much.

alysheba4 12-30-2010 08:43 AM

they are both cluster fks..........

Coach Pants 12-30-2010 08:44 AM

The Tampa rail only seems dead because of the s.hitty camera angle.

flipsal 12-30-2010 08:55 AM

TP?Tampa

Tampa is playable..trainers and jockey patterns are chartable..great turf racing...turning into a good winter meet...Turfway..bring a large bankroll..and hie the ALL button, and go for the homeruns! :zz:

I've got a friend who does quite well at Turfway......he posts his plays daily....google in No Bull Sheet...............

That site is a fraud. The dude puts up 4 hoses a race and takes credit for a win if any of the top 4 horses win, and ANY exotic that has a combination of the 4 horses.

He is a clown. He claimed to have 9 out of 10 winners yesterday.

This won is a beaut:

4. - 8. Taurus The Bull, 1.=Mano Point, 4th 3.Googlez De Cerveza, 1st 11.Carr Pool

Hit a $2 Win bet{Money}92.40

stonecutter 12-30-2010 01:13 PM

Lets see......last time I looked Steve post 4 horses......Bogey post 4 horses and Hooves post 3 to 4 horses a race.....where's the difference? Believe they
all post where the horse finished..............if your not interested, don't go to the site................By the way....its free.....and picks are posted before the races go off.....

I don't know if they take credit for having THE WINNER or any possible exotic combination with their picks. This guy does. If they do too it's lame. I doubt they claim having 90% winners on a 10 horse card by giving out 40 horses. His site offers very little to nothing of value. Especially by justing posting a bunch of horse names with no kind of explanation behind his picks.

As far as it being for free. It has to be. No person would pay a thing for access to the site.

stonecutter 12-30-2010 01:47 PM

Don't believe anyone is claiming anything........As I stated before....don't go to the site if your interested.............. And speaking of clowns.......go look in the mirror................................

No...he's not claiming having 90% winners. I suggest you actually look at the site before making a jacka@@ out of yourself.

Stats: 1st. 9 90% 2nd. 7 70% 3rd. 6 60% 4th. 8 80% Exa: 6 60% Tri: 5 50% Sups: 3 30%

Trust me I won't. I don't find any usefulness on a site that gives out 40 horses a day.

The stats are really ridiculous. Especially that he is basing it after going 4 deep in every race. That's $80 a race he's technically investing, how about some sort of ROI number, that would be a little more pertinent then taking credit for a %90 win rate when going 4 deep in every race.

Maybe I could buy it for Turfway with all the big field and cheap races that seems very hard to hit (I personally hate the place). But he has the same format for Santa Anita. He is 4 deep in every race. The opener only had a five horse field. If that doesn't speak volumes, I'm not sure what will.

That's my point. The stats are a joke. I think it's great that people want to cap races and share their picks. But be realistic about returns/win%. Realistically you could put up the top 4 betting choices each race and claim a crazy win%.

The person who posted on here is all bent that I called him out. Well.......if you are gonna post someone's picks/website, have it at least be somewhat realistic.

There was a guy (maybe it's the same guy from that site) who posted here for about a week. All he was posting was pick 4 tickets going from what I remember 4 deep in every leg. I think his tag had something with pick 4 in it, but he was only here for about a week because he couldn't understand why people were giving him grief for posting $256 pick 4 tickets everday. I also think he was trying to promote his site/blog.

As far as the guy we are talking about, I'm not sure how any horse player could really take him seriously. It's almost like he's throwing crap at a wall and see what sticks. He just has an insane format.

stonecutter 12-30-2010 06:14 PM

No it isn't the same guy......................and it wasn't promoting anyone"s site....Someone ask for a suggfestion and that was just one...........like I said ....you can go to the site or you don't have to............end of discussion.

That was Thunderin' Dan tha Pony Man from Racin' Aces...pretty sure... but he had opinions (thoroughly thought out - just extremely poor and pathetically executed opinions)

I don't know anyone who would try to pick 4 winners at Turfway each race and brag about it... That's hilarious... Might as well give Batagillia the mike ...oh wai.....

THUD!!!

No I remember Thunder Dan and it was definitely not him. I wonder if Byk or whomever gave him the golden dart remembers the guys name. I have searched for some old posts/plays but I think that they were all vaporized.

trackrat59 12-30-2010 07:24 PM

I like Turfway. I pay close attention to breeding and how fit the horses look on the track.

Avoid Turfway, focus on Tampa. Avoid the chalk on top(unless odds on), and you will be ok.

Anyone who does this is a joke IMO. You should have clear 1-2-3 everyrace with a most likely winner. Everyone does it that way though and it's just the easy way out.

MISTERGEE 12-30-2010 11:07 PM

at tb i try to play the jocks and trainers that seem to gear up for that meet each year, at tp I only look at the races they ran at tp, I throw out all their other races, this may help a "little"

Gate Dancer 12-31-2010 08:39 AM

My suggestions for both tracks are as follows:

Turfway---look for subtle class drops by reading and understanding the conditions of the individual races. It seems as though they have a multitude of $5K claiming races but there are slight differences in each. But you also must have the ability (bankroll) to spread. As mentioned in another post, proven Turfway form is also a sign.

Tampa---nothing tricky here, just good old fashioned homework should point you in the right direction. Centeno seems to have potential in every race. Love playing this track. Great options both on turf and dirt.
