I'm going........thought the 1st show was interesting. HBO normally does an excellent job with these specials.

Danzig 12-21-2010 06:36 AM

would love to be at the winter classic. will 'settle' for seeing the caps sunday vs the canes. leaving town tomorrow, excited to see them play live for the first time since i managed three caps games in march.
my mother doesn't know we're coming for xmas. can't wait to surprise her either!!

hoovesupsideyourhead 12-22-2010 08:21 AM

caps put in a nice win last night.

Beating the Devils is nothing that would make you think the Caps are back on track. I actually thought the Caps were brutal last night. They look like a beer league team running around without a clue. Plus I don't know what's with Alexander Semin, he was invisible last night and for chunks of the season and when he wasn't invisible, he stunk. They do have as much or more talent than any team in the league, but I think Boudreau needs to drop a few less F-bombs and maybe teach a little defense and instill some discipline.

Danzig 12-22-2010 02:24 PM

i thought the caps looked good, while recognziing they weren't beating a top team while putting up five. brodeur got so flustered at one point that he purposely shot the puck into the stands, getting a delay of game in the process. semins been out the last few games hurt, so i'm not surprised he didn't come back great yesterday. also, when semin is hot, he's hot. he's the leading scorer at the moment for the team. now, when he's not, he's really cold. right now all the top scorers seem to be in a funk. they've been in a funk since thomas left. now, flash wasn't a big producer, but they did mess up the team by removing a key, well liked player. of course it has an impact.
marcus is doing well, as is matthieu perrault. i think the caps will do just fine for the year.

I think the Caps will be fine in the long run too, but it is a bit of a problem that they can go into such a prolonged funk. Doesn't work so well in the playoffs. I hope they right the ship. They are one of the most entertaining teams in the league when they are on.

hoovesupsideyourhead 12-22-2010 04:39 PM

and the pens can do no wrong..i hope the caps bring the 'a' game on the winter classic day..otherwise is would be a blow out.

hoovesupsideyourhead 12-23-2010 07:56 PM

caps pens 1-1 going into the 3rd..:tro:

hoovesupsideyourhead 12-23-2010 08:58 PM

2-2 shoot out after 3

shoot out 1-1

pgiaco 12-24-2010 01:07 PM

Seeing the Pens might be just what the Caps needed to wake up.

Nothing like a game of Hokey to stop the juicies flowing.

Weather looks bad. Rain predicted and temps as high as 50 degrees, may be delayed til 8:00pm or even noon Sunday. If it rains they may even have to postpone it.

Danzig 12-29-2010 06:38 AM

i'm figuring the game won't be saturday. caps are doing well right now. enjoyed the game sunday-other than seeing matthieu perrault go down in a heap right in front of me. schultz is back, which is a damn good thing.

The people who really will get screwed are the people who scalped tickets. The refunds will be for face value.

hoovesupsideyourhead 12-31-2010 05:08 PM

sweet

3kings 01-01-2011 06:12 PM

The Capital fans wearing the Semin shirts should have thought about what they were doing before they left the hotel. They are taking some serious abuse from the tailgaiters. Lol.

While I am enjoying the game, I can't help from thinking how much better it would be if it was played indoors. I really believe the rain and ice (now it looks like the wind could be a factor) is complicating things for the players. But still, it has been very entertaining so far.

Danzig 01-01-2011 10:05 PM

it was crappy conditions with all that standing water. great game tho. happy for the caps, who seem to be doing much better after their losing streak. thought the ovie goal should have stood. if it wasn't goalie interference and a penalty, how is it not a goal? if the goalie can't get back to the net, he doesn't need to go behind it to play the puck.

we figured out how to mute the announcers on the stereo sound, and keep the game sounds. game was much better after that!

MaTH716 01-01-2011 10:13 PM

I thought Valarmov was very good early when they needed him. Then the Caps just dominated the play from the start of the second period and were the much better team the rest of the way.
It's becoming a great rivalry. Maybe the two most talented teams in the league and they genuinely dislike each other.

Danzig 01-02-2011 09:24 PM

from ted leonsis (a good d.c. sports team owner, can he buy the skins?!):

"The highlight for me was two sections filled with Caps fans and Pens fans and they looked at each other and they started chanting, 'Flyers suck.' It's like they bonded around something."

Rudeboyelvis 01-04-2011 08:38 PM

Tampa Bay finally has a goaltender again after 7 years of playing the game without one. Look Out.
