GOP blocks vote on 9/11 responders

Last Thursday, the Senate Republicans prevented - filibustered - the House-passed bill providing health care to 9/11 responders from coming to the Senate floor for a vote. All 42 Republicans voted against bringing this bill to the Senate floor for a vote. Because, you know, it's not important for the Senate to discuss and vote upon this issue. At least the minority sez so.
Thus, the bill is currently dead.

The hilarious - well, pathetically sad - thing is this: Faux News has an op-ed, complete with sad music, railing against how evil "the Congress" is for not helping the 9/11 responder heros - while completely failing to note it was 42 Republicans - and zero Dems - who prevented this vote and are entirely responsible for this bill's failure. Go, "fair and balanced" ! And emotionally overwrought <g>

Good. They don't deserve special treatment at the expense of taxpayers.

Go f.uck yourself, you disingenuous libtard.

You always bring your very best to Derby Trail discussions.

Yeah, the 9/11 responders deserve some extra help. The GOP won't even allow it to be discussed. They are the ones that need to go f.uck themselves.

Coach Pants 12-14-2010 05:27 PM

How about the Katrina responders?

Lets just keep printing money. F.uck it. Keep this faux Utopia alive.

dellinger63 12-14-2010 06:34 PM

Did NYC stop health care to its employees?

$7 billion for 20K workers amounts to 350K a head. There's a leak somewhere and thank God someone is looking out for 'our' money. Like I said get used to it NO!

Now if the GOP has the guts to stand up to this over inflated disguised tax break all is good IMO. When the 'most left' of the left are on the same side as the tea party 'tea baggers' surely they're on to something!

They aren't. But they are not the ones that have blocked mere discussion of every single thing in the Senate until they are guaranteed that the top 2% of wealthiest earners in the country won't have their tax rate raised from 36% to 39%.

Right Dell, the GOP is the "responsible party of no". LOL! Because concern for the wealthiest among us is SO much more important to our country right now than unemployment insurance extensions so 2 million people won't risk starvation for Christmas. Or 9/11 responders being treated as the heros they were.

We all know exactly who the current GOP stands behind, and what they stand for. They've made that clear as day.

But won't they be heralded as such at the muslim community center?

BTW how about going after the people responsible for 9/11 for retribution?

You think that millions of the people that have been out of work a year and a half haven't already lost the house, gone through their savings, are depending upon food banks for food, etc? And "they" all have obese children? Two million will not have any money for food in two weeks. Yeah, that's a real LMAO situation.

You're a piece of work.

Read again I said nothing about ALL I'd revert to Michele O for stats on what percentage of those kids are.

I'd wager that the VAST majority of unemployed are closer to a job than starvation but then again I don't live in KY so it may be different there.

In my area many of 'the starving' are selling food stamps for 50 cents on the dollar. Same w/their prescription medicine. And a lot of their kids are obese!

ateamstupid 12-14-2010 07:55 PM

This is indefensible, which is evident since the Republicans didn't even defend it. They just no-showed.

Danzig 12-15-2010 06:20 AM

just an fyi-the federal govt funds clinics with free testing and treatment already. congress currently funds this on a year to year basis. the clinics have said that even if the bill just filibustered didn't pass, they have plenty of money set aside to continue testing and treament for some time. altho i'd have to think that the yearly funding will continue...however, there is still thinking that the bill could pass come the next congress.

Where would the money come from for this health care for these people? Oh wait lets just take from Social Security and the Military's pay.

I think there should be a statue of each person that died on 9/11 right in front of the new tower.

i don't know all the details about the bill that was presented vs what was in place already. but i have to say i don't think that an emergency crew should somehow benefit from 9-11, whereas a responder to a run of the mill everyday sort of thing gets less. there are already things in place, including workmans comp, to take care of on the job injuries. i understand that 9-11 wasn't typical...but how do you tell one fireman he gets more, and another that he doesn't because he got injured on a less publicized call?

France does have some pretty good beaches. I used to love it when in Cannes and it was lunch time and the ladies working across the street in the shops would come down to the beach and just have thier thong on. France also has some pretty good tasting crepes.

Whole thing reminds me of this commercial.

Allow a bunch of Muslims to come in your country (one who's dominant culture is not acceptable to them,) and you're gunna take one in the neck. That's just reality. This 7 Bil is part of the price of ignoring that reality.

Hey little boy. I'm more of a man than you ever was or ever will be.
Isn't past your bedtime? Don't have to go bed before you go to school tomorrow morning?

Are there such things as "gender specific" insults? I really don't know. Like, it would feel really weird being around Lori and calling her a "dick". I could see Del and coach and whoever watching a game and saying "Hey, d#$k, get me a beer" or "where is my beer you punk?" to one another.

I couldn't imagine those same things being uttered to women. No one has ever said "susan, you are such a punk!" I have heard other names that are pretty rude but never punk, a$$hole or d$%k. No one ever called me a p@$$y.

Nascar, in your honor, I think we should make a special thread with gender specific insults. If you are going to tough talk someone on the internet, you have to be gender specific in the names that you call people. Threatening women with name calling meant for men is so beneath someone of your breeding.

Antitrust32 12-17-2010 10:23 AM

its okay Dala...

I dont care what anyone calls me.... as long as they dont call me too late for dinner!!

(I've been called dick & a-hole plenty of times... mostly all deserved)
