I repeat. Soul. Mates.

Mods - we need a vomit emotocon.

The Indomitable DrugS 11-19-2010 06:03 PM

Stumbled at the start - but still made sure to bake Indian Charlie in the Kentucky Derby ... this horse looked like a star until he showed up at Del Mar with a bar shoe off of a layoff.

Name him.

Indian Charlie 11-19-2010 06:03 PM

I just threw up the rest of what little herring and quinoa I still had in me.

That's referring to the soul mate thing, not Old Trieste.

NTamm1215 11-19-2010 06:04 PM

That's Old Trieste, right?

Indian Charlie 11-19-2010 06:05 PM

And Old Trieste was a monster, as you know.

For him to accomplish what he did, with that trainer, he should be in the HOF.

What a monster crop that was!

The Indomitable DrugS 11-19-2010 06:06 PM

Correct on Old Trieste.

The Indomitable DrugS 11-19-2010 06:08 PM

Back in the good ole days when 'Calvin Borel at Chuchill Downs' used to mean something.

Name him.

The Indomitable DrugS 11-19-2010 06:24 PM

For a hint - Distorted Humor was 2nd to him the day he popped the 118 Beyer. The horse above wasn't much of a sire - but he did sire a favorite Frank Generozio trained sprinter of mine .. who debuted on a dead rail at AQU.

hockey2315 11-19-2010 06:28 PM

Wild Escapade.

The Indomitable DrugS 11-19-2010 06:29 PM

Correct - sire of the immortal Don Six.

The Indomitable DrugS 11-19-2010 06:31 PM

Last one ... one of the rare very good ones who raced at 2 furlongs ..

Name him.

blackthroatedwind 11-19-2010 06:35 PM

Caller One?

blackthroatedwind 11-19-2010 06:36 PM

I cheated to see I was wrong.

I got the first letter right. Does that count?

Nope - it was a pace rival of his though.

I think you cheated badly. His first letter doesn't start with a C.

I did. Google said Came Home.

blackthroatedwind 11-19-2010 06:41 PM

I can't even cheat well.

I got it now.

hockey2315 11-19-2010 06:42 PM

Squirtle Squirt. I cheated too.

Bogey 11-19-2010 06:42 PM

Squirtle Squirt - Bobby Frankel's 1st Breeders' Cup win

The Indomitable DrugS 11-19-2010 06:43 PM

I thank you guys for cheating. Now I can finally leave the computer and go outside.

I didn't pull Squirtle Squirt either and I have no moral objection to you cheating, but Doug should probably ban you for guessing Caller One, who was the pace in the 2000 BC Sprint and thus could not have raced in the juvy event listed in the PPs that same year.

Poor, poor guessing.

Doug can ban people???

Hey Dougie, can you ban TFF please?

KirisClown 11-20-2010 11:47 AM

Grade I winning multimillionaire..

10 pnt move up 11-20-2010 12:35 PM

So on Wild Escapade, who was the trainer change on those crazy Beyers.....probably did not even raise suspicion at the time.

Let me guess, they floated his teeth?

Wild Escapade was an interesting horse in that he won the Hopeful in '94. WHich means that the crazy improvement he made in those two races was as a 5 year old. I know Dogwood owned him and when he won the Hopeful Leo O'brien trained him. But I can't remember who trained him for those big beyer wins.

Stephen Dunn is listed.. He took over the training duties from the horses owner..

Wild Escapade did win the Hopeful.. so he had a small amount of ability on certain days I guess..

Another horse who always seemed to run shockingly well for Calvin at Churchill Downs. Beat an absolutely spectacular field in her final career race there.

Name her.

eajinabi 11-20-2010 06:25 PM

Dream Scheme

The Indomitable DrugS 11-20-2010 07:04 PM

correct.

The 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place finishers all came back to win Grade 1's. 3rd place finisher Beautiful Pleasure took the Breeders Cup Distaff the following year.

The Indomitable DrugS 11-21-2010 07:49 PM

Asmussen had her rolling before he was a big training name ...

Looked like she was on her way to greatness ... but got hurt and had to miss over a year after a huge win.

Name her.
