They are running that bullsh!t Urban Meyer/old Wv Moutnaineers/Oregon Ducks offense at Auburn. Cam Newton won't get drafted in the first round to play QB. |

Strong arms are a dime a dozen. You need accuracy in the NFL. If he chooses to run, he'll get hurt. |

Newton is a guy who will probably play wide out and run the wildcat. Newton will be a solid pro - just not at QB |
I disagree. I think he will get drafted first round and play qb. If tebow can go first round then this guy is top 5.
Whether he is a top qb in the pros is hit or miss but he will get a shot...unless he is arrested first. |

You think that the Shoelaces kid at Michigan or Masoli are NFL qb's as well? In the NFL - you have to really be able to read and understand defenses to play qb. That takes a lot of work. You can have an IQ of 50 and zero work ethic - and still be a superstar in the kind of offenses that Shoelaces, Newton, Tebow, and Masoi have thrived in. It's mainly about reading one or two defenders - and having more athletic ability than your opposing defense. |
Masoli is 5 11
Shoelaces might be 6'0 Newton is 6' 6 Tebow is 6' 3 I'm not saying newton will be good although the jury is still out. I always thought tebow would be a bust. I just said he will be drafted in rd 1 at qb. He has too much athletic ability for some team not to take a shot. It's not skill, it's size and potential. |

I know its against a shitty Georgia team, but I got a chance to really watch him today. Looks pretty accurate to me. Thread the needle on a few throws. Not sure about the final stats, 2 lazy to look, but at one point he was 11/14 with 2 drops.
Also, before the game on CBS the coach kept saying he is the starting Qb THIS WEEK. NOT GOOD. |
We can revist this thread in about 5 years as long as Stevie doesn't blow the place up....or I don't dart myself for clicking on another Z thread. I'm starting to understand the teenagers that cut themselves, I know it is wrong, but I keep finding myself clicking and reading. Then when I get to the end of the thread, I realize I'll never get that time back and I promise myself to never do it again. I digress.
Nothing Newton did this week or will do next week, will change my mind on his NFL potential. |
Newton can play, but Nick Fairley made a couple pretty gnarly cheapshots on Georgia's QB yesterday. If he were in the NFL, he'd be sitting this week, or at least be $75k less wealthy.

Bama still hasn't played to their abilities.
I'm looking forward to the Iron Bowl. It will arguably be the most important game in all of CFB this season. |
The run sets up the pass in that high tempo spread. It feels like 4 out of every 5 plays is a freaking run and defense still are lucky if they contain the run .. they'll sell out and the pass should be open.
Put that guy in a pro style offense against an NFL defense and make him beat defenses with his 68 IQ. Mike Vick is a different breed - and this guy is no Mike Vick. Mike Vick is easily the greatest college QB I've ever seen. He ran a pro style offense at Virgina Tech .. and he didn't run the ball with smoke and mirrors out of high tempo option spread. Florida State had a great defense - and he made them look like monkeys on broken plays - and well defended drop back passes. I think Newton could be an outstanding NFL player - just not as a QB. You have to have smarts and true dedication to be an NFL QB... or be named Mike Vick .. and he ain't no Mike Vick. |
Don't get me wrong- I'm not saying this guy is the next anything. I only think he will have a shot at playing qb because of his size and athleticism.
I haven't seen enough of him to know one way or the other. The niffle certainly hasn't bee kind to spread qbs. Bama will beat them in the iron bowl |
this just keeps getting better!

ROLL TIDE!

This is our BCS Championship.
If we lose I'm not shaving until we beat them again. |
