Those of you attending the Cup on Saturday can perform an important public service by filming the reactions of the Zaniacs after the Classic.

Yes. It was supposed to be funny.

Wrong number. I'm the phone sex number you always call. When are you going to blow me tonight?

Zenyatta haters are desperate for attention. Maybe 60 minutes should make a special about you guys but then again who would watch losers? Keep on digging!

No, the losers are clowns like this:

Eric Sondheimer, Los Angeles Times

All debate should end over who is the best horse of all time if Zenyatta does what she has always done: win for the 20th and final time on Saturday in the Breeders’ Cup Classic.

How can anyone argue she isn’t the best horse with a record of 20-0?

I’ve watched her since she was a 4-year-old, and what’s most remarkable is that in a sport where there are no sure winners, she is.

She always starts last and somehow always rallies to win. She runs only as fast as her jockey needs her to run. She has faced speed horses, come-from-behind horses, traffic troubles, won on dirt, won synthetics, won at six furlongs, won at 1 1/4 miles. She dances before races, she poses after races.

Secretariat was great, but Zenyatta is greater because she has never lost.

I wont go off saying she is the best horse ever but she should be considered as one the great horses IF she wins the classic again.

If she wins the Classic for the first time on dirt, she might compare favorably to some, but not all, of the prior Classic winners on dirt.

serious question...is tiznow one of the greatest ever? if not, why should zenyatta be should she manage a win saturday?
and there is a far, far cry between saying she's not on a short list of all time greats and being a hater. if zenyatta is the most mentioned word here these days, hater has to be second. it's really ridiculous.

that's a shame. secretariat had horses like sham and forego to run against, and beat the clock to boot. zenyatta had gio ponti and rinterval. yeah, she's way better than him.

Two of the talking heads on ESPN's Around the Horn said something very similar today. Because other greats had lost and she hasn't, she must be the best of all time.

I guess to someone who has no clue about the game it might make some sense. if you have no perspective of how good some of the horses she is being compared to really were, the "she's never lost" arguement probably makes sense. I can understand people not following the game having such a flawed opinion.

What I'll never get is people that follow the sport thinking that.

That is what is so alarming about it. People who should know better are spouting such nonsense.

Since such simple arguments are made in her favor, perhaps simple arguments should be made in response. There is absolutely no way she even sniffs Secretariat's track record on Saturday; that just proves Secretariat was the superior animal.

I hope the Jap horse wins the race by 15 lengths,

In this day and age with all the info available on everything, the fact that about five random people who know nothing about racing asked me about Zenyatta is, in my opinion, a good thing - win or lose. That's five people who otherwise woulda known no different.

Are they betting? Will they pay attention more than 1-2 days a year to racing? It's highly unlikely.

It's nice for regular people to care about things we care about, but those people aren't likely to make a meaningful difference to the sport.

This was on the Zenyatta facebook page...I wouldn't be surprised if someone corrects him and he takes it down but...it's funny for now lolololol

He'll blow you as soon as you 'come' around to becoming a Zenyattard.

If she manages it, she'll do what Secretariat apparently could've done if he'd raced at 4 according to the quote attributed to (then disclaimed by) Secretariat's screenwriter. Well, we do know nobody's ever done it. :o

Or any other race horse or race, which is too bad.

I know one of them definitely is, cause he said to me..."all this hype for a horse, I think I could probably make some money going against her..." then proceeded to give me money to bet for him, against Z.

At four minutes and 23 seconds, what's the over/under on how many times Smooth Operator and CSC1985 can blow their loads in one entire play through of that video?

I'm going to say 19 for CSC1985 and 20 for the only fan of Sade left in existence.

TouchOfGrey 11-04-2010 09:36 AM

I can't get The Independent to load, but saw this at the Paulick Report:

Chris McGrath of The Independent, reporting from Churchill Downs, observes a certain euphoric fear surrounding the hype of undefeated Zenyatta.

"With her immaculate record, defeat in the Breeders’ Cup Classic would feel like the violation of a vestal. And as the hour approaches, the euphoria she has brought to the American sport is complicated by a contagious frisson of fear."

ETA: Finally got the page to load. US racing holds breath before one last cry of 'Go Zenyatta'

I guess you answered there question with "If you want to see real horses watch Tam Lin every 3 days at Meydan"

thats not true. friends and family know about the dt horses so they ask about them. also. spring classic horses get asked about. thats why i mentioned the lack of zenyatta questions. matter of fact, a coworker is friends with a trainer, the head honcho follows racing....he even mentioned that we made the new keeneland poles. weve talked about racing, tracks weve been to, etc.

Zenyatta will remain unbeaten after Saturday..................on synthetics.

horseofcourse 11-04-2010 07:07 PM

By what logic on this planet would Zenyatta not be considered a great race horse if she wins the race on Saturday? I'm mystified by that. Sure, she could lose and she may hate the Churchill dirt. It's nearly impossible for me to post in the racing forum, but it's pretty comical. I can guarantee you if Z happens to win this race within 0.3 seconds after the race will come the first post on how it was a horrible Classic field by standards and it was completely meaningless. And it logically follows that the person who posts that first should absolutely be betting her with both fists if that is indeed the case.

Who was saying it's going to be a great Classic?

They only know about the DT claimers because you talk about them.
