Moss: "Not necessarily her last race"
After the draw, in an informal conversation with some media, Jerry Moss said that Saturday's Classic is NOT necessarily Zenyatta's last race. Moss said they haven't begun to think about breeding plans, and that 'after the race the team will sit down at a nice dinner and talk it over.' When asked for a clarification, Moss reiterated...

Oh no. No. No. No.
|
She's 6 years old! Race at 7? Prostate Operator's estrogen level just went through the roof!!
|
60 Minutes got scammed. Like the rest of us.
|
If she doesn't seal up HOY with a Classic win and it's a quasi-upset by a longshot, maybe another race this year? Please tell me it's not another campaign in CA. If she gets 20-20, I don't see how they could possibly keep her going. Is there a G1 race that's over a mile left on the calendar?

Bring back RA for the 2011 Blossom!!! LOL
|
Does he know the Breeders Cup is on dirt again next year?

Yeah, her last start at HP will possibly be her last start.

I have always thought they might go after the huge purse in the Dubai World Cup.
Then they could breed her afterward. |

In honor of Randy Moss - I am planning a big pep rally speech during the national anthem - where I will implore all nearby horseplayers "Let's go to war! Crackers! Time to cash some fucl<ing bets! Crackers!"
When my meal comes I will flip out on the waitress and say "What is this sh!t? I wouldn't feed this to my dog!" After my first BC win - I will log on here and post about how I'm not appreciated enough and how some of you don't want to see me do good. After the card is over - I will come back here and conduct my own press confrence - where I will be asking myself questions and answering them. I would encourage all others to do the same. We need to support Randy in these tough and uncertain times. |
Perhaps Dubai?!~

This morning on the radio show a question came up regarding the quality of the ESPN broadcast and I was thinking that Randy Moss was a knowledgeable handicapper who was fairly articulate, Jerry Bailey gave a unique jockey perspective, Kenn Mayne was a clown and Hank Goldberg was someone you could ignore. So I guess, based on this attack that I missed something about Randy and maybe I should pay more attention to the "hammer".

I don't think the Mosses want to let her go. |

I think there is maybe a 1% chance she runs after the Breeders Cup.
But, when she loses and someone else wins HOY, she could be brought out of retirement again. It would be worth another year of torture on message boards to see that look on Jerry Moss's face again. |
She will scratch on Saturday. After a week of his mare being the media darling, he gets to take her back to SoCal still unbeaten. Soon thereafter an announcement will be made of an open stakes race going 10 furlongs at Hollywood in December to be run in primetime on CBS. Hollywood can call it the Champions Invitational, and invite horses they know won't show up plus the usual bums in SoCal. Following the victory, Moss will announce that Zenyatta will race twice in 2011, with the Santa Anita Handicap and Apple Blossom on her dance card.

There's one thing missing from your scenario.
The excuse, err, I mean reason, that she will scratch. |

The unbeaten record is everything to her connections. Why risk losing when so many in the racing media are ready to hand her HOY regardless of what she does on Saturday. She has shipped all the way to Louisville before only to be scratched because of the track. So it isn't like they don't have a history of doing it. I wouldn't be shocked if they challenge the Classic winner to a race in SoCal. They have no shame. |

So there! Take that you big smelly Zenyatta hater! |

Finally. A place I can ask this question. When did any of her connections ever say the BCC would be her last race?

Most of 2010. Also, most of 2009. |
Ok...that answers my question. Noone said she'd be "retired."
