What does Johnny Murtagh got going on back home not to come over to ride Joshua Tree for a chance at a $2 million purse?

tjfla 10-13-2010 01:35 PM

Best Part about the International is if a European Horse wins we get to actually see him in BC Turf

Chincon and Redwood are already going to the BC Turf with Al Khali a possible with a big race

Champions Day at Newmarket is the 16th with the Emirates Champion Stakes as another Win and U are in for the BC Turf

Riding like a moron I'm guessing.

cakes44 10-13-2010 02:13 PM

Fatal Bullet is an interesting entrant. Connections seeing how he looks on the grass and maybe taking a shot at the BC Turf Sprint?
5f at Churchill might be right up his alley if he doesn't hate the weeds.

Champions Day at Newmarket?? plus I cant see him competing with Redwood - he is slow!

...yeah, at least its an option. tough horse.

Can't wait. Really nice fields.

Woodbine always does a great job with this kinda stuff...

http://www.woodbineentertainment.com...l/Default.aspx

It's interesting that Soumillon is coming out for Reggane... I guess Mosse will be in Melbourne with Mr. Medici (?). Some great jockeys here.

No picks yet. My sentimental favorites (Balthazaar's Gift, Chinchon, Mores Wells and Fatal Bullet) will probably remain just that.

I'm thinking Woodbourne in the Neartic and a repeat for Lahaleeb but it's still early and havent begun to look at pps for the International.

Kasept 10-14-2010 03:57 AM

Why would Woodbine make the 4th race of their 'Guaranteed P4' a $12.5k MDN CLM? Bizarre, amazing, ridiculous.. They have a 13 horse ALW as the 7th, before the stakes, which could either have been used as the nightcap or started the P4 so that ended with the International. I just don't get it. 3 races worth $3.5 million and then bottom level maidens that are a combined 0 for 109..

I concur, I was hoping they made a mistake. I guess not. Brutal way to finish a nice sequence.

eajinabi 10-14-2010 11:54 AM

Looking for Field Commission to go for a repeat here.

Kasept 10-15-2010 05:33 PM

$23k P6 CARRYOVER FOR SATURDAY!

Slow? He could compete for 3YOOY if he ran in America.

I think Grand Adventure is a lot of value at those odds.

Most likely winner of that race. Doubt he'll be 10-1.

my miss storm cat 10-16-2010 03:18 PM

I'm sorry but why exactly is Bridgetown the favorite?

Woodbourne all the way and playing a small tri with him, Balthazaar, Serious Attitude and Fatal Bullet.

Miss Keller, Gallic Star, Lahaleeb and Patchattack in a tri box.

Looking at Simmard...huge fan of a few here but I don't see any of them winning.

Possibly Fifty Proof...

Anyway Woodbourne is my big play of the day (so youve been warned cause i jinxed him). :wf

my miss storm cat 10-16-2010 03:28 PM

This was gonna be her swansong. Wonder if they'll reconsider now...

Nice win.

CSC 10-16-2010 03:43 PM

Reggane (GB)/Gallic Star (IRE)/Akarlina (FR) all look enticing.

Good luck!

I like her also, especially at her odds. Take a look at Reggane, she looks like a million bucks. G'luck!

Isn't that the truth, she really looks sharp. I think she'll run a big one.

Good luck!

You too. :)

CSC 10-16-2010 04:43 PM

This is silly, Mores Wells looks alot better than a 19/1 shot in here. Certainly better than some that are at lower odds. Worth a bet...

hockey2315 10-16-2010 04:52 PM

Thanks, Alan, for f@^&%#!* me out of $3500. Brilliant ride.

Wasn't worth nearly as much to me, and I hate to complain about jockeys' rides, but that was dreadful. He was so much the best.

letswastemoney 10-16-2010 09:17 PM

I'm surprised more people didn't just box the Euros, although I agree that Al Khali was given a poor ride.

hockey2315 10-16-2010 09:27 PM

His running line was 6-8-8-9-4 - dead last at the top of the stretch - and he came home in :23.54. I'm sure his running line looks excellent on the Fat Charts. He has more speed than that - there was no reason to be that far back. He was pulling and full of horse on the backstretch, but Alan had to strangle him. I'm all for saving ground, but this horse is so big that it's just not going to work with him. He's always going to find traffic if you don't give him a lot of room to run. I think the bonehead ride Kent gave him two-back has them over-adjusting with him. The same overly patient, jam him in between horses until the last possible second ride almost got him beat last time too.

I've been experiencing a ridiculous cold streak the last few weeks (bad opinions, not bad luck), and to be right for once and not get rewarded (had the other two exactas) is very frustrating. Played 2,10 w/ ALL w/ 5 in Pk3s and then 2,10 w/ 5 horses (winner was the longest price of them) w/ 5. Just gross. I guess that's what I get for singling in a race like that, but I was against all the Euros and thought this would be Al Khali's breakout race.

Obviously I'm going to bet him big time in the BC, but I'm kind of wondering if he's the type of horse that will always end up in trouble. Also not sure a course like Churchill favors him like Woodbine or Belmont does.

Al Khali a horse you and others have insulted me for chasing and now he is going to beat the ARC winner?

hockey2315 10-16-2010 09:32 PM

Arc winners are probably the worst BC bets of all.

Give Al Khali Mores Wells' trip and he wins for fun. Mores Wells got an incredible ride.

In the past, yup... But Im not sure how that will have any affect on this years running, and this HORRIBLE CROP OF TURF HORSES.

Huh? The phenomenon is still relevant because it's explainable - it's not random. Arc horses are prepared to run their absolute best races in the Arc and they tail off in the BC because it's a hard-to-pass-up afterthought to their connections. European horses that are pointed to the BC are the ones who do so well - the list of over-the-top Euro favorites off the board is long. The one thing that Workforce has going for him is that he's lightly raced - so he should have more left in the tank than most that fit his profile, but I'm certainly not afraid of him. I'm not planning on singling Al Khali or anything, but I'll bet out on him at 15-1+. He is infinitely better than he looks on paper.

Winning Woodbine Beyers (may be a point off):

Joshua Tree - 101
Reggane - 103
Serious Attitude - 108 (whoa)

Winners haven't done well, though Trempolino was photoed by the mighty Theatrical, but runners up are a different story. The Aga Khan horse coming over will drown the likes of Al Khali.

I feel your pain, and he probably should have won today, but the BC field will be much tougher. Do you even think he'll run?

I was surprised Garcia was back aboard after last time. I watched that race with Mott. I can't believe he rode him back.
