RU Kid

Kills himself after being outed. This is so sad. I doubt the kids who pulled the prank realized that this would be the result. But it is yet another example of not knowing the emotional stability of people and leaving them alone.

What a drama queen.

Yes and no right, and I know you are joking. Fact is, you don't know how someone is feeling when people do things to them...i.e. the girl in Mass. last year who offed herself after being picked on by other kids. I don't agree with the crazy comments on the site about "hate crimes" etc....They played a prank, this kid decided to kill himself. You can't prove intent there. But that's just it, I tell my kids to leave each other alone because you don't really know who is nuts or suicidal at the end of the day. So worry about you and only you.

Joking but serious. The dude went a little overboard.

Totally coach, which is why I feel bad for the kids who pulled the prank. You think these kids really thought he would do something like that? Of course not....But because of what I do I know how fragile kids are, yes 18 is still a kid, and therefore I feel just awful for all the parents involved here.

If one were to speculate...

One of his parents disapproves of his lifestyle and he's been mentally abused to the point he lives in constant fear of being outed.

Now the top Google story on US news.

I don't know if I'd classify what they did as a prank. That seems like a shi.tty thing to do to someone, regardless if the kid was gay or straight. I don't think there was any intent for him to harm himself, but they intended on humiliating him IMO.

Yes they did. And they will be convicted of doing so....But it is a stretch to make them evil and or hopeful of the outcome that happened.

Well broadcasting others that are having sex or hooking up without their consent seems pretty evil to me. And I doubt they would have done it if he was straight.

I don't think they wanted that outcome, but they got it.

If he were straight, would he have killed himself because of it? Doubtful.....Again, no one wins here. It is a lesson.

Probably not, but it doesn't make what they did any less wrong.

jms62 09-29-2010 04:38 PM

Is this now a potential involuntary manslaughter case?

philcski 09-29-2010 07:59 PM

Very sad day for my alma mater.

Also agree.

chucklestheclown 09-30-2010 02:11 AM

It's very sad and a very extreme case. But would you want to be charged with a crime for something you said to another poster?

Of course no one would want to however if a poster bullied some kid to a point they commited suicide I say the poster should be liable for their actions. I think the same thing goes here.

joeydb 09-30-2010 06:30 AM

The question that comes to mind is, "Why couldn't they just leave that kid alone?"

This is just so sad.

thats a little different than illegally broadcasting someone having sex (especially a young man with another man... that is a tough age for gay men)

randallscott35 09-30-2010 09:59 AM

He reached out to a site after this happened. Didn't help fast enough. Hopefully gay kids will realize there are people to discuss this with.

Honest question Lori... when did you know your "preference"? How did you handle it through that late teens early 20's? I'm sure it's a very age tough for gay girls, too. It's a tough age for ALL kids, even if they're an All-American Harvard freshman from a millionaire family.

The Indomitable DrugS 09-30-2010 10:49 AM

Why would anyone want to film two gay men fagging it out if they didn't want to beat off to it?

I don't see any joke to it. I think atleast one of these two squirly looking mofo's gets off to watching that sort of thing .....

Her: +100
Him: -120

Coach Pants 09-30-2010 10:52 AM

The kid let Kumar and a ladyboi push him over the edge.

I was watching the fuzzy scratched out playboy channel at 12 years old. lol

I didnt really act on it in high school (except for a few occasions).. but I grew up in the kind of town where it made me uncomfortable about it. college its easy and people dont care.. especially with women. Cant comment on gay men but I think it would be much more difficult.

Never had any problems in college... one girl told me she thought lesbians were disgusting & she couldnt imagine making out with a girl.... but then she ended up giving me some later on that same night & she STILL emails me. LOL

Only have had problems with family, not with friends / peers / other adults. So one night I was really drunk, and very vulgarly told my parents how I felt about them having an issue (basically told them to STFU and accept it or not have a close relationship with their only daughter... I guess they love me so they have STFU since then).

So it hasnt been difficult for me. Though I respect others opinions and never talk about it at work (for all they know I love me some penis) and I feel out a new friend before I talk about any of that stuff. Sometimes its not anyones business, and I sure dont feel like my sexuality defines my personality.. just a small factor.

Antitrust32 09-30-2010 11:36 AM

I would really think that each situation is different. And a lot has to do with self confidence also. You just kind of have to get the attitude that you dont give a fucl< what anyone else thinks, its your life not theirs.

But being an 18 year old boy, just leaving home and starting college.. to be humiliated like that is so terrible. He was probably struggling with coming to grips with his own sexuality, let alone have him and another man broadcasted on the internet. I can see where he hit rock bottom. Doesnt mean he was mentally ill... maybe he just didnt think he could over come this.

Too many high school and college kids put too much stake into the present, and not the future. This poor kid didnt realize that after a few weeks, nobody was going to care or even remember this incident, and that he had 60 + years of living to do. And not just gay kids... basically all high school kids, and some college kids put too much weight on what others think of them. I'm sure it leads to a lot of depression.

I wish this kid would have realized what was going on... aimed the money shot right at the computer camera.. then taken the computer to the nearest window so Kumar could have watched his computer crash into the concrete. Then knocked the guy out next time he saw him. Its hard for an 18 year old gay kid to have that kind of attitude though. You grow up learning that being gay is a sin... its unacceptable / perverted behavior.. your church doesnt support it and talks out against it... you feel like you should be ashamed at yourself. Its a sad attitude to have, but it begins with the people raising you & the community around you.

kenny p 09-30-2010 12:32 PM

Kumar should do a year in Rahway and be buggered daily. Hes a mean little bastard.
