11/12 (AQU): Lloydobler back..
Lloydobler with a :49.15 half mile today on the Belmont main track as he increases the intensity of his training regimine towards a return. Was 18th of 58. Haven't heard specifics yet of the drill...
|
Lloydobler had exited his work in great shape. In regards to more detail of Saturday's drill, Gary reported that the work itself was done easy, without urging, and was exactly what we wanted in terms of a second spin back from injury. All positive news in regards to getting Lloyd back as good or better than before the muscle strain...
|
He's your best horse. Good luck all.
|
Lloydobler went a half mile solo this morning in :49.4 on the Belmont Training Track, 6th of 33 at the distance. Saw him over the weekend and is doing great. Continues to target mid/late November or early December for his return.

Lloydobler with a 5f breeze in 1:01.4 this morning over the training track. 7 of 25.

Lloyd went 5f again this morning. 1:01.12 (4 of 7). No details yet..

Junior Alvarado, well known to Chicago players and just having come to NY, worked Lloyd this morning and will ride him in his return. Alvarado liked the gelding a lot, and other than needing to ask him twice to change leads, said he felt really good under him. Lloydobler, 5/0-2-1 in starts this past winter and spring, will likely get one more light work or a blowout before entering during the first week (or so) of the Aqueduct meet. |
I saw that Lloyd worked a bullet 4 furlongs this morning in 47:86; 1/67:)

Bring it on home, LD. Wish we could be there, but we'll be watching and rooting at one of the Colonial Downs OTB.
Cool running and stay safe. |
safe travels to all attending. safe trip and good racing luck Ld.

Looks like a "late lunch" Friday! ;)
|
yes, looking forward to "lunch" - real nice to have Lloyd back and running today, helps to ease the post-BC syndrome considering what was happening just about the same time last week - sounds like Junior is a good fit for him, good luck to DeeTee, safe racing and travels to all !
|
I hope he runs well and has a safe trip.
|
Good Luck gang. May he run well and come back safe.

5th....
Looks like he came up a bit short. Anxious to hear from Steve/Gary on a redboard note - I did manage to hit the exacta and the tri |
yep Lloyd definitely needed the outing that wasn't pretty ...
and on another redboard note couldn't get logged in to twinspires with that new username/password set up, was able to watch the video on xpressbet but nothing funded in there so saved $$$,:zz: for once something worked out LOL |
The Florida citrus growers should have sponsored that race

Lloyd came out of the race having caught himself, but otherwise OK. He broke uncharacteristically slowly for him and was lacking his usual burst in this first race back after 6 months away. Gary is wondering if the lack of early drive may be attributable to the hind end issue that had him sidelined. He has been sharp in his workouts, but those come after jogs and warming up as opposed to the push you get at the start of a race. We'll know more in a couple days.
|
Well, it turns out that Friday's Maiden was more Special than Claiming.. Was as deep a MCLM as you're likely to find with the McLaughlin winner ringing up an 88 Beyer for his effort. Lloyd got a 61 which is not that far out of line with his spring numbers if he simply needed the race off the 6 month break.
|
How did Lloyd exit his race on Friday and what's next?

There were three horizontal cuts on the inside of the left there, and they were more than superficial. They are puffy swollen and it is typical to get minor infections from the dirt that gets in these kinds of bruises. The question is what he did to catch himself there... He's never done it before. The good news seems to be that his hind end is NOT bothering him. And he never changed leads Friday after doing so beautifully in all of his recent works, and that accounts for his leveling off in the stretch after looking like he was going to finish well coming off the turn. Given that the race turned out to be super tough with the 2 McLaughlins getting mid-high 80's Beyers, the race was probably better than it looked. As soon as the bruises heal and as long as it appears there isn't anything bothering him, we'll enter back in the first available similar spot. |
Poor Lloyd - I'm sending boo boo kisses to help him get better right quick now.
