Going all the way across the country to play Virginia Tech sort of disqualifies them for that distinction. They also won seven games last year by over 30 points.
If they played 90% of their games at home....and beat teams like new Mexico St. and San Jose St. by 3 points every time....maybe.

I can't wait until Alabama plays Boise St. in the BCS championship.

Oregon St plays them in a couple weeks. I hope Jacquizz has a handful of TD's.

Paterno died last night. Don't worry...he'll be on the field. Andrew McCarthy and Jonathan Silverman will carry him out.

This entire weekend is sick. The ACC and Big Ten are tested in big ways.

Fair enough. They are a very good team. This isn't an original idea by any means, but if any of the top 10 teams played their schedule the results would be the same. I'd like to see how they would stack up in the SEC year in and year out.

True. They deserve credit for winning the big games they have in recent years (Oklahoma, Oregon, TCU, VA Tech, etc) but it is obviously a whole lot easier to get up for a couple of big games a year than it is to play the grinding season that SEC or Big 12 South teams have faced in recent years.
In those conferences you could beat the 3 teams that are supposed to be the tough games and still lose a game to a solid team like Oklahoma St or Auburn. If Boise wins their 3 toughest games, they only have to beat poor WAC teams the rest of the way.

But still, it really is amazing that they have built a program like that given that they are in Idaho, have no tradition, and play in the WAC conference. Incredible. If they go undefeated, I hope they get a shot at the National Championship over a one-loss team from a major conference. They might not be better, but it would be cool to see them get a shot. If two teams emerge undefeated from one of the major conferences, however, they should obviously be picked over Boise.

as long as bsu is allowed to play big teams with 6 weeks or 6 months to prepare, they'll have a chance to win.
i heard on the radio that Nebraska tried to sign a 3 yr deal bsu. 2 in Nebraska 1 @ bsu. bsu wanted the second game at Neb to be a neutral site. Neb said no, and Neb. wanted to play in the middle of the season and bsu said no.
who does bsu think they are to call thier shots against the big boys? i don't want to hear no one will play them, it's not true.

BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!! I love it.

Great article in the local paper today where Mathews was talking about how he had 60 kids on his team the Va Tech didn't want and how not a single kid on JMU didn't even so much as make a visit to Va Tech. Saying there was no way that JMU is supposed to beat Tech.

Go Dukes:D:tro:

I guess Boise is a 1aa team afterall. If JMU can win by 5....

Why should they go 2 for 1 against nebraska? This aint 1985 anymore.

and Darren....they ARE one of the big boys now. No one wants play them, especially in Idaho. Think any of the vaunted SEC teams would ever venture onto the blue field when Jacksonville state is available? C'mon give them their due. Under the theory you guys operate on the NCAA basketball tourney should be reduced to 8 teams and lesser conference teams like Memphis and Butler shouldn't be invited. I read a story today stating that even though the writer had them ranked as the 2nd best team in the country because JMU beat Va Tech, Boise shouldn't play in the nat'l championship game. What kind of ****in logic dictates that the 2nd best team in the country shouldn't play in the title game because of what another team does? If they are so unworthy then what is the big deal? They will get killed in the championship game anyway? Right? They are the best thing that has happened to college football in that their continued success will eventually force a change to a playoff.

miraja2 09-12-2010 07:29 AM

After yesterday it might be fair to ask if the WAC is that much worse than the ACC this year.

VA Tech lost to FCS James Madison.
GA Tech lost to Kansas....who was coming off a 6-3 loss to an FCS school.
Florida St didn't even belong on the same field as Oklahoma
and while Virginia and Miami weren't horrible in games against talented opponents....they still lost.

Clemson, on the other hand, did manage to to follow up their Week1 win over the always-dominant North Texas with a Week2 score over mighty Presbyterian.

So let's say (hypothetically) that Clemson runs the table and goes undefeated and there is only one other major-conference unbeaten....we'll say Oklahoma. Does Clemson deserve a shot at the championship game or should they, like Boise, be passed over by a one-loss SEC team, because the ACC sucks?

Texas which is the biggest NCAA football program out there plays 2 teams this year ranked in the top 25. Assuming they get to the Big 12 championship game against Nebraska they will play 3 ranked teams including the same team twice. They also play powerhouses Rice, Wyoming, UCLA (who lost at home to Stanford 35-0), Iowa State (who lost to iowa 35-7), Baylor (who is probably going to be a 18pt underdog to TCU this week), Kansas state (who was less than impressive against UCLA which stinks), Florida Atlantic (a sunbelt team), Ok state (who just beat Troy by 3) and texas A&M. Tougher than Boise's schedule? Yeah but hardly the gauntlet that you'd be led to believe that every BCS conference school plays.

And America wants to see them as well

CAA Football could move up to FBS and be better than the MAC and Sun Belt RIGHT NOW. The money isn't there for most of the schools, though.

Your UNC Heels are probably the best team in the ACC when they get their cheaters, I mean players on probation back. The ACC is dreadful.
