This comes as no surprise

The only thing left is the late October announcement that Zenyatta will skip the BC because she "is tired after her rigorous March to October campaign."

Indian Charlie 08-22-2010 12:00 AM

Yeah, but Rachel sucks.

The Indomitable DrugS 08-22-2010 12:03 AM

And don't forget she also beat Gio Ponti, Awesome Gem, and two Euro's in the big one.

Indian Charlie 08-22-2010 12:10 AM

Yeah, but don't forget, Rachel lost 2 races within the last 20 months or so.

Z deserves HOY if she wins the Z stakes, since she could easily be the first horse ever to go undefeated in races named after themselves.

The Indomitable DrugS 08-22-2010 12:18 AM

Horse of the year? She deserves to be the #1 race horse of all-time. Forget Secretariat, Spectacular Bid, Citation and all of those other losers who lost races.

Indian Charlie 08-22-2010 12:21 AM

If she retires undefeated in races named after her, she really should skip the horse racing hall of fame and just be inducted into the baseball hall of fame.

And win the Nobel Prize for total awesomeness as well.

The Indomitable DrugS 08-22-2010 12:24 AM

I heard she's going to do Dancing With The Stars next season.

I can't wait!

Isn't she already? What more does she need to prove. I don't recall ever reading that Secretariat danced before his races.

Stop that. You will make Smooth Operator jealous.

That depends on where Dancing With The Stars is filmed, and who the competition is.

If it's East of the Rockies, forget it.

If there are any real dancers in there, forget it.

And if she has to dance against males, no way, unless the males are all over the hill and hopeless.

The Indomitable DrugS 08-22-2010 12:30 AM

The best part about her personality is how kind hearted she is. She just wants to win... but she never wants to embarrass other horses.

Doesn't matter if she's running against Gio Ponti or against Beulah Park maiden claiming fillies .. she'll just run to her competitions level and never win by any more than a carefully measured 2 or 3 lengths... sometime not even that far if she's feeling especially generous.

That kind of compassion shown for fellow horse is so refreshing.

Indian Charlie 08-22-2010 12:32 AM

Maybe they can get Trevor to be a judge on that lame dancing show and he can shoot his load off about how great she's dancing.

The Indomitable DrugS 08-22-2010 12:35 AM

Only a truly great one could have somehow made us all forget about Nashoba's Key.

Smooth Operator 08-22-2010 12:44 AM

Final prep at home in early Oct

Nice

Things really seem to be coming together nicely for that unbeaten dual BC champion mare…

Indian Charlie 08-22-2010 12:48 AM

Welcome to Derby Trail, I love you.

DaTruth 08-22-2010 12:54 AM

January 2010:

"I would say we're probably going to travel a bit," Moss said. "I'd like to see her run in some dirt races." "We'll run against anybody."

That was before RA lost.

That was also before Moss figured out that he was indeed full of shidt.

The better name for this thread would have been "The IC and IDS Jack Each Other Today Place"

I'm just pis#%d I listened to all the Hillary Clinton/Ted Kennedy/Dukakis/Kerry loving other coast loving posters here and included Devil May Care in my wagers with "Blind Luck" on top.

clyde 08-22-2010 03:34 AM

zenyatta should have a separate hall of fame, since she's perfect while the other members are not.
matter of fact, i think they should re-name the eclipse awards the zenyatta awards-she should win the first of them. how cool would that be?

Danzig 08-22-2010 09:37 AM

and don't forget:

Finally came the show-stopper before the race. When Wallace announced her name in the post parade, Zenyatta did something she never had before.

"Has anyone ever seen a horse bow before a race?" said trainer John Shirreffs' wife, Dottie. "She bowed twice when she was announced."

"I thought I'd seen it all with her, but I'd never seen her do that," said Smith.

She now has songs written about her. They gave away sets of glasses with her picture on them. One man stood in a long betting line and ordered 20 win tickets on her, $2 each. When he left the window, he said he bought them not to cash, but to send to family and friends.
i bet no one ever thought of buying keepsake tix before.

Danzig 08-22-2010 09:40 AM

oh wow, this is amazing.

For the people who are closest to Zenyatta, however, it is her kindness and quirks, her charisma and contradictions that make them swear that she is heaven sent. She may be an imposing mare — taller and broader than most male horses — but by nature she is as gentle as a kitten.

Zenyatta allows her masseuse, Michelle Jensen, to crouch beneath her in her stall for her daily, hourlong rub. She licks the ear of her groom, Mario Espinoza, the way small children suddenly kiss their mothers.

and then this:

Shirreffs paused, smiled and offered a theory.

“She’s so large and so strong that some people are intimidated by her,” he said. “As she got into racing and winning, we kind of lost track of her underlying kindness. Zenyatta has evolved into something much bigger than we ever imagined: she’s the coolest horse in the world.”

she's the coolest horse ever!

Port Conway Lane 08-22-2010 09:51 AM

Not to mention she's eclipsed every horse in message board history in topic of conversation.

I also heard that Zenyatta was against off shore drilling and when she retires is going help the fight against global warming.

that's true. i'm certain that no horse has ever existed that quickly became the subject of any other racing conversation. if you did a search on zenyatta here, every thread would appear, no doubt.

Coach Pants 08-22-2010 10:35 AM

I'd like to see her join the cast of Jersey Shore in season 3 but the Rockies could be a roadblock in negotiations. Maybe they can film in Venice Beach? It's not like the majority of viewers would know the difference.

Why not just redboard like usual?

DaTruth 08-22-2010 07:14 PM

It was like the Beatles arriving at JFK.

If I KNEW everyone would win on my touts, I'd definitely share.

Really.

Most of my bets are of the last minute "don't look or attempt to imitate" variety.
